has anyone been outcoached by JVS this season?

Imo JVS outcoached Arnie last time by changing to the 3-5-2 midgame.

Granted we were lucky not to be behind by that stage but nevertheless we got a point with our worst squad of the season.

I don't know if your kidding but I'll assume your not. Velaphi kept clean sheets because of a completely different tactical game plan. When we were keeping those clean sheets we were playing a much more defensive gamesytle.

So why can't we go back to this game style. Surely novillo mooy and tuna can score goals.

You're not outcoached if you still manage to draw.

Novillo hat trick followed by a dab or two

Bouzanis to dominate. Clean sheet

Agree. Rush Harry back. He needs to be up front with Bruno - that's our winning combination with Mooy the provider. Clisby at left back and have Zullo or Gooch further forward. Franjic to bench and Retre starting RB. Franjic is playing more like a luxury player ATM - or should I say just shithousen :droy:

One thing for sure, Arnie will look to have El Tuna mugged up front so need to have as many avenues to goal as possible with proven goal scorers like Harry. Having said that JvS will do exactly the opposite FFS

Thoroughly agree.  Having those front three is pure bliss. IMO part of the "slump" Bruno is going thru relates to being well and truly over marked to the point he has no-one else in the front three that really demand attention. Mooy remember gets the attention from a much deeper position, meaning teams can spread the marking duties across way more players.

With Novillo back, it forces all opposing back fours to spread more equally.  Get too tight to either Novillo or Bruno, the other will (and never if) find space.

Plus if Bruno has an off night, Novillo and Mooy always tend to pop up (giving Bruno space the next week given the posing threat of Novillo and Mooy)

Our form is WL only conclusion is that mr 33.33333 % will produce a draw. Playing against mr bus it will be a depressing 0:0 draw.

All Arnie needs to do to ensure a draw is to hire a team of Auckland amateur players who have never played together, a draw is assured, if they play well they could possibly win (I still have nightmares of that match)

My reliable source tells me JVS is gone end of the season.

Just remember there's everyone else on the forums that's said the same thing so you can't go claiming a green line for something we all know will happen.

The day he leaves is the day that we should celebrate by changing the forum colour to green. Mass green line for everyone

So ive just seen that there's silverwear up for grabs on winning this game on Saturday night and realised there is now no way in this world we can win because silverwear is JVSs kryptonite. I've heard rumours that even at the mere touch of silverwear JVS tan begins to fade and he literally starts to decompose. Garunteed loss.

Aaron Hughes may start as John van’t Schip has near full squad to pick from

David Davutovic

March 2, 2016

VETERAN defender Aaron Hughes could be rushed back into the first XI for Saturday’s home clash with Sydney FC with coach John van’t Schip having his strongest squad to choose from all season.

Bar long-term knee victim Corey Gameiro, every player is available with Hughes and fellow stopper Connor Chapman training yesterday along with keeper Thomas Sorensen, who came off at half-time last week.

Returning attacker Harry Novillo also trained with the main group ahead of his return from a club-imposed two game ban.

Both Chapman, 21, and Hughes have trained fully for almost a fortnight but having injured his medial ligament in the December 13 win at Newcastle Jets, City will exercise caution with Chapman, who’s just an outside chance to start on the bench.

Hughes, 36, has a better base fitness having started four consecutive games before he re-injured his calf in the January 25 win over Wellington.

The Northern Irishman’s return could see City revert back to the 3-5-2 formation, which they’ve appeared more comfortable playing recently.

Captain Patrick Kisnorbo was confident City could improve its defensive record, having conceded a league record 38 goals in 21 games.

“If it’s a back three or four, the coach decides and as professionals we have to adapt and do the job and hopefully it pays off because we have an important game,’’ Kisnorbo said.

“I don’t know (which we’ll play), but we’re in a position where we know how to do both.

“With the (back) three you have wing-backs and they can push so you need a bit more cover. With a four you know your area.

“Formations are formations, you have to go out there and get three points.

“The stats show that our defensive structure hasn’t been the best this year, but it’s something we can rectify.’’

With nine goals in 15 games, Novillo was a key player for City before his two-game suspension and maximum club-imposed fine for breaching FFA’s code of conduct.

Kisnorbo said Novillo’s return was welcomed as competition for places intensified.

“Harry’s back, he’s great, he’s come back and been fantastic, so the coach picks the team but it’s great to have him back among the players,’’ he said.

“The depth’s improved. We’ve had a clear out and brought players in, there’s positions for the taking and everyone’s playing for their future.’’

Hughes and May. That's probably when he'll start a game.

That suggests to me JVS is just scratching around for a formation that will work. For Kisnorbo not to know which formation we will play is poor preparation. It should already be decided and they should be working on it on the training field.

Yep, and perhaps start a bloke who's barely played all season (393 minutes) and hasn't played since 25th January. Just as he brought back Brown and Marino last week. Does it every season and curiously enough we never win anything. But the two are probably not connected...
