Michael Mifsud

I watched the game, and I should qualify my post by saying it's the only Heart game I've seen so far.  I saw his miss, but I also saw most people trying to find him with aerial balls.  There were a couple of occasions where they tried to release him into space with a ball on the ground but there were way more high balls played towards him that were swallowed up easily by the central defenders.  He looks like the sort of guy who plays off the last defender (hence all the offside calls) so he would benefit from either a change in tactics.or a partner up front.

I'm putting it out there, he has the WORST touch the aleague has ever seen since it's inception. Seriously.

also is the worst player since the A-League's inception. For fuck sake id rather have Lisandro Love or Richardhino than this pathetic excuse of a football player.

As shit as he is. Come on now. Remember some of the players that have previously donned the red and white. Agree. Maycon.

But he was good for a laugh with a puff of wind knocking over and his arm raised while rolling around on the deck holding his head  :P

I'm Maltese. Michael Mifsud is fucking shit. He has to be quite unintelligent to not understand the offside rule as a striker.

I have to concur.

Can't even do the simplest of things. How the hell did he miss that?

It absolutely kills me to say it because I desperately wanted him to succeed, but it is just mind blowing the chances he misses.

Same here man.

Not only am I furious that he's letting down my club but I'm furious at the fact that after years of watching him play and following his career that this is what he dishes up.

You just can't defend him, he's done as a footballer outside of Malta, and even IN Malta he'd be done if he was missing chances like this.

Ive defended him to through everything (as everyone has constantly reminded me of on this forum), but I just cant anymore without being delusional.

I know hes a better footballer then what he's been dishing out and its bloody dissapointing. Had very high hopes for him but unfortunetly he just hasnt been good enough this season and thats putting it lightly.

In saying that though, hes still my man and i'm not a soft cock who will dump him. Hopefully he turns it around, but i dont see it happening.

I don't know why JVS doesn't drop him to the NYL for a few weeks until he starts scoring regularly. Play Williams as a 9.

Bela, at this stage of the season there's probably little point in this. The NYL is not really a measure of a senior player's ability at all - speaking from what I was witnessing two seasons ago at John Cain when we played there. Senior players dropped to the NYL playing against 17 and 18-y-olds doesn't tell you much at all.

Michael Mifsud has been terribly disappointing for us so far. No question, and I can't defend him any longer. But really, who hasn't? I would rate our best forward as being Harry Kewell (never thought I'd say that) but even he made a terrible hash of that penalty and hasn't scored from open play.

It seems like the rest of the team has no confidence in him either. A few times in the 1st half he made good runs off the shoulder of last defender but Behich wouldn't pass him the ball. When you're in such bad form that it makes people think twice before giving you the ball you're in a very bad place. No turning it around from here Michael..Please gtfo.

Can't believe this guy's performance. After watching his latest misses at AAMI and now Adelaide I was hoping someone might compile a video of Mifsud's efforts this season? Could make a great comedy show.

Don't forget to include Benny Hill's music...... A must!!!

Not 100% sure what the situation is with Mifsud.

David Basheer first tweeted yesterday that he had a back injury, then he tweeted 'Mifsud strained muscle in his side not a back injury'.

But David Davutovic simply tweeted yesterday 'I'm hearing Mifsud's been dropped' and Michael Zappone tweeted at Basheer 'I'm told it's not injury #MHTvSYD #mifsud #haveagoodcall'.

Whatever's the case with Mifsud, we are extremely light in the Striker department, with Dmac gone and Golgol not even making the NYL team (and possibly being gone himself). We have about 5 wingers as well, or 6 if you count Golgol, but effectively 0 strikers with Mifsud out of the squad.

Can't help but think that we should bring in a striker on a 10 game contract immediately. I reckon Sidwell and co. would have done so if the takeover didn't happen, which is why it would be a bit annoying if we didn't bring someone in. And IMO it sounds plausible, the club could say it was JD and the coaches decision (although maybe they could pay for it) if they didn't want it to be a Man City decision.

At least we're scoring goals, but the situation with our strikers is ridiculous ATM.

It's a shame as he'll be better with some confidence and 10 or so goals in a few NYL games

Imagine there'd have to be at least a decent chance that he comes back through there, if he's right to go next week. A spot's opened up with Engelaar's absence, but he'd hardly be a like-for-like.

Seeing his enthusiasm after the game last night (he's either the greatest actor in the world, or he was genuinely as happy as any of the guys who played), he seems like a tough guy not to like. I just want him to get some confidence so when he does get back, he'll be in a good position to contribute.

Yep, mifsud is done. Wierd we didnt look to get someone for the end of the season. Sack mifsud and bring in someone on loan from city reserves orsomething. But as long as the results keep coming I am happy to see Mifsud mbenched or not even there

Looks like Mifsud will end up with the same figures as Maycon, except he has been paid at least three times as much as Maycon. :hkpalm:

I really thought he could turn it around early on as well. :(

Extremely disappointed with how it's turned out.

I also reserved some hope that he could turn it around but it looks like his participation in the first team is all but done now. We don't currently create enough chances to miss the guilt edged ones like he has been.

It annoys me because if he could actually hit the target with any sort of consistency he'd have 7-8 goals, we'd be much further up the table and his signing would probably be viewed as somewhat of a success...that being said, JA may still have a job if that was the case so there you go.
