kingofhearts
Good bloke, but this is nothing but good news. He was clearly past it imo and now we can focus on getting ourselves a younger striker.
illeatyourheart
Definitely sad news. I loved watching him play for Australia and he was usually worth a vital goal off the bench. Hope we can sign up someone huge instead!

illeatyourheart
If Cahill's recent 2 goals with Shanghai aren't enough to apease them, could we see him at City?
Nate
well shit, not sure what to thinkI'm skeptical as to whether we'll ever actually get our Aussie marquee right
mus-28
Bresciano or Cahill, which of the Golden Generation will be next to retire prematurely.
thisphantomfortress
No way would Bresc command marquee wages anymore. Give Mooy whatever he wants and keep him as Aus marquee and throw his wages at a decent visa player.
tommac
Sad to see Kennedy go out due to injury issues.. But yeah, excited to see what that may mean for us and an Aussie Marquee. Initial thoughts as options are: SchwarzerScott McDonaldNathan Burns (or is he still contracted to Phoenix and no transfers between A-League clubs right?)Alex Wilkinson CahillJuricCurtis Good/Rogic ?? (Maybe with Mooy or Franjic bumped up to Marquee to free space under the cap)

GreenSeater
Really sad that he had to finish his career the way he did. Should have retired instead of signing for us. I will always remember him for that goal against Iraq to send us to Brazil rather than his performances for us.

OG-12
Not sure how I feel about this one, not much you can do about injury but it would've been nice to see what he could do with wingers (actual wingers not midfielders playing on the wing)Â that could actually cross. As for the Aus Marquee spot, it's time to upgrade to a better, faster model than this one:Â Â Â Edited June 26, 2015 by OG-12

Have him stand on the penalty spot and wait for him to be onside then deliver to him?  Pretty much. If you sign a guy who cant move around but is taller than everyone and is great at heading the ball wouldnt you get him to hang in the box and make sure he gets service? How would you have played him if you signed him?
Info@VW
Off the bench...This guy did well in Asia without having to run, because he was coming up against midgets.

Just instruct him to take up space? I assume anyone who knows anything about him would try to get as many crosses as possible to him. Thats what I mean by no utilized properly. I'm not saying he was a great signing or anything, I just think that most people's aggression towards him because he is slow and unfit should probably be directed elsewhere.

Nate
How many Australian internationals have retired at our club now? - Skoko- Aloisi- Bolton- Grella- Kewell- KennedyNo more oldies pls
Murfy1
As he said in his statement his body is worn out, so this is the best outcome for everybody. Kennedy clearly applied himself, even though he didn't have much gas left in the tank. Also Duff's injury and a lack of width in possession didn't help Kennedy on the pitch either, but Kennedy still soldiered on and popped up with a decisive goal to help us win our first finals much, so big credit to him. Now let's see what the club can do with the team's striker position..

We sign a guy who has obvious physical limitations and then play in a way that does not suit him what so ever. Then people crack the shits at him for not doing a good job.Like I've said, I'm glad he's gone but the people who decided it was a good idea to sign him are still here. They are the ones I'm pissed off at.
Info@VW
Maybe now we can play football the right way with the ball on the fkn ground, and not so one dimensional and predictable just running down the wings and whipping a thousand crosses in with the ball coming straight out.

Probably for the best he is gone though, really cbf watching another season of Kennedy putting crosses into the box for a winger, rather than the other way around ffs.
