I'm not going, I hate Eithad stadium

doesn't matter where you sit, you seem to be far away

I'll watch at the local pub

But dont you get a rush out of leaving the ground getting heckled by 16 year old tards?!

well, you might twist my arm there.... nothing like a bit of friendly wordplay and banter with some juveniles

Anyone know what has happened to Germano? Haven't heard he is injured again.

Has been cremated and ashes will be sprinkled on the grounds of the new training facility as part of opening ceremony ;)

In all seriousness, Germano's status is a worry. He is either injured again, or wasn't deemed worthy of a spot in the squad on Sunday. Whichever one of those is correct, it's a concern either way.

Because if he's injured again, he lasted about one and a half games before breaking down and has had more than a month to get his body right. And if he's fit, but didn't make the squad, he's lingered around for a long time, for a player that isn't able to even make the bench of our middle-of-the-road A-League team. And even more so, considering he's a visa.

What's worrying is that we've almost run out if time to move him on. If nothing is done before the window closes he's with us for the rest of the season. Fit he can play a role and is worthy of a spot but I've given up on him. I may be wrong but id be surprised he sees any more game time at City ever.

Not long enough...I hope. The guy simply does not have the physical attributes to be a professional footballer, whatever his nationality. That's not my real concern at this juncture, because he's got only half a season to go on his present contract. My concern is that based on some of our previous signings and re-signings, the club might be dumb enough to keep him on for another season.

We are not sixth on the table because the world's against us. We're there at least in part because of some very dumb decisions taken. If you boil it right down you'll see that week after week it's basically the same 6-7 players who are carrying the whole club.

Fully agree.

And as far as I can see, it's all the new players carrying the load. Our brand new midfield of Mooy, Melling and Paartalu is light years ahead of what older midfielders of this club could offer. Koren actually gives the team a goal threat up front (he was unlucky not to score against WSW), while Duff's regularly creating goal scoring chances (which the old guard like Ramsay and Williams butcher). And the team is undefeated when Connor Chapman has played, with the team winning 4 out of the 5 games he's played in (and drawing the other), whilst the defence has only conceded 4 goals over the 5 games he was in the defence (and 2 of those goals were late consolation goals in the 5-2 thumping of Newcastle).

Meanwhile, the 4 old players that remain in the team are Redmayne, Ramsay, Hoffman and Kisnorbo. The first 2 there's no debate about: they are disappointing liabilities who have been at the club too long on the promise that they'll get better. Whilst the latter 2 are middling players, who can maybe do a job in a good team, but don't provide any real quality or consistency.

I'm pretty confident though that the old guard of players like Ramsay are quickly running out of time at the club, and will probably take up no positions in next season's starting XI. And I'm pretty sure that in the derby and in the remaining half of the season that the new players will continue to prove why they deserve to get all the game time in place of the old players.

FFS if he wasn't deemed worthy of a spot and Ramsay was I would be asking serious questions of JVS!!

Melbourne derby: Victory to be wary of City’s set-piece specialists

MATT WINDLEY

FEBRUARY 04, 2015

MELBOURNE Victory will need to be on high alert for a Melbourne City aerial assault when the two teams clash at Etihad Stadium in Saturday night’s derby.

City’s three goals against its cross-town rivals this season, including Erik Paartalu’s dramatic late winner just before Christmas, have all been a result of set pieces.

Rob Wielaert scored the opener in the first derby at Docklands when he was left unmarked at the back post and volleyed home an Aaron Mooy free kick, while fellow defender Jason Hoffman scored the second, heading home another Mooy cross after a well-worked short corner.

Mate Dugandzic’s late corner in the pre-Christmas derby at AAMI Park came to nothing at first, but he was given the chance to whip in a repeat cross after Patrick Kisnorbo flicked the ball back out to him, and second time around he found the head of Paartalu.

Victory has conceded five headed goals this season — only City, with six, has conceded more — while only Newcastle, with four, has conceded more goals than Victory has from corners (three).

Kevin Muscat’s men have only let in the one goal from a free kick, but given it averages an A-League-high 17.6 fouls per game City is likely to get a look-in on Saturday night.

And it is Paartalu and Mooy that Victory’s defence needs to be most wary of at set piece time.

Paartalu has had 11 headed shots this season for three goals, the most in the league.

Mooy has had 98 cross attempts for the season (ranked No.1) and 64 passes in to the penalty box from set pieces (ranked No.2), although Irishman Damien Duff is another to be wary of as with 23 completed crosses from 78 attempts, he has a higher accuracy rate than Mooy given the 24-year-old has successfully completed only 25 of his crosses.

Overall, City has scored eight goals from headers, the most in the league, and is equal top with Perth on five goals when it comes to scoring from corners.

I personally can't see why people opt out of this match. Sure Etihad mightn't be the best stadium for watching the soccer but the atmosphere is fantastic. Being heavily outnumbered gives the sense of an interstate match but with all your mates beside you. Really can't wait pumped for this one. Will be drinking nice and early.

Mate, I couldn't disagree more.

Missed out on active tickets last time (and this time) which means GA on level 3. Fucking awful atmosphere.

Surrounded by mongs and even worse was the Manchester City bandwagoners singing over the top of Heart chants and generally being fuckwits. Left early to go and watch Manchester in the EPL too.

All of this and the chance to see your team get anally raped 5-2 for the bargain price of $80!!! For that kind of money I could by a huge rubber fist and fuck myself up the ass. It would be cheaper, probably more enjoyable and I wouldn't be giving my hard earned money to the mongs.

Am feeling reasonably optimistic about this one. Hoping we don't do too much yapping in the press in the lead up (a la berisha) and save it for the pitch.

The filth have been vulnerable in midfield when milligan has missed and still have liabilities in coe, leijer & their full backs. And given all three derby goals they've shipped have come from aerial balls into the box, a 20 minute JK cameo may be the difference.

I will be in GA on level 3. Look forward to pulling out all the Heart chants with you. Ban the bandwagoners.

I reckon Germano's been given the bad news...looking forward to the Jeronimo Neumann announcement!  ;)

We need to spread those who would be in active to the GA areas above us to mention bring along those who couldnt get active tickets to sit also in the GA areas above us.

you guys want the Man City lot to go away, than do what I say, bring your friends, some of the active people to go up to Level 3 and start chanting with whats happening below, we need the noise from above as well considering we're outnumbered in an away game.
