German Ferreyra

Recommended Posts

The positive is that at least he has been playing pretty regularly, over 80 games in last 4 seasons, and we have seen that random south Americans with no CV can come here and star eg Gui Finkler and Mikael Doka.

The negatives are the obvious, who the hell is this guy and is the Russian 2nd div going to stack up here.

Hopeful he can be something, but that's all we have at the moment

Seems to be a versatile depth option which is always good to have, can play 3 positions.

3 visa slots left now so hoping for some more guaranteed starters from them.

I don't resile from the view that visa players should be starters, not signed to "provide depth."

Given his history, weren't there any locals capable of doing the job?

A very good question. Does he have what Politidis lacks? We've just seen Galloway move on, I'm sure not least in part because we signed Fernandez on loan, whereas I couldn't see that Galloway was second-best in any respect whatsoever.

Galloway plays on the right and Fernandez played on the left. When Behich departed (who had replaced Bos) they tried playing Galloway on the left which was not working and then he got injured. My thoughts are that Galloway left because no matter how bad Talbot played, Talbot was not going to be benched.

What we really need is a specialised DM that can offer what O'Neill gave us. I'm not6 sure how a utility defender adds to the team

Maybe he is more our RB?

It's unclear where he will play, how we will use him, or how he fits into the team plan.

Hopefully put warranted pressure on Talbot at RB given how frustrating he was last season! Besides that he may fight for a CB position or maybe even DM.

You are right in the fact it seems an odd acquisition...
