Shahanga
We've played with one attacking full back and one more defensive full back under JVS. Unless that changes it would mean a change from the Hoff (not a bad thing) and different roles for the wide players on both sides of the pitch. I'd personally prefer 2 attacking full backs with one DB dropping back into the last line of defence but I'm not the coach JVS is OK with 2 attacking wingbacks, but only wants one to attack at any given moment. Rules out goals like this: (I'm sure Baines and Coleman have combined for a few too but too hard to find) but (in theory at least) makes us more solid in defence

Make of it what you will, but on their site, Migliorini was signed by and played for "Melbourne", while Troisi signed for and played for "Melbourne Victory". A defensive/central midfielder who has been at a number of clubs in a short period of time http://www.transfermarkt.com/en/alessandro-venezia/profil/spieler_286193.html I haven't heard of him before, but maybe a product of the 36 scouts. MUTD/MLBHRT/ESSNDON
Just called Port, spoke crap about a membership then asked if they have heard any rumours about him leaving to Heart, Victory... She laughed at me and said " No haven't heard anything, would be disappointed if he wasn't with us all season. His mum is coming down in September, so all we no is his staying with us all season." When does the VPL season end?

Murfy1
Marquee striker Shane Smeltz in talks with rival clubs after quitting Perth Glory Braden Quartermaine Exclusive May 18, 2014 MARQUEE Perth Glory striker Shane Smeltz has quit the club, with Sydney FC leading the race to sign him for next season. Smeltz told Glory yesterday he would not accept a contract extension following extended negotiations. The Sunday Times understands Smeltz has received offers from A-League rivals Sydney FC and Melbourne Heart, along with strong interest from Asia, with the Sky Blues considered the frontrunner to sign New Zealand’s 2010 World Cup hero. The loss of the competition’s second all-time leading goalscorer leaves Glory in desperate need of at least one, if not two, quality strikers just a month out from the start of pre-season training. Coach Kenny Lowe will head to England on a recruiting mission this week, with a proven goalscorer and midfielders at the top of his wishlist. Smeltz, 32, said he would leave Glory on good terms after three seasons and held no animosity towards the club, despite his recent criticism over a lack of medical support for players. The former Johnny Warren medallist said he decided the time was right for a fresh challenge as he reached the latter stages of his prolific career. “The decision to leave Perth Glory wasn’t an easy one, but I am confident it is the right one,’’ Smeltz writes in his final column for The Sunday Times today. “At 32, I’ve reached the stage of my career where every season is precious and it feels like the time is right to accept a fresh challenge and test myself again.’’ Smeltz scored 28 goals in 58 appearances for Glory after joining ahead of the 2011/12 season, despite his past two seasons being curtailed by a string of injuries. He will be remembered by fans for his heroic effort in the heartbreaking 2-1 Grand Final loss to Brisbane Roar two years ago. International marquee William Gallas is still in negotiations with the club over a one-year extension. http://www.perthnow.com.au/news/marquee-striker-shane-smeltz-in-talks-with-rival-clubs-after-quitting-perth-glory/story-e6frg12c-1226921264760 Edited May 17, 2014 by Murfy1
MUTD/MLBHRT/ESSNDON
He will be 33 start of the season, even then he will still score more goals than Kennedy... Ill still want Kennedy as Australian Marquee because he is 29, but if we can fit Smelts under the cap this will be a great weapon to have off the bench! MUTD/MLBHRT/ESSNDON
Also most important part of signing Smelts under the cap, he won't take up a visa spot!
Jovan
Only positive of getting Smeltz at least he won't score against us. If and big if he goes under cap, great. Don't see it happening.
jw1739
Don't see Shane Smeltz as a way of building the sort of club I want Melbourne Heart to be.
Nate
He's a bit slower these days but he's still probably the most clinical striker in the league, I'd take him! But only under the cap, because he is injury prone.
Tommykins
I'd find Smeltz the most difficult player to get behind if we signed him. Hopefully just the rumour mill in full force.

jw1739
riley woodcock. just seen a photo of him with garuccio and mauk in dubai. We trialled this guy 12-24(?) months ago and passed him over in favour of Sam Mitchinson who we've now released. Woodcock is a left-back. A position where we have no specialist at the moment. I hope that we have at least some genuine interest if we're looking at him a second time.
