So in our second last game of this miserable shit of a season we head to Adelaide to take on United. These guys are a decent side, but that hasn't stopped us from drawing with them twice already this season. This is an away game so I can't see anything more than yet another demoralising 2-1 loss after we take the lead through anyone but Williams before giving the game away.

JvS has to field his strongest side (as he does for the final match of the season against WSW), because the result can affect the final order of the top six placings.

IMO it's also very important that we keep trying right to the final whistle of our season. Enough credibility has been lost already and we don't want to finish by giving the supporters the feeling that the players don't give a shit about the last two games.

Redmayne back in goal, Behich LB, Garuccio LW would be three changes I would make.

To be honest don't give a shit about possible line-ups and tactics for this match. Just can't wait to get over their to have a few beers and catch up with the boys. It's gonna be a big one. Maybe just maybe we could fluke 3 points.

Add a Yianni's Yiros and you've nailed my thoughts on the game!

No to redders. What do we lose in having tando in goal instead? There as good as each other, so i see no need to put redders back in goal.

It's tando time

I don't know about others but it absolutely shits me to hear JvS and our players repeatedly saying how good the other sides are, that we have taken some positives out of the game and we're learning from them and working on them and hopefully things will improve and... blah blah blah.

Absolutely leaves me cold and does nothing to convince me that we are anything but riddled with negative thoughts and lack of confidence.

Sometimes I feel that the most important thing for our new owners to do is to change the thought processes at our club, and I almost don't care who or what they change as long as they achieve that.

Agree. I think it's ok to every once in a while talk up the opponent and give them some acknowledgement, but it feels like Heart does that almost every round, and are always attempting to 'learn' from games that got away.

Also, and whilst this is a term that's ok to use rarely (especially if the team's been on a bad run), I hate the term 'good result' (which can mean either draw or win). Especially at the end of the season, with everyone fit (bar Kewell), playing a team that's 4th in Adelaide and a team that Heart hasn't lost to this season (3-3 draw, and 2-2 draw),  the team should say they are playing to win, and not this 'good result' BS. This is just the A-League, so why talk yourselves down (and also not talk yourselves up/identify your strengths) before the match has started? On hearing this interview, my immediate reaction was 'this is loser talk' (again) from Heart).

Thankfully this talk will almost certainly be not allowed next season, as the team will almost certainly expect they can win every match, and the team will have to justify when it doesn't win matches. What a refreshing change that'll be.

Really over this season to be honest.

Would be good to finish off the bottom of the ladder, but that would just be slight consolation really if it happened.

I must say that given the positions of each team, and that AU have more to play for, I would say this will likely be 3-1 to them.

4-3 to us.

We have nothing to play for. They do.

Our guys might want contracts. They are all signed up.

They have won only once in the last 5 games against us at home.

Contracts or no contracts. Just be like Patrick G, go Merrywell at Crown Casino and pick up one of the hottest chicks. Giddy up!

2 daughters, 1 married - the other is engaged... would smash both.

A few doors down is a new club also 'tweety bird' from memory (or some shit name like that).

EDIT: it's named Bye Bye Birdie. Cafe/Bar/Disco.

OE MM SM or JG

PR to miss out unless any late injuries.

Assuming SM is Mauk and not Mitchinson, I like this.

Using surnames would avoid any possibility of confusion and is why 99.99% of people writing players names do so.

You'd think so, but I always got excited for those games because we had something to play for. Either breaking the winless streak or a vain attempt at finals. This week is just nothing.

This week is an away challenge. Can we win more than one away game in a season?

Having said that though I was not impressed by the energy of JVS in the interview he gave and I'm not sure he has the right frame of mind for this game. Hopefully he was just tired but there was a lack of intensity and desire in his vibe. I hope the players don't reflect the same energy or this could be a 4 - 0 thumping.

Avoid wooden spoon

Good point, surprisingly, something that we haven't gotten in our short history aha.

Yeah, in line with comments I posted earlier, I do wish he would cheer up a bit - he usually looks so mournful he gives me the impression he's just left a funeral parlour.

IMO these last two matches have a lot more meaning than just position on the table. I think they're about the credibility of the club going forward - has there actually been a change in attitudes or was the little revival just a dead cat bounce?
