Probably an unpopular opinion but I'm tired of this ''finals'' BS.  It's not a football format.

I don't like paying for membership (12yrs now) and then being fleeced at this time of year.

Already today I have had about 5 emails about finals tickets.

The APL has got so much to answer for (let's not even mention that shitstain Danny T******d, now ruining some project in bloody Saudi Arabia, of all places.  Then again, probably the perfect place for him) over the couple of years since it made the A-Leagues independent.

I want investment in the bread-and-butter season, not confected hype.  To get the league back to where it was a decade ago.

We certainly do not deserve to win the GF this season, but obviously there is a chance we could.

Good luck to the team.   But.... nah.

I'm with you, but unfortunately this "play-off" format is used in a number of places now. For example in the EFL to determine a promoted club.

Myself I would prefer to see the home-and-away League season extended rather than the "finals" system we have.

I'd rather seperate it from the A League competition and make it an APL Knockout Tournament for the top 6 sides. That way, the Premier is clearly the Premier

Why not the APLM Cup involving all clubs?

The Belgian first division appear to have three: the top six (same as ours) the middle six (WTF???) and the bottom four for demotion.

This is a reasonable shout and is done elsewhere e.g. Scotland with a top 6 and bottom 6 but still to determine final league standings. It ensures the final round of matches at the end of the season are important. It works far better though when the bottom half and trying to avoid relegation which would render the Australian equivalent pretty worthless.

This would be far better if it is acceptable to the AFC. The bottom 6 is fair too, because IIRC the final placings determine where the clubs enter the next seasons Australia (FFA) Cup.

TTIM... "Australia Cup" sounds like a horse race...

I’ve seen the defunct City Terrace and Melburnians come back to life in recent days, does anybody know what’s happening with the active supporter groups?

They have returned for the derby

Hopefully they just sing about the players no flares and fighting lads

Unfortunately, these types of games are a honeypot for wannabe ultras. You can still smell the testosterone over the smell of the smokies

How very hardcore, showing up at a ''big ticket'' game and on FB urging people to be there. Like, where were these people in mid-season at any time in the last couple of years?

I might hate the finals concept, but I go to every pre-finals home game I can make when I'm not working.......

Melburnians are copping a lot of flack at the moment for their sudden return. I can't defend against it either. Seems to be a case of 'derby specialists' coming out of the woodwork. :droy:

Yes, it’s odd. Have they come forward with a reason?

City Terrace is back too.

Its pretty obvious to me what their reason is. They're all coming out of the woodwork for the derby. Pathetic.

Why for the final series, which means nothing? I’m genuinely confused, but why now.

I assumed its because the last few home games, our active end has been so underwhelming that they've decided to jump in to try to salvage what's left.

Regardless I’m glad they did come back. Hopefully they stay.

Well let’s see what happens. I feel we have nothing to lose and we definitely have the class to win if we play to the best of our ability. Sitting virtually on the field here so let’s hope it’s a win!

Happy with so far but Fernandez is a liability and I reckon he'll cost us a goal tbh.

We just need to be really patient with our build up now that they're down to 10, and really to and turn the game into a grind
