Tesla
LOL @ anyone who thinks Kennedy is shit. If you give him the service he will score a goal a game. The problem is we have a retard at the helm who thinks he can play a very specialised player in a role he is unsuited for and with no service. Please sack JVS already.Agree with this. Kennedy isn't versatile, simple as that. He won't chase down defenders for 90 minutes or make runs in behind defenders etc etc. So if our other players force him to do some of these things through poor service he will struggle. If we give him service he can work with then he will deliver. So we either need to bring better players into areas that matter that will deliver service to him or we need to get rid of him and bring in a more versatile striker that will adapt to average service. Or bring in a better coach.Exactly. FFS he was on the right wing crossing the ball in to the box at one stage (where there was no one because that's where he should have been).People commenting that he is lazy because he doesnt chase down the ball? That's just not the player he is. Doesn't mean he isn't good, plenty of quality strikers in the history of soccer that these people would think are 'lazy' if that's the metric.JVS living in his fantasy land where every player can play every position and every role. Probably why he loves guys like Hoffman and Safuwan so much, who dont have specialised skills and rely on things like physical attributes that are useful in pretty much any position/role on the field. Or bring in a better coach. Before we sack Jesus and Koren we should sack and replace JVS and then see what we can do with a far better manager/coach. 'Rudes' Rudan was making a point last night about how Dragan Stojkovic setup Nagoya Grampus essentially to feed Kennedy using wide players etc. Kennedy had a strike rate of around 1 goal every two games, that's pretty bloody good for a striker. Rudes said something like 'JVS could learn from that'. So last night we had fcukall width to feed crosses to Kennedy and he was starved of opportunities. He isn't going to chase down players like Berisha. We needed effective wing play from say Duga and Willo to cross the ball onto Jesus' scone. So what we saw was a starting lineup of make shift wingers in the form of an out-and-out striker Novillo and Koren who's an attacking midfielder. And how much service did Jesus get???????? No wonder he looked shithouse. And Mark Rudan and John Kosmina also seriously discussed that for the good of the team it might be better not having Kennedy start the game, adding that just because he's City's marquee doesn't mean he should be guaranteed a starting 11 position. n i k o
Malimate I know you don't like him but surely you realise the difference between a striker being provided service and not delivering and another not getting the service and expecting him to create a miracle of nothing. I say this without doubt, with the lack of service Kennedy got last night if he could have found ways to look threatening on goal and converted them he wouldn't be playing in the Aleague. For him to conjure up ways to score last night would have put him in a level far beyond the Aleague. FWIW if he's getting service and not delivering I'll be right next to you calling for his head.

n i k o
Crossing the ball with consistent accuracy? Of the regular players on the wing, Novillo probably could but he'd prefer to take on defenders which I'd encourage him to keep doing. Koren yes, twice he's landed the ball onto Kennedys head and resulted in a goal both times. Clisby, no. Retre, no. Williams, no. Dugandzic, no. Ramsey, no. So no we don't, besides Koren. rass
We start Koren on a wing. He's the only bloke who so far has been able to put a ball on Kennedy's head. Yet Koren has an allergy to the wings and is lucky to spend more than a few seconds there before he drifts back into a more central position. On the other side, Novillo gets it and his first instinct is to run and cut inside, not cross. Wrong players for the system or wrong system for the players. Either way, buck stops with JvS on this one.

Popular Post Tesla
Sign Villa, play him on the wing. Sign Koren, play him on the wing. Sign wingers, play them at fullback. Sign Kennedy, play him like he's Villa. Sign Brown and Williams, play them like they're Kennedy. #jvs

NewConvert
I will also add that by the 10 minute mark Kennedy had clicked up 8 touches. Someone earlier in the thread mentioned that he hadn't touched the ball six times whilst he was on the pitch. Having watched the game again, I can confirm that was not the case. Deeming
I thought his game was the best he's had for us. He was actually chasing down the ball and running more than he has before. Not sure if it was down to his fitness having caught up, his injuries getting better or his attitude improving. The last few weeks will determine the wisdom of his signing. cadete
Is this topic about something other than Josh kennedy? I'm confused here. Does this forum exist to discuss Soccer or elevate Weekday Boredom? Kennedy's problem is our ball movement is too slow, it was the same with Sibon when he was used as a Number Nine. I dont know what PPL expect from a tall lone striker at this level if the Wingers beside him are not able to get the ball effectively and more importantly quickly enough to him to get some space to get near the ball. There is only one of him and there are always two Center Halves who have all the time in the word most of time to cover the bloke. Heart_fan
I just find Kennedy's lack of pace and fitness does not allow him to run out matches, pressure defenders enough or offer much in our transitions. Yes, he may not be getting great service from out wide but other elements of play in his control have been letting him down too. His hold up play has been the key strength he has offered so far, but taking the opportunities he has had in front of goal have been less than amazing. If, as you suggest, he's in effect being marked by two centre-backs then there ought to be another of our forwards free somewhere...so I agree, and we ought to be much more looking like 4-2-4. Bringing us back to the management of the players rather than the players themselves...

I honestly would be playing Novillo beside him myself... as it would bring Kennedy into the game more even if it just to hold up the ball and Novillo seems to like run centrally as it is anyway. This in turn could also elevate the clutter we have in Central Midfield by giving Mooy more space by have some more defensively minded wingers... currently Koren seems to get in Mooy's way all the time (Likewise Murdocca when he plays) so a Diamond in Midfield might even help our problems there and Koren might be more productive if things are more simple for him playing solely on the wing. Mind you such a formation is very out of vogue these days - And I also concede that Meiling can play beside Mooy without the Clutter problem.
