  1. This forum is fucked! A loss and the sky is falling in, and 4 wins in a row we are world beaters. It's always going to be somewhere in the middle.

  2. Didn't think Joyce did much wrong last night tbh. His starting 11 was an eleven that has been good all season and proven to be effective, including last time out against these guys. We were atleast on par with them in the first half aside from two LaRocca stuff ups. At halftime he changed everything up, something our previous managers wouldn't have done (I believe Aloisi submits his substitutions before the game) and we dominated the next 20 minutes until yet another stuff up cost us a goal and all momentum. After that there was little he could do, but he still tried to be more attacking and iuse what options he did have left on the bench. The big test is this week. The players and formation no longer have earnt their spots, so now we see if he looks to have another plan and an ability to execute it.

  3. Both sets of groups are probably on equal terms for dickhead level tbh

  4. Agree about some of the reactions to the game. There's a reason those stats exist, we weren't anywhere near being a championship winning side at the time. I guess the idea is not to take those past trends/stats as expected future outcomes but to buck them to show that we are a championship winning side.

  5. Inconsistent? La Rocca and Galekovic have had 5 superb games in a row and I would argue the main catalyst for our wins. Yes last night was an abortion and inexcusable but both have been very consistent.

  6. Of course its 1 point out of a possible 9 but its also 13 points from a possible 21. I understand patterns and results sometimes don't actually reflect true quality ( or lack off) but for me last night was a just one of those games were errors just killed us. I'm not thinking wholesale changes are needed.

  7. Totally agree. Your never going to win a game when you gift 3 goals. Galekovic and La Rocca are both to blame but in our previous games they are the major reasons for our wins. So for me I would play them both next week and give them the opportunity to redeem themselves and if they fuck up again axe both of them.

  8. Get around it fellas, let's sell out our whole end for this- with the Tards dead last, there has never been a derby I've been more confident of winning (I'm aware a lot can change between now and then but off what we've seen so far we should be confident)! Ticket sales looking good, Victory have already sold half their end and a lot of the unreserved bays are selling quick. Big chance to smash them on and off the pitch in this one.

  9. The outcome last night has been doing my head in all day. How did La Rocca and Galek have such stinkers when they have been part of a pretty rock solid defensive structure. It seemed from the opening minutes that La Rocca was shaky and it only got worse. That Kamau had a poor one, that he has the body strength of a lab rat doesn't surprise me. Our main problem up to last night was failing to put a really decent score on the board in a convincing manner. Still need to work on that. The one good aspect last night was that Wazza wasn't going to wait to the 60min mark to make changes but he wielded the axe at half time and it did make a difference. The trouble was that the third conceded goal was the killer punch and that was that. So over the coming week Wazza will be looking closely at La Rocca and Galek in training to gauge whether the shit performance was a blip or there is something more to worry about. I don't think he's going to jump to conclusions in the heat of the moment. A worry is the Cahill issue and McCormack if some of the rumours are correct. On Timmy, http://www.theage.com.au/sport/soccer/melbourne-city/tim-cahill-warren-joyce-and-city-set-for-clear-the-air-talks-on-socceroos-future-20171118-gzo2k6.html Opening two paras: "Melbourne City coach Warren Joyce and unsettled Socceroo Tim Cahill met on Saturday as the latter's demands over first team action threaten to cloud what has been a solid start to the season for City. But it is unlikely that the club will bow to any demands for a guarantee of a starting position even though the striker is likely to be an important member of the World Cup squad should Ange Postecoglou remain in charge for the tournament in Russia."

  10. One of the themes that this forum has is that every season we start well and then fade, come back and dribble on. And you are right to say one bad game does not mean that the season is shot - especially with a new manager at the helm because if JVS was still here I would have known the rest of the script. What I did say that any team can have a player that has a bad game, happens all the time however we had three. What I am questioning is why did this happen? It could be plain coincidence but if over the next three weeks we see the old pattern establish itself then I don't think that it is an unfair question, although it could be argued that I am jumping the gun.

  11. They both have one bad game and you call them inconsistent? LA Rocca is the reason our defending has been so solid.

  12. We're you saying this when we had conceded 3 goals in 6 weeks? Larocca has been fantastic before last night

  13. If following the A League has taught me anything, it’s that blokes over 30 don’t miss “2 week’s” for a calf injury. Out for a Germano I’d say.

  14. Not too impressed with Tims comments, especially off the back of that loss last night. I don't know if his comments were made due to being on the back of an emotional finish to the game but I'd hope he feels bad for putting himself before the team and club.

  15. 1. We shouldn't start to drop half our team because of one bad game 2. A lot of the players being mentioned here aren't even responsible directly for the loss tonight 3. Malik should retain his spot for the next game. 4. Without ruling them out of contention La Rocca and Galekovic need to prove this week at training they deserve to be selected for next week. 5. Wazza chose the right players and made the right substitutions. 6. We have to win against Perth. No ifs or buts.

  16. The problem is that we never score enough goals to get momentum. Yes, we create lots of chances but you get no points for chances. How many of our shots on goal have this season gone straight to the keeper? We lose momentum so easily.

  17. I think the best thing to come out of that game is that now Joyce may pick the best side, rather than “the team that is winning”. Honestly I’ll struggle to front up for games if we continue to field a team of defenders and play counterattacking crap like we did that first half. Pretty much unwatchable.

  18. 100% what you've said. Hardly wazza fault that the rock and galekovic wanted to lose this one. He made changes when he needed to and before Eugenes second brain fart we had the ascendency.

  19. A World Cup game against England. Oh boy. If, by some chance we beat them, I would spend the following week hitting F5 on the British tabloid websites.

  20. you have to go with a young guy who has shown that he has "got it" , has made runs before and has a good 10 years playing ahead of him, to bring back a 35 year old who has failed many times and injured himself is ludicrous

  22. Valkanis makes me sick. Munn is a pussy Bouzanis is shit Malik and Muscat make too many errors Kamau is woeful and dumb with the ball. But I agree, none of the above will happen.

  23. Agree with you. If Eugene and La Rooca didn’t both have brain farts we would of at least gotten a draw

  27. What's worse than swearing is the fact that active spend over half the match chanting about the opposite team. Last 2 home games have been like this. When the opposition score, how about trying to pump our boys up with one of our chants, not singing about how shit the other team is. Especially when they are beating us u gimps.
