Dutchy I don’t think you understand, But these guys have been involved with MH already in past.

And as the vast majority of the ppl in this thread agree on that this is exactly what we want, its the most important requirement possible because of obeying the Philosophy which is just bound to yield great results one day.

Just say that word over and over in your head: "Philosophy, Philosophy, Philosophy.... Philosophy".

I'd be happy with Milicic. He knows the players, system, our strengths & weaknesses, etc.

My biggest gripe with JVS was player selection, usually Hoffman and Srhoj being selected when there were better options available. If Milicic can put the best XI on the park and employ the systems and gameplans that JVS developed then we'll be in good hands.

First off please list a better option in the MH squad fro his position than Shroj?

(He does not deserved to be put in the boat as Hoffman.)

So its a massive plus that someone has been involved with systems and gameplans that have yeilded us a 8/11 fininsh and a 6/10 fininsh?

Its possible that there may be ppl who have applied for the job who have coached sides to finish in the top half of their leagues.

I dont want to come across as a complete cynic here (which seems to happen ever time someone says anything remotely bad about our club) but I am getting the impression that the clubs enthusiasm for someone "who knows the system and the philosophy" is code for "we cant afford anyone better"

I tend to agree.

AM or JA is getting the job. Most of us on here realizes it from the things coming out of the club, I say we just announce it now

Exactly! I think appointing either one is a massive risk, but if that is the only option then so be it. I dont mind if either one becomes manager, I just dont like being treated like an idiot and being told that there has been huge interest from around the World, they have spoken to several World class managers yet either AM or JA are still their top choices.

would certainly have Millicic over Aloisi. I simply don't think Aloisi is a smart enough person to be manager, rof. listen to Aloisi speak in interviews... He was a great player and did great things for Australian football, but I personally don't think he should leave the youth team.

This. This. This.

We searched the world, had some successful managers show interest yet after extensive search landed Ante? This will make us a laughing stock like those idiots at Victory who did the exact same thing. Which makes us worse!

FFS, I am questioning the guys running the club if this was to take place.

Cadete, doesn't matter if they've both been involved with us since the start, can Milicic emulate & eclipse JvS? If he can't we won't be improving, that should be the priority & I don't think he can.

He may have the knowledge of the club, but to me it's still a HUGE risk, he hasn't had much success or "decent" experience for more than a year, so if it does turn out bad, how does the club handle 3 managers in a year, how the does the club manage a PR crisis?

No one from the club said we are doing a "world wide search", they said that there is plenty of talent in Australia and also that AM & JA are very highly rated at the club...what they did say though is that there has been intrest from overseas...bit different to Victory who said they where doing a world wide search but signed some wanker on low wages because they thought they had the title wrapped up. With the "possibility" of relegation starting in the next 10-15 years we really need to start developing our own managers/players to fit our system.

Ange Postecoglu. You heard it here first...

Its very very important that he goes to Victory. Trust me. I have foreseen the events coming within the next year or so, and its probably the most important thing that needs to happen.

Dutch - I was agreeing with you.

And someone being highly rated by JVS means they are highly rated by a unsuccessful over paid coach.

As for the rest of the club opinions besides JA and AM who actually knows anything about the game?

SM def does not that is for sure...

Ange goes to Victory, the Greeks go with him, may as well shut up shop.

The way we recruit fans, we lose more interest and what can we do?

What is your thinking?

Sarkies and Germano offer a lot more in the holding/deep lying midfielder role than Srhoj. The fact he gives away a lot of fouls, rarely tracks any opponent near the 18 and generally tries the wrong pass most of the time make me wonder if he has the ability to suck a golfball through a length of garden hose.

AFAIK John Aloisi does not yet have the full qualifications to be an A-League senior coach. Anyway, I can't see him getting the job over Ante Milicic as that would effectively be a slap in AM's face and I would imagine he would depart pretty quickly after that.

We know the Board was dissatisfied with membership numbers and attendances last season, and it would not surprise me if they had some part in the departure of seven of our players. It's the syndicate's money that keeps the Heart going, and I'm sure they're keenly aware that the next two seasons are pretty important for the club. We're in a two-team town and we must lift our profile and our performances on the field, especially at AAMI. Even if next season doesn't deliver a trophy we need to be top four and look as though we can do it instead of bumping around in the lower half of the league.

I just don't think AM is the man for the job for the next two years and I can't believe the Board will endorse an under-the-radar coach at this point in the club's history.

What do you guys expect Fergie? Come on we're a tiny club in a tiny league. We can't afford to bring someone in from overseas and even if we could , how much do you think they could actually influence our performances? They'll have bugger all to spend on players and an average group to work with. Our best chance is to go with AM or JA and hope we uncover a great manager in waiting. Then use the funds we save on securing some better players. Next year is year three for the club, they need to start balancing the books so there's a year four.

Sarkies over Shroj? Fair dinkum. I really like the enthusiasm of Sarkies but his presence and influence on the pitch is near anonymous compared to Shroj.

My 'reservations' are related to the facts, of knowing very little about him or his manager skills, he would be a complete unknowen as far as I am concerned. If you talk about up and coming victorian coaches, I would prefer to hear the name/s Stuart Munro (Perth Glory) or Arthur Pappas (Newcastle Jets). Both have proven success at VPL level and I like the way they think, plus Pappas I'm sure, has a degree in sports science/fitness and we are realy missing a conditioning coach. I know players can't be poached by other HAL clubs, but know knothing about staff rules in this regard, nor when either of these guys contracts are up.

These are two Victorian coaches (I'm sure there are others in Australia that could be mentioned as well) I have a high regard for and would prefer see appointed before Ante Milicic, only becuase, to me he is more of a risk becuase I know nothing about him. Does not mean he would be bad, only means I have reservations untill we find out more about him and his abilities.

Other than our next Head coach/manager.

I think a conditioning coach should be approached, even as part timer from an AFL club or trainee from the uni would be better than what we have now, it is something we realy need.

I have been watching that Max's Muscle TV show, (used to be a casual gym nut) every now and then they have an afl player do some training routines, the trainer explains why and the benefit for each excercise - to minimise injuries!!, build quickness, stregnth (holding off opponant) and there are thousands of different ways to raise your fitness. - The show has opened my eyes even more to the benefits a quality conditioning coach provides and the specialised excercises there are for sportspeople.

Pretty sure it will be Milicic with Aloisi as his assistant. Would then like to see Mulvey signed for the youth team. Would actually prefer Mulvey as assistant but pretty sure Aloisi has the job.

looks that way...

they need an experienced personality closely working with them though otherwise it could end badly....

Moops, if the club know Milicic and are prepared to give him the job on that basis, then why wouldn't that reassure you? No appointment is without risk, look at AVB at Chelsea. Look closer to home at Ange or even Holger, everyone was saying 'Holger who?".

I have never trusted/had faith in something I cannot reason with, blind faith is more akin to Jihad than calculated opinion.

I knew about Holger and from the start thought he was a good appointment, Ange, Always thought he got the raw prawn and reserved judgment, with a view of optimism. Graham Arnold has surprised me, I realy did not rate his man management skills and thought he would be quite average, but hoped he would prove me wrong and all the neysayers, what a pleasant surprise it was to see him develop a team. Milicic has no history, not even input about the present team/performances. He is an unknowen, a mystery still to be unwrapped and revealed, there is nothing to make any kind of judgment on, other than the fact that the board see something in him.

Which is a positive and why I changed the word from concerned, to reserved.

Chealsea is an entirely different beast, a team based on individuals, rather than an individual team based on team players.

I pity any manager who has to take charge of that team.
