I'm not sure what the issue is. Has been a great player with a good pre-season will be a great player for us this year. Stop the hate and move on imo. I'd say a few bucks on him to win club b and f wouldn't be misplaced. Has a heap more quality than anyone on our list......EVER.

Kewell closing in on quick Heart debut
By Guy Hand

The day after his two former clubs clash at the MCG in front of a sellout 90,000 crowd, Harry Kewell is set to make a far lower-key Melbourne Heart debut in regional Victoria.

Kewell is on track to play in the Heart's first pre-season friendly in Shepparton on July 25 against a Goulburn North-East All-Stars side.

While coach John Aloisi will have the final say, noises from the club suggest Kewell is almost certain to play.

The 34-year-old has impressed all at Heart with his efforts at training in his two weeks at the club, and also needs match practice after playing just three games in the past year.

Kewell admits the early pre-season training has been tough as the Heart build up to an A-League opener against his former club Melbourne Victory on October 12.

"It's tough, they've really put me through my paces," Kewell told the Heart's web site on Wednesday.

"Of course I'm looking forward to (the season), especially the first game.

"The team's all excited about it, but we do have to conserve our energy because there's a long way to go. It's a big pre-season."

Should Kewell play at Shepparton's McEwen Reserve, it will be just 24 hours after Victory's match against another of Kewell's former clubs, English giants Liverpool.

The Socceroo said he was enjoying life at his new club, believing the rejigged Heart can perform well this season.

Kewell, Dutch centre-back Rob Wielaert, former Adelaide United winger Iain Ramsay and ex-Roar midfielder Massimo Murdocca head the club's new signings.

"I'm enjoying it. There is a good strong core here and the players have welcomed me with open arms and it's exciting to be here at the moment because Melbourne Heart are building something," Kewell said.

Aloisi and assistant coach Hayden Foxe are currently in England undertaking a UEFA coaching course, and will return next week when a decision will be made on playing Kewell in Shepparton.

I think everyone wants harry to stop with the charade and come out and say he's really a cunt, he doesn't like melbourne heart and is using it purely as a stepping stone to the World Cup. He has no feeling to the club, to the board or the supporters and doing everything for his selfish purposes.

Common sense people, use it...the guys doing the right thing and saying the right things and until he doesn't let's make the most of the situation.

Harry wouldn't do that to us, he loves us and the club.

I don't really care whether he's playing for the club or not or if he's just going to play for the sake of the WC. All that will matter are going to be his performances and contribution to getting results. Cos without them, he won't have a chance of making it to Brazil.

TBH I don't care what his intentions are. People are saying he is using us, but tbh we are using him just as much.

This is professional sport.  Which makes it 99% about the money.  Except for Kewell its not about the money but a World Cup squad place.  The guy just wants to play football  at a World Cup one last time.  And we stand to gain from his desire to play at the World Cup, for nothing!  Where is the downside?

There is none, people like to complain.

If he was our marquee, then I'd be skeptical but the bloke's getting paid peanuts, we can't lose!

Exactly! And if he turns out to be playing like shit we bench him. He is on minimum wage for Christ sake, its not like we rearranged our entire club and sunk a shit load of cash into him... unlike another club I can think of.
