Brodebec
Well it looks like this team will be named the Wanderers... Still not a fan TBH. Are you going off the NewSydneyClub tweets talking about the FFA registering Wanderers names? They also have registered Athletic etc so not sure how definitive that is if so. I think Wanderers will get the nod though. Stupid name for a football club - is this what they want their club to be associated with? Dictionary.com defines wander as: wan·der   [won-der] verb (used without object) 1.to ramble without a definite purpose or objective; roam, rove, or stray: to wander over the earth. 2.to go aimlessly, indirectly, or casually; meander: The riverwanders among the rocks. 3.to extend in an irregular course or direction: Foothillswandered off to the south. 4.to move, pass, or turn idly, as the hand or the eyes. 5.(of the mind, thoughts, desires, etc.) to take one directionor another without conscious intent or control: His attentionwandered as the speaker droned on. They'll always be The Unicorns. God even that is less wishy washy than Wanderers.

KSK_47
My understanding is that the traditional nickname Wanderers came about because clubs initially had difficulty finding a permanent home ground. In other words, they wandered. From what I can tell other clubs did take on this nickname without having this issue, but it is certainly seems to be a traditional English club name. Although I have been told that there is some kind of historical significance to the name in West Sydney. Is that right?
Ticker
Wanderers is perfect, Sydney FC has the city and the Wanderers will have to draw fans from everywhere else in NSW and be a bit like GWS playing in all the other areas opening up possibilities to play in Woolongong and even Canberra. I thought the idea for the name came about due to a proposal that they 'wandered' between 3 or so grounds out in the west as a permanent feature of the club. The idea being that they were aiming at embracing all of Western Sydney.

But at least I know what people are talking about when they say the name has significance to the area now.

I think he will be a fantastic coach, wish we could have gotten him back to Sydney FC but it is nice to have Crook back too.

FB.
Well Pride now seems a serious contender . And they can shove it if they think they can use Strikers, that belongs to Brisbane. How are Strikers crowds these days? I know when they missed out on getting a HAL licence alot there supporters vowed to never to follow the Rawr. Do people still follow them in the state league? Have also heard they have a huge playing budget and are one of the wealthiest clubs in QLD. Edited May 15, 2012 by FB.

Libero
but no mention of Milicic. maybe we can keep him.... first thing i thought about when i heard the news. as i said in a different thread, Milicic would be more likely to be the head coach of us before West Sydney, since Popovic is more likely to be a better coach than Aloisi. downbylaw
Do we really think Aloisi and a bitter Milicic can work together in the same coaching team? Imagine the conflict behind the scenes. Where's he said that his 'bitter'? I've heard him say his 'disappointed ' which is entirely expected and understandable. I do understand what you mean though mate, but we can't automatically assume his bitter with Aloisi as such, especially when reports say they are quite good mates.. I would suggest his beef would be more with the board. Time will tell us a lot about his character if he does stay on. Hopefully his the consummate professional and dust's himself off and works even harder!

Yeah, he'll get his chance eventually! maybe it could be with us in 2-3 seasons? in fact, i would want him to be upset, so it shows us that he cares for the position, but i hope he can get over it and continue working with us. i would be shocked if hes upset at Aloisi for beating him to the coaching role. i agree, if anything, it will be at the board. downbylaw
Back on topic, does this mob have a name, ceo, home ground or colors yet? Voted a few weeks back from memory, personally voted black, white and red along with Wolves. Rangers, Wanderers (both terrible imo) and Wolves(not much better but the least 'try hard' of the three imo) are what I can remember to pick from. jw1739
Presumably West Sydney's assistant coaching team will be announced in the next couple of weeks. IMO, given that Popovic and Milicic are related by marriage, Milicic will be made an offer.
