  1. No, it's nothing like being married, you get screwed regularly when you are supporting City

  2. Just like being married. You get the occasional moment of glory but mostly its just battling through the hard yards.

  3. Long ago in a land far away, I learned as a callow youth watching English Division 3 that it's mostly about stoical suffering, not winning. Triumph of blind hope over bitter experience.

  5. Unchanged for me. 1 basic principle that gets overlooked far too often. Never ever change a winning team unless injury or suspension. So although Jakobsen at LB isn't ideal he stays. Budzinski may be heaps better than Mauk but Mauk has to start. La Rocca and Muscat are probably lesser players in reworked back four they still deserve to start. And Malik after his game must keep out Kilkenny. To build a competitive squad based on core values the fundamental of keeping a winning team must be done. Later on, as the squad matures and develops then tactical changes or tweaks can be considered but in a round 2 match in the first season of a new coach for me anything but an unchanged lineup doesn't make sense.

  6. I don't think it's the fact that he's playing a back 3 that is the major issue, it's playing players out of position to fit into his 3-4-3 that is the issue and the continual changing of players without allowing them to get comfortable in the system that is making him a target of criticism. The wing back positions are the perfect example, we've gone with Smith, Gersbach, Behich and back to Smith, with Smith having easily been the worst of the lot. On the other side he's chopped and changed with Degenek, Leckie, Kruse, McGowan and Risdon all having played on the right. Center back is the same with Sainsbury, Wright, Degenek, McGowan, Milligan, Spiranovic and Jurman all having been in and out of the side and haven't had the opportunity to build the understanding required to play a back 3 succesfully. A majority of the current squad play their club football at clubs playing a 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 and a number are in career best form yet Ange is content with sticking to a formation that has produced a solitary decent performance (v Chile) and we're now heading into a World Cup year and the coach doesn't have the slightest clue as to what his best XI is, the only shoe-in's seem to be Ryan, Sainsbury, Leckie and Milligan. That's deserving of criticism.

  7. From last week squad Muscat and Crowley out, cahill and kilkenny in Bart goes across to RB, Jamieson starts at LB. Jakobsen and LaRocca at CB, really comfortable with that back 4, especially CB pairing, both take no shit Apart from that, same as last week. Kilkenny unlucky to be on bench but Malik was outstanding

  9. I'd say Chile not qualifying is the biggest surprise honestly, they've won the last two Copa Americas, finished runner-up at the Confederations Cup and still have a squad stacked with stars.

  10. I'm surprised that there's so much surprise about a Hollywood producer and sexual harassment claims by actresses/wannabe actresses etc. When I was a lad pretty much everyone joked about actresses auditioning for a part via the "casting couch." It's nothing new, nor surprising IMO. Show biz is like that. I'm just getting rather tired of all this "outrage" about the sexploitation of women, when said women deliberately trade on their looks, spend a fortune on cosmetics and plastic surgery, spend a hell a lot of time endeavouring to make themselves "attractive" (to whom?), and deliberately wear as little as possible and expose as much flesh as they can at every possible opportunity.

  11. And then post match he talks about focusing on the big derby at the weekend. Whether he plays or not, or for how long, he's an asset to have in the dressing room.

  12. Yeah I forgot about the Caltex Socceroos. I actually don't mind a front of shirt sponsor, something like Etihad like we have is something simple. But then you have sponsors like what the visitors have and it looks rubbish

  13. Which is reasonable. All ill say though is that Jako to LB last week was a deliberate ploy by Joyce to stop Skapetis at RW and he was quite quick too. If your full backs are more defensive than attacking, perhaps pace isnt such an issue... I'm fully on the unchanged train. I think Jovan nails it in his last sentence; set the foundations for a perform and get rewarded culture now and we'll reap the benefits as the season goes on.

  18. Pair him up with this inform as well for an a-league squad build, both somewhat affordable with a combined cost of 26k, it does get a bit moisty in here

  19. Even at 9400 im staggered at how well we are doing tbh after last years abortion of a season. I still thought we'd be around normal, but not as strong as last year which was a clear outlier. Pretty good testament to how many of us are rusted on masochists i guess

  24. I thought the term "Walkerists" was originally coined to refer to those who wanted Zac Walker to be given a shot at A-League football, not a reference to Jeremy Walker.

  27. Problem with the crowds nowadays is that they are a direct response to the ludicrous price of tickets. I’m not going purely because of the price. Secondary issue is that Etihad is the shittest stadium to watch a game of football in.
