Anyone know of an ENTER score below 9.8? Mate got that and we still laugh about it now. Jokes on us though as he's doing better than all of us financially driving a Courier van.

I always that was impossible because the count the PPL who quit through out the year.

That and the fact my not very bright Cousin got 40 and he didnt even know when two of exams were on until his mates came to his house pick him up to take him to them.

Do they also count the people that fail?

I'm pretty sure you also need to pass every subject to get an ENTER, so to put in enough effort to pass every subject but to be so bad that you get a 9.8, bloke deserves an award.

I dont know when I heard my theory of the quitters being counted.

For all I know it was probably with a Swan Draught in my hand at Rottnest Island Schoolies in 2000 so its could have been an old system, not applicable about Victoria or even bloody true.

Tbh the biggest factor that will affect your score is effort.

10/10 post.

However a few people got by out of my friendship group with next to no effort. A friend of mine got a 76 without studying a single moment and often rocking up to exams hungover/did his Media exam after at night at Revs.

Apart from the few special ppl - effort is what separates the 90+ to the 80-

And that's consistent effort..if my sac results were all at the same level as my exam results I could have maybe gone to a cadete endorsed university :). I did put heaps of effort in but it was sporadic and reactionary to how much workload I had, no consistent work ethic really and no weekly revision shit (essential IMO so you don't need to relearn your first semester like I did). But at exams I locked myself inside for 2 months and the results came.

Ps I don't know anyone who put a considerable effort into year 12 and wasn't happy with their atar.

Pre exam revs sessions are not advisable.

Year 12 was probably the best year of my life with everyone turning 18. Enjoy the year, keep up with your work and study before exams. The rewards afterwards are great schoolies, travel, uni ect.

what i was trying to say was this -

my maths scores are about average, however my work ethic is the subject is very low, which will obv affect my scores next year.

i dont fund further too hard (im not doing methods) and really dont want to do Further unless it is a requirement for uni etc...

Pretty sure every course (say 90%) would want people with a background in maths, whether it be further, methods or general.

With further being the common Prerequisite and only the high atar required courses (85+) demand methods or specialist

Am I right?

Most hard sciences (not referring to level of difficulty) require methods. They can be gotten into from about 75 up I think

I think Methods pre requisite act more like a separator particularly getting into courses at monash, which is why if you are good at methods you can be thankful that there are way to many people who shouldn't even be attempting it. I believe but could be wrong there are only two courses where Specialist is a pre req, being actuarial studies, and one more, but specialist is generally suggested for many courses

BUMP

Seems like there are not as many younger lads on here anymore (but how can we really know).

good luck to the guys who still have some exams to go.

I'm in the middle of my year 10 exams at the moment so all going well I will get to do the subjects I want next year.

The plan is:

Business Management 3/4

English

Methods 1/2

Accounting 1/2

Economics 1/2

Legal Studies 1/2

Seeing as you're doing methods, I'm posting assuming maths doesn't frighten you too much.

Seriously consider knocking further maths 3/4 off the list in year 11 also.
If you put the necessary time into that unit, you'll smash it.

It would be a busy year 11 for you.. but going into year 12 with (hopefully) good marks in 2 3/4 units will give you a massive leg up on the competition.

Only advice I can give to people is: Don't stress about VCE.

Sure some amount of stress is needed but don't go full retard.

Plenty of people (myself included) have managed to do exactly what they wanted, in the same timeframe, with a lower ATAR (in my case this was 15 points lower).

Enjoy year 11 and 12 because when it ends you'll wish you appreciated it more!

I agree. Conversely I did quite well in VCE and ended doing the course I was always going to due to be interested in it which the ENTER/ATAR was almost 15 points lower than I got. Long story short: study, do some planning but also have fun. I would love to be 18 again. Great year of my life.

+1 to these sentiments, even if you do shit you can easily get into the course you want eventually, uni marks translate very well compared to ATAR when trying to change course.

Plus, studying your ass off to get into a course is asking for trouble IMO, unless you plan on maintaining that level of effort throughout uni. There were plenty of retards in the course I did who would have had to have an ATAR of at least 93 or something, I'm guessing studying hard + being spoon fed by their private schools. Then when they got to uni they were lost.

Even worse is cunts who spend 6 months and $x,xxx on LSAT preparation thinking they'll be lawyers, if the type of thinking needed to study law doesn't come naturally to you you'll always be fighting an uphill battle.

No hate though, if you really want to do something and are willing to put the effort in you'll be fine, but trying to do something that doesn't suit your natural abilities without having the passion and determination to do what it takes will not end well.

TLDR: Give it a good shot but it's not the end of the world, or the start of it.

And like BH, this isn't someone who had a shit score trying to justify themselves, I did pretty well (and got into my 1st choice course) considering I have an attention span of about 2 seconds and was never able to focus in class let alone at home.

It's been 2 years since Year 12 and in my years at Uni I have realised that ATARs don't matter as much as some people would like you to believe. My ATAR was pretty shit, but here I am, doing fairly well at Uni and preparing to study in Japan next year.

To be fair though I didn't set the bar very high in terms of courses which I think lessened the stress that I was under come Year 12 exams, so I am not the best person to talk to if you want to be a Lawyer or something haha!

Cheers guys, appreciate the insight.

@CJ, not particularly mad about maths all together but I need methods as a prequequisite for the uni courses I'm aiming for. Also not overly mad about the idea of two 3/4s.

Definately agree with you tesla about the spoon-feeding and studing mentality.

I beleive the VCE is just a game- so play the game.

In year 11 and 12, my school has IB as well as VCE. Tried the IB for 1 semester but couldn't be fucked so changed to VCE or else year 12 would be stressful next year.

IB is pretty useless unless you actually have good working habits and can actually achieve high 90s for the ATAR cos the marking scheme is actually quite easy.

G'day fellas,

Not in VCE at the minute (Year 10) but am still needing help.

Got an essay to write, I'm usually really good at English but for some reason I'm stuck on this essay. The topic is: at what age should kids be allowed to date? Really confused, so any help would be appreciated.

C'mon lads ease up on the kid.

We were all in year 10 once.

This coming from a bloke who made two Multi's to keep posting on here when he was banned for a few days...

And dont do your "Oh Det" crap because once you make a Multis for this place of all places you lose all your right to play the "Laissez Faire Forum Poster Card".

What does this have to do with anything I have posted?

If you're just trying to stir some shit mate,  you're going to have to try a lot harder then 'calling me out'  on two accounts I made to take the piss.

Because the subject was "Poor Posting" you have made done some pretty shit posting of your own over the years... hence your recent ban.

I am just pointing out that making any Multi's for a Melbourne City or Heart forum for that matter is bloody lame, let alone Multiple Multi's... even if they were made for apparently humorous reasons that nobody on here got.

The list of Multiple Multi Makers for this place reads like a "who's who" of Melbourne City/Melbourne Heart Flogs.

I don't think anyone on here is perfect when it comes to posting,  but fe,  each to their own.

A few people liked the post I made on the multi  about tennis and a few chuckles  were had but I can see why I was banned. Some people think it's lame like yourself,  I guess it's subjective

Fair enough, I will concede that you did create these Multi's under your own name purely for humor and not at all to seek anonymity... which is a act that has been done on here by others in the past that is my principle reason for disliking Multis.
