Transfer Talk, Rumours and Speculation

Just checked in with the Fox A-League fantasy stats from last season and for Melbourne City, Koren actually came 4th on 100 points.  Eric the Viking was 3rd with 110, Kisnorbo second with 129 and Mooy 1st with 233, with Mooy 1st in the entire competition.

I think Koren has the ability to be a match winner, however he will never be a workhorse in the team.  JVS just has to make it work and fit him and Mooy in the midfield, if he stays that is.

23 of those 100 did come against newcastle (5-2)

3 goals 2 assists all season, 24 shot assists and 17 shots on target is poor

Since when did we have Jason Trifiro on trial? I had no idea about this

It's mentioned somewhere - club news or newspaper article. Also George Lambadaridis (ex-Brisbane, ACL injury) and Cameron Watson (ex-Adelaide).

for memory / AFAIK the article mentioned each player is a bit of a short term filler (a.) given we are due to play Man City / FFA Cup game within the next 3 weeks, and (b.) to cover general squad changes (aka dead wood being fucked off without immediate replacement) and current injuries.  i'd only take Lambadaridis of the three and thats only cause he's youngish.  he is a Melbourne lad too FWIW

Next person who mentions Samaras...

feel welcome to bitch slap SBS / their website

http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/article/2015/07/18/samaras-linked-melbourne-city-move

Samaras linked with Melbourne City move

Georgios Samaras has been linked to a move to A-League club Melbourne City after his West Bromwich Albion contract was terminated by mutual consent.

The Greece striker joined Albion on a two-year deal last August, but was restricted to just eight appearances for the Premier League club in all competitions, all off the bench.

Samaras spent the second half of last season on loan at Al Hilal, and has now agreed to leave The Hawthorns, with a possible return to Celtic mooted as well as a move to Melbourne City, the city where his father was born.

The 30-year-old enjoyed a trophy-laden six years at Scottish champion Celtic, netting 71 goals in 243 appearances.

He had his medical last sunday. Nothing since then. Might have failed it?

I think if you listen to van 't Schip here http://www.melbournecityfc.com.au/video/melbourne-city-press-conference/1285918  from 03.40 onwards there's a question about Tuna; JvS doesn't confirm or deny that we're interested but says in effect "a lot of players are linked with City  and as soon as there's a signature on paper you'll be told about it but there's nothing yet."

I tend to think its the same as the Novillo one: its a done deal but the final contract hasn't been signed and wont be until he gets here.

Agreed.

But now that I think of it, why couldn't he of signed a contract in Manchester when he was doing his medical? Surely our sister club could of easily facilitated it.

Not sure on the legality of that. There is always some clause regarding the place where the contract can be signed and which jurisdiction gets to be an arbiter in the event of breaches or misunderstandings. So maybe the FFA has a standard clause demanding that all contracts be signed in Australia and the jurisdiction shall be the state of NSW. It is certainly something that I would demand since the FFA is the guarantor of the contract.

sounds like he was just deflecting the question

Signing another quality striker is the most important signing that Melbourne City still has to make (can't put all our hopes on a Gameiro recovering from an ACL injury). I don't really care when such a signing occurs, only that such a signing occurs.
