belaguttman
I have been talking to a few Victory Supporters about this situation at work... Seems they are pissed with how the FFA and Vic police treat the supporters here in Melbourne... Â Its time to stand up as a supporter group.. I'm on board with whatever is decided... The Visitards had a multi level banner that they had made to use at their last game against Sydney but decided to keep until the derby. I imagine that they are in the same position. Given that our love of football unites us almost as much as their stupidity and arrogance divides us, a joint protest would be a powerful statement. HeartinHobart
One thing that I've learnt from this situation is that this club still has great active support. We saw yarraside and those involved provided the club with both great support and great tifo's and banner. I for one questioned whether this level of time and effort would continue under the rebranded club. You guys have certainty proved that. So well done to all involved in making this tifo... Hoping we'll see it in the near future.

Chez
Just had a look on Victory's City thread. A few of said this probably effects us but the other half have said tough titties. Doubt a stadium wide protest is possible. I think a 45 minute sit down protest from us would be somewhat noticed. belaguttman
I've just sent this email to Mr de Bohun and suggest that others consider something similar   Dear Damian  I am writing as a 58 year old general admission season ticket holder of the Melbourne City franchise to express my dismay at the late decision of FFA to ban the proposed Melburnians tifo at this week’s Melbourne derby. I do understand the safety issues and I do understand that there have been instances of ‘derby warriors’ who only attend derby games and who set off flares and smoke bombs in active areas. I believe that this has been used as a reason to ban, at late notice, the proposed tifo display. My concern is that there seems little effort (as an observer at all home games) on behalf of either Vic Police or security to work with active groups to stop this problem. I was appalled at one recent game to witness disproportionate force by Vic Police to deal with a fan standing on a seat that resulted in the use of pepper spray. With reference to this weekend it seems that active support obtained the franchise permission for the tifo and spent $5,000 of their own money constructing it only to have permission withdrawn at the last minute, effectively fining all members of active support who had contributed. This appears to be an arbitrary and selective group punishment of a new supporter group of generally well behaved active young supporters, the very group that provide what is unique about the atmosphere in our game. It appears that both FFA and Vic Police would prefer a sanitised polite but colourless AFL type of joyless support from fans, if this is the case I’ll just watch the games from home.
