  1. This signing completes the spine of our team if you look at our spine now Sorensen, kisnorbo/Hughes, Mooy/Koren, Bruno F if this fires on all cylinders we will be very hard to beat.. Looking at it, you would have to say this Spine is the best in the league by far..
  2. Does anyone know if our membership for this season covers the entry to this game? Also how the F does Victory get another state league team.. They get concessions, they get rules adjust to suit them and now they get yet another easier run.. This is getting ridiculous..
  3. For me, we cannot look at any game we play with the attitude that it's not important because it's not a league game. If the club is involved then we should expect a good performance, professional attitude and approach.. The club should have the mentality to win every game no matter if it's a friendly or training game behind closed doors.. Thats how a winning culture is formed, to be almost imbarrased by an NPL team from Newcastle we just can't seem to get out of the Heart shadow and that to me is very concerning. when are we going to be a good team ???
  4. I didn't get a chance to watch the game, but from all reports it was a pretty poor showing with the exception of Mooy. I agree with some comment about Melbourne City should always look and perform like a professional outfit. Cant wait to hear all of JVS excuses about this one. Let the bullshit begin..
  5. that's my point! How many players were not up to the level? Those players need to be moved on. It's my view that if Melbourne City is going to make it in this State, and not be in the shadow of Victory we need to win the league either this season or next season, now looking out our current squad how many players do we have signed up for 2+ years? So potentially those players will be part of a championship winning side. Can you see us winning the league with players like Duganzic, Jaliens, Weilart, Ramsay, Redmayn, Murdocca, Hoffman? No way right! For that reason they have been released. Are we going to win the league with Tando as our No.1 for the next 2 seasons? Can we afford to have Germano (visa player) injured again? Every club in the world renovates their team in the hope of going 1 better and the players they bring in a players who can take them there. For me Germano does not fit the bill in the context of the A-League we cannot afford to carry him any longer... Football players live and die by performance in big games, for us the clubs biggest game was that semi. I don't care if players have an out standing performance in Rd3, I want to see how good they really are on the big stage and I didn't see that from Germano, or Koren.
  6. As far as my opinion goes I think Germano was a great player however with all his injury struggles I don't think he was able to grow into the A-league as he would of wanted to. He has had Cameos over the past 5 season unfortunately for us.. With the speed and physicality of our game here in OZ it's hard to get the body accustomed to the style particularly when your injured for long periods.. Having said that the club needs to look else were and what people need to remember is the thumping we copped by Victory in the Semi, during that game their we many players that were not up to the level required and I included Germano in that.. Yes he did play better in the 2nd half but by that time game was gone.. The players that have been released so far were no brainers IMO when you put it in context of that semi final defeat..
  7. For our membership numbers to go up, Melbourne City need a massive season. Unfortunately we have failed to deliver anything promising in 5yrs so supporters don't have anything to grab hold of. From the outside looking in, we are a club that pretty much changes 50% of the squad each season, we don't have any young exciting talented players that we have seen mature and develop.. Our football play has been patchy and inconsistent and our recruiting (not counting this season coming up) has been boarder line embarrassing.. The pressure for everyone at Melbourne City including the back room staff have an enormous challenge a head .. I sincerely hope we smash it this season..
  8. Whilst it's good to have a goal or a target 14k members. What they need to understand once and for all.. It doesn't matter who you bring, what you spend or how great the "match day experience" is, if the product on the field is shit, performances are below the expected then 14k members may as well be a dream! The business is Football and it's easy "Put the ball in the back of the net" more times than your opponent and people will come !
  9. For me the worry is not losing Mooy, it's that I don't trust JVS, JD, or anyone in the football department to replace a player like Mooy with quality.. For 5 yrs know neither banana has been able to sign a top notch Striker while Brisbane got Barisha, Sydney got Jenko, Perth got Keon, WSW got Juric, Victory has had Archie, Adelaide have Djita.. Etc and who have we had.. Nothing but rubbish
  10. If Mooy goes James Troisi needs to be his replacement.. Koren to step up. Otherwise it will be a long season AGAIN!!!!
  11. I agree that deals for our squad should be finalised by now.. I now that the transfer window is still open so agent are taking their time to negotiate. Regardless preseason training has started and we need the full squad training and gelling well before the season starts. The game against Manchester City I must admit I was impressed with our showing (again I felt Koren was out shown by Retre, Novillo, and Triffero.) but! I don't want to hear the same excuses from JVS come Rd.1 about the team coming together late, or we need time to gel.. Melbourne City needs a solid start to the season with strong performance to build momentum.. No More Excuses I Say😠
  12. Oliver Bozanic would be a good pick up only if Mooy goes... If Mooy stays (I pray every night he will) there is no need for Bozanic..
  13. Really happy this has happened, no more getting by just doing the minimum. He never challenged anyone for a starting spot, no attempt to make any position his... With our attack being so poor Hoffman had an amazing opportunity to seal himself as a quality striker... He didn't do that and took the opportunity for granted. He was a one time olyroo striker and in a few short years he ended up being an experimental right back defender... The spot light is now firmly on Wilo this season... Another under performer just happy to be getting paid for playing football... No ambition to be a winner... Hopefully the club release him too
  14. I would have Clisby .. Because of his pace and can put in a tackle .. He can play 90min at full pace and support the attack down the wings.. If Hughes was signed as competition for Kisnorbo then ok.. If not the I don't understand the signing, considering we have Chapman who for me must be in out best 11
  15. I personally don't like this signing, not so much a player point of view but more about our recruiting and direction as a club! Makes no sense bringing in a 35yr old to play in our defence. From all reports he is a central Defender who can play in multiple positions in our defence.. There is no team in the A-league that plays with a typical number 9.. Modern football has become a front 3, very mobile and direct.. think back to our semi final thumping by Victory.. Wingers flying down the flanks, Barisha playing along the front line.. Kosta and FBK running at defenders with pace creating a 1v1 situation.. Sydney and Adelaide and Wellington play the same way.. Perth a bit different so having 2 ageing CB in Huges and Kisnorbo is a head scratcher.. How is it possible that we still can't find a quality striker that can bag 15+ goals in a season?
  16. I personally think it's great that membership is moving slowly.. The "wait and see" approach by supporters is something the club has created over many seasons of empty promises and Marketing tactics gone wrong.. Hopefully this sends a message loud and clear that we are only concerned with having a well respected team that can compete year in year out for trophies.. I believe that this season coming up, our performances on the pitch will dictate the membership drive .. and so each should, the club has failed in all 5 seasons to build a solid competitive squad that can match the likes of Syd, Vic, AU and Glory..
  17. This Club can not afford to leave Visa Spots open.. Have we learnt nothing in the first 5 seasons? VISA players and Marquee signings are the key if we are to have any success. If we lose Mooy and potentially replace him with Breac, that would be going backwards.. and to think we have owners who are invested in football with all the resources at their disposal I can't image they would make such a catastrophic error like that.
  18. I believe this was the worst decision he could have made, poorly advised and in the end he has gone to a club clearly on the down, with an ageing list of players and a coach who carries the worst coaching record in the A-league... How JA got the job in the 1st place was unbelievable... Not to mention the clubs financial issues.. He better hope Broich doesn't get injured otherwise this could be a real disaster for Jamie..
  19. With all the rumours of potential signings I'm not to concerned by it. Reality is JVS needs to perform this season and take the club forward. It was clear that CFG want an improvement from last season and with the draw we were given, more pressure and weight of expectation is on his shoulders JVS needs to build a strong squad.. If that includes Samaras, Mclaren, Drogba, or whoever then that's what will get, either way he will live or die by those decisions
  20. He has stated that he want to be given the chance to break into the starting 11, if he goes to Victory he will not be first choice but rather a good impact player.. Given JK has retired the decision for JM is simple.. He would be fighting with Gamiro for that starting spot.. If he does sign with us, our attack could be Novillo, Mclaren, Gamiro.
  21. Is there any chance we could get Nathen Burns as our new Aussie Marquee?? Would be the signing of the off season.. Cahill would be a marketing stunt
  22. I don't mind the fixture, if we are going to win the league or at least challenge for it.. we need to be able to beat any team, any time, any where. Im looking forward to Rd.7! and hoping we tear Aloisi a new ass.. Come on City...
  23. For me the interview showed how CFG look at our season in comparison to the supporters. Their perspective .. In reality we finished 6th however CFG view it as a 4th place finish which much higher than previously achieved.. They want all there clubs to be set up and successful on and off the pitch.. We have our facilities that are the envi off all other clubs. Even the most negative supporter can see they have done heaps for the club in 1year.. All of this with $25mil invested thus far. Let's be real.. The CFG let the football department run the football.. There assessment will always come at seasons end meaning JVS will not get the sack in a hurry even if we have a bad start.. If the season is not seen as progress then he will be sacked.. The only time he will get sacked mid season is if it's completely obvious or his lost the playing group. That's why my interpretation of the interview is if we finish 4th or below JVS will be sacked and players released also.. The CFG have set the bench mark and the standard.. This season coming up for the first time the football department know they must finish min top 4 and have a decent finals series.. Gone are the days were we just wanted to finish 6th
  24. I watched the Video earlier today and where he mentions briefly about Melbourne City FC leads me to believe the club is in great hands. The CFG views our season as a success given we finished (as they see it) in 4th place the highest in the clubs history. It's clear to me after the interview that whatever happened in the Heart days does not matter and has no importance to the CFG. The fact that our club has under achieved in the first 4 seasons has no bearing. Therefore our perspective as supports should change. He also states very clearly that the plan across all of the clubs is to have sustained grow and success. They are definitely in it for the long term.. I believe now (after watching the interview) that the CFG view our 4th place finish as the bench mark, anything less will be deemed unacceptable therefore the standard has been set. Finally. I believe that Melbourne City FC is putting together or reshaping the playing squad to make sure we are highly competitive next season, maybe we won't win it but will come close because anything less and it will be viewed as a failure.. This is all I have ever wanted for this club. Higher Standards, improvement year on year and to be highly competitive.. Now we have that...
