Absolutely. It all depends on whether CFG and its 34 scouts can get us another strong midfield.

Melling has shown he has a good pass on him and switches the play nicely, not saying that he can replace Mooy, but he should be starting next season imho, I think he has great potential.

If we get Kamau, that's the right side sorted, a left winger/wide forward on the left and a playmaker from Spain is all we would need to make him score.

I don't want kamau the diving cunt, our memories must be short this is the cunt who dropped like a sack of shit and cost us the second goal last week.

Be angry with Clisby, it was a pen any day of the week, that's the danger when defenders slide in the box.

I believe he is talking about the other game that was played at Hindmarsh when he fell like a sack of shit. Should he play for us and fall like a sack of shit and win us a penalty all will be forgiven.

What's the source for Fornaroli re-signing for $1.8m?

Tesla's source is Makalo..

But seriously it apears SST's source is a city fan tweeting them around about the time Tesla posted in this thread. Presumably the fan is going off what Tesla has said.

Posted on Bruno's wife's instagram yesterday. Probaly going back to Uruguay for the off season...  But is that a lot of luggage? Or am I developing off-season paranoia?

I wouldn't read a thing into the amount of luggage in that pic. The players get about 6 weeks leave (and international players get a little bit more), so it all looks about right.

I would read something into the one statement Melbourne City has made about Fornaroli (and Novillo), namely:

Quote

City refused to comment on either player but said they expect to see the pair back for pre-season in late June.

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/football/a-league/no-guarantees-bruno-fornaroli-and-harry-novillo-will-be-at-melbourne-city-next-season/news-story/417c96b7897da9d7b4139f3224bb35b7

So the club seems pretty optimistic that Fornaroli will be back for next season. The club IMO do themselves no favours by being so tight-lipped, but the club in its cards-close-to-its-chest way seems to be indicating that Fornaroli will stick around.

This. Plus Bruno's face is still splashed all over our membership sales drive. CFG wants him to stay

Davutovic on Studs Up today said he has been offered $800k which hasn't been accepted but hasn't been rejected. He said he will either accept it or see out the second year of his contract on current wages

Help me out here. If your boss offers you a 400% payrise why on earth would you reject it in order to be paid the old amount?

and don't say because he can leave. The truth in football is players leave whenever they want, they force the clubs to sort out the move.

I think it could mean CFG has said "take $800k or see out your contract"

There maybe some other conditions attached, as an example a drop in base salary but an increase on bonus for goals, or a contract extension embedded in it, etc.

And probably for three years as per Mooy. So if he continues on the present contract and has another excellent year he can walk on a free to any club who wants him. Whereas if he signs the new contract and has another excellent year anyone wanting him will have to pay a transfer fee.

He'll sign. Because he knows he's very unlikely to score 25 goals in another 27-match season.

Great stat on Bruno regarding his shooting accuracy: not only did he score the most goals, but he also was the most accurate striker (got the highest percentage of shots on goal):

Quote

1. Bruno Fornaroli (Melbourne City) - 60 of his 90 shots were on target at an accuracy rate of 66.7%.

And deservedly the goal-scoring machine has made the cover of this month's FourFourTwo Australia Magazine (after Mooy made the cover last month):

Impossible to go to Sydney or any other A League club.

There is no way the City would release him out of his contract to play for another A League side.

If another team outside the A League came in with a transfer fee different story.

Just never going to happen.

All whats going to eventuate will be a new negotiated figure 1m to 1.5 my guess.

I agree and I think it's time that City and indeed other A-League clubs take contracts more seriously than at present. Players such as Mooy, Fornaroli and Novillo are under contract with City for 2016-17 (and 2017-18 in the case of Mooy). As far as I am concerned players should fulfil their contracts. If a player wishes to re-negotiate that contract then fine, but either come to a new agreement, or fulfil the remainder of the existing contract and then leave on a free at its conclusion, or continue to play for the club but be placed on a transfer list at a transfer fee to be set by the club. AFAIK that's pretty much what happens elsewhere.

ATM these players can effectively hold the club to ransom. We don't know whether they are staying or going, and that makes the job of assembling a decent squad for next season all the more difficult. We don't know how many visa players we are looking at, or how many marquees. How can we sign the rest of the squad if we don't know who the key players will be?

I don't really care how good a player is. He needs to understand that he's on a contract, and what his options are. If a player walks out on a club in those circumstances then as far as I am concerned he can remain in the wilderness for the remainder of his contract.
