  1. Tbh this whole situation is the supporters fault. We really have been too lax here. If this were Italy or Argentina we would have hopped the fence at training, taken the player's shirts off their backs, kidnapped JVS and left him in a ditch somewhere and held the board hostage until they appointed Maradona as captain-coach. We really have fucked up here.

  3. I would replace him regardless of the result although I would wait until the team is effectively out of the finals.

  5. Reading way too much into that comment guys. I honestly dont think the team would be going up there thinking they dont have a chance. I just think he is going with the thought that no one guys us a hope in hell and playing up the underdog tag and putting the pressure back on the home side which is exactly where the pressure should be to be honest. Thats exactly how i took those comments anyways, but thats just me

  7. the game, the clubs and (most importantly) the sporting scene in Australia are no where near ready to go without a salary cap. pure and simple, you are begging clubs to throw good money after bad in order to "win" / buy a trophy. most clubs will go broke / be priced out of any serious long term competitiveness. and for all you out there who dont care because our club now has money, you need to understand the more we push teams out of the league because its too expensive to be competitive, the harder it comes to keep sponsors and fans coming back. sponsors want the big games and regular commercial interest via broadcasting (something that takes more clubs than fewer clubs and teams that are capable sides), while long term fans want more than a half decent game every month. think how shit it would be to play teams like St Kilda every week. thats not to say St Kilda wont ever improve, but that is what happens when teams dont have the means to make a change (short or long term). at least in the AFL they have a draft system and salary cap that force clubs to both top and bottom out every few years. only the really well managed clubs stay up for longer than they should, but even then just Geelong. they have been great for the best part of a decade, but even they are now bottoming out.

  8. TBH Bela, I'm yet to be convinced that anyone at Bundoora cares a jot about what we think. If they did I think they would be asking us some serious questions by some personal contact rather than hiding behind generic FFA surveys, and actually giving us some personal feedback. Maybe I'm just a bit disillusioned after another mediocre season and the usual fade-out at the end, but my impression is that management has decided that they know best about how to run things and that we can take it or leave it.

  9. Just read the Herald Sun and see Paddy quoted as saying "We have nothing to lose, no one expects us to win". You have an A League final to lose, you moron. Another example of mediocrity.

  10. Yes it worked well last time we chose a coach due to his media skills didn't it? How about this for an idea? Hire a hard nut coach who can coach. Any clown can do the media.

  11. But I'd apply that to pretty much all of them. Who apart from, say, Mooy and Melling, actually looks as though they are playing for the shirt? Or even for their contract? I suggest that they're all too bloody comfortable. Rock up for 90 minutes or so each day for a bit of a run-around in the best training facilities in the league by a mile. Nice comfy work clothes provided. Play once a week for a coach who doesn't demand anything at all from you, half the time in the best playing facility in the country. Get a knock on the leg and take half the season off on full pay. Annual all-expenses paid holiday in the U.K. flying business class. Easy wicket really. It's not only Koren. They all need a hefty kick up the backside.

  12. FFS People stop with the doom and gloom shit. I was just as shattered watching that pathetic display on Saturday night as you blokes were (especially for the supporters who travelled), but this is a new week and it's finals time. I'd much prefer to be in the finals and have the hope we may do one over Wellington than be CCM Newcastle WSW or Perth how have nothing to do but ponder a shit season. Ok our season hasnt been flash, but considering where we were last season at this point, i'm a lot happier now than i was back then. For me, this is what nees to happen for us to have a chance. Kennedy needs to start on the bench. Doesnt give us anything what so ever going forward. A flag pole give more tan this bloke. We all understand Willo can be fuckin frustrating, but at least he offers something. Even though we didnt put away our chances against Perth, we looks so much better going forward with a striker who actually makes runs and doesnt stand there like a stiff peice of shite left by the local stray dog. Might have to push Germano in the RB position or Retre and play Koren in the middle. Would much prefer either Dugandzic or even (dare i say it) Ramsay on the wing as Koren doesnt show enough on the wing and is wasted there imo. Or the alternative, is we play the 442 diamond. If i remember correctly, last time we played them we used that formation and it worked well. If we do, put Germano at LM. Maybe go with this.... Retre Kisnobo Chapman Clisby Paartalu Germano Koren Mooy Williams Novillo What you reckon guys

  13. The goal was to make the finals. Goal achieved so they can smugly coast until the next pre-season

  14. At the moment logic and common sense predicts 3:0 loss. By Saturday night I'll be leaning towards a 1:0 win. By Sunday full time I'll be planning my weekend gardening schedule for next 4 months.

  15. Special mention to those guys who travelled to Adelaide and throughout the season to support a bunch of spuds. Spending your well earned cash on something you get no benefit from.

  16. If past history is anything to go by, Major signing would mean: a. We've signed Travis Major from CCM b. Ticker/Bluey is returning next season c. We've signed another sponsor on our shorts Sooooooo excited

  17. Yes Tomykins meant he was 26 when he first came here (because that suited his argument ). The next poster just got confused. We all want great players in their mid 20s who are willing to come to Australia and play under a salary cap. They do exist, but they are nestled in a hell of a lot of frogs.

  18. I'm guessing thats a 90 mins win? Pretty good TBH given they are at home. On another note, gambling is fucking my view of money up, the average person makes like $200 in a day of work, seems fucking shit when I can just win that in 1 bet. This is not going to end well.

  21. My huge man-crush Patrick Cripps has won the Round 4 nomination for rising star and deservedly so. This guy played one of the best games for the club I've seen in quite some time and he's only just turned 20, it's hard to believe it was only his 5th game too. Going to be a star!

  23. Why can't the board just stop thinking they know things and instead make decisions based on my posts on this forum. It was like 2 games into the season when I started this thread and it was already clear he wasn't going to do the job. Sack the board. Appoint Tesla.

  25. I seriously hate finals. As awful as it would be, Victory should have won the league yesterday rather than us going through the next few weeks of bullshit. We will lose this 4-1

  26. 2014-15 Carrusca -29 Broich - 29 Berisha – 26 Koren - 34 Mainkovic - 28 Janko – 30 2013-14 Engelaar – 33 Contreras – 35 Heskey – 34 Gallas – 36 Ono – 32 Del Piero - 37 These are the ages of designated marquee players and the age they were when they first came to the A-League. For my money, the ones who were younger when they came to Australia were the best, regardless of the pedigree they had behind them.

  27. That was against Nunawading, I'd back you to put 3-4 past them jw. I don't think he's without potential (the opposite in fact) but I think big minutes against larger bodies will be better for his development long term.

  28. did JVS go back to a 4-3-3 formation against adelaide on the weekend? IMO we played our best we've ever played all season playing 4-4-2 against wellington a couple of weeks ago. He surely has to adopt that again this week, especially given how well it suited the players we have, and also how well it worked against wellington.

  29. Ok so we change it to this: Retre Kisnobo Chapman Clisby Paartalu Germano Mooy Koren Williams Novillo Would you agree though that this 11 and formation is probably our best chance of getting past Wellington? If Kennedy starts, i'll be already conceding the loss. I think he would be perfect coming on late and trying go with the crosses in the box, but besides that, he is worthless I don't mind it, but imho, I would not start Paartalu at all. I believe he has had a torrid time and that Wellington attack is one of the quickest going around - he will just end up getting exposed so badly. So I would have Germano and Mooy(whether he likes it or not) rotate through that dm role that is currently Erik's. Then i would also throw in Murdocca into that midfield purely because of his buzz/hustling and final winning experience which is just so valuable. I like the theory of Willo starting, but so worried about it as his form this year has been better as a sub... hmm thinking about it though, I do believe his starting performances have been better when away from home... So something like: Velaphi Retre Chapman (worried about his form atm tho) Kisnorbo Clisby Germano/Mooy Murdocca Germano/Mooy Koren Williams Novillo If we can get Jaliens off his auto 1 week suspension, then I would play him instead of Chapman.

  30. I don't agree with Mooys position, he needs to be our box to box player. Leave Korean in behind our front two strikers.

  31. Wellington's pathetic is better than our pathetic. In Nathan Burns they have a player who works hard and scores goals, unlike our slow, lumbering, one trick pony with a sore back. Come to think of it, he couldn't make the game to Perth, so wonder if he'll make it to New Zealand?

  34. Cannot see us getting up in this. Our defence was poor against Adelaide, and we have a toothless forward line.

  35. They play like they hardly care. On the eve of the finals. How is this meant to motivate supporters to follow them interstate, spend hundreds of dollars and waste a weekend to see another pathetic display of backyard soccer. God damn shame on you ....... Bunch of spoiled pretenders. I booked next weekend off to head out and see the game. Now I'd rather do something more enjoyable so I'm booking a visit to my dentist instead. I've never been so angry watching a game before, was hard watching with my young son. Still bloody angry about that performance even now. What a pathetic mindset they were in at the start. This club continuously shoots itself in it's foot. With a half decent display, I was considering heading to Adelaide for the game, but not after that shit. Happy it's in NZ now! I applaud anyone heading over, your passion and insanity is admirable - and that's from a Saints supporter! Fuck my life would be a lot easier if i supported Tards/Hawks!

  36. On a positive note, this #final450/360/270/180/90 campaign has been another unintentional comedy home run from the marketing department. You'd think they could at least give us a #final0 promo for the lols...I don't ask for much.

OK, what does it have to do with you? lol that's like saying "my parents Migrated from (insert country here e.g. Macedonia ) and because it was not me who was born there, then I forgo any connection with that history". Silly post by you TES.

  40. TTIM; People using Anzac Day either way to push political agendas. It's a day to remember those who died in the horrors of war. Not a day to push nationalist or anti-government agendas. Worse is the commercialisation of it all. Woke up first thing this morning to an iTunes email advertising the top 50 Australian war stories and that crap Target was peddling. TTDIM; The thousands there for the right reasons, in particular the younger generations.

  41. Just as a (silly) comparison: If memory serves me correctly Man City finished mid-table first season after / during the Sheikh takeover. Then 5th, then 3rd, then won the league. I think we all knew deep down we weren't gonna win the league but it is baby steps in the right direction, from wooden spooners to finalists... Next season should see us top 4 IMO. With that said we're ganna win the league!
