Jimmy
A good post by Tbitm over on 442 optimistically predicting an average gate of 11,500 for us this season: Heart have 2 home derbies that should get 27k each, 2 sfc games which could be ADPvHK which i think will draw a crowd of about 13k to each. Then as long as we don't have a ridiculously shit season we'll just need to get 7.7k for the rest of our matches which again seems likely There's definitely a lot more of a buzz around the club this season with some great signings and a great fixture. If we have a really good season on the park and finish Top 3 I can definitely see the crowds soaring. Hopefully InMyHeart's internationally renowned striker materializes and we'll be all set for what could be our club's defining season.
Deluka
8,734 was it? If the first post is up to date, which it looks to be, that's our 4th highest non-derby crowd. Hoping we can beat that when WSW visit and smash it when del piero comes to town the following friday night. Our next two games are friday nights and we'll see how much that influences our attendances

Friday nights are a lot easier for fans to get to games as well I would have thought, plus the exposure to the wider public can only be beneficial, PROVIDING we play well. Was indeed our fourth largest ever crowd and second biggest ever if you disclude our first ever match and the ADP show. Shahanga
Good figure today to use as a starting point. Indeed. No one would have complained if a few more were present, but it was a good start. At half time i was worried though- a second half of a "tactical dual" and we'd scare off at least 1500. I could not attend or the mate i attend with as we both have bowls, so that counts out 2 people plus friends ect 530 saturdays is the worst time possible imo due to cricket ect and bowls for older spectators was not possible for me to get to the game Edited October 20, 2013 by Mentor

This is a good figure as i think 530 saturday limits alot of peoples ability to get to games, fridays or even saturdays at 730 are better for me to get to, or any time sunday, saturday before 730 means that people who play sport just cant make it. I would hope this is an average or low figure for the year going on my own experience
sharpy
The fact it clashed with the Caulfield Cup didn't help either! xXJawsaXx
There was a lot going on on that day including Armageddon (Which I went to before making my way to the game), so that could have impacted the attendance. 5:30 is also a terrible kick-off time. It will be interesting to see the crowd against West Sydney. It should be 9-10k if we win our next two games I think.

Have to admit our crowd was a lot poorer than expected! They should have had the VPL game on afterwards as people from the VPL would have left soon after the game. I really hope we can get an average of at least 10k outside of the derby games. A combination of Kewell playing consistently, Misfud back, Engelaars return (still a while off) and simple winning this should be achievable. Lot more games to go but was pretty dissapointed in our numbers. In saying that had a ripper time in the Yarraside for the first time and bought along my 2 brothers and a mate, one is already signed up and the other 2 said they will this week because they loved it so much. Bring on a 11k plus crowd against WSW

jw1739
IMO people are ignoring some fairly obvious points. Last season we had beaten MV at Docklands, were playing a greatly-weakened Phoenix side and were expected to win handsomely, and had the VPL final after our match and there was therefore some additional counting there. This year we drew the first game, were playing CCM who most pundits expected to win, and the VPL final was before our game. Most importantly we had had made it pretty obvious that we are going to play defensive football this season. It remains to be seen whether that is going to bring us good results. In the meantime I don't think you should expect to see too many people to roll up. The faithful will keep coming but not the walk-ups. They'll wait to see the proof of the pudding first.
Heart_fan
The crowd on Sat was decent. I actually thought it was higher than the 8.7K, given there were far more people down the wings (due to extra general admin bays this year), and still solid down the ends. I agree that the VPL match brought very few into the ground really. Many that were there at that time were either wearing MH tops, or just filling in time before the HAL match. The only real pockets of support were on the Western side with some supporter groups and some on the Eastern side in one section. The rest of the venue was empty. Another thing, looking around on the weekend, I'm happy to see the supporter cross-section that the club has. There are older and younger fans, from many backgrounds, which is great to see. The most frustrating point of all was a guy behind me who spent all the first half talking to his friend about his work and how good he was, then went into a spiel of feeling sorry for MH and how MV were the better team.. Ummm why bother coming?? Even the friend didn't get a chance to get a word in

Nate
I know it's very early days with only one home game and we're yet to have our two home derbies to bump up the average but I just found these stats pretty interesting, a lot of the other clubs have improved their attendances already whilst we're languishing at the bottom by a fair margin with Wellington.
