  1. Ok I don't know why I bother sometimes but anyway: No one discussed banning swearing, in fact it was specifically said that there shouldn't be 'rules' one way or the other on this. What was discussed was discouraging 'distasteful' chants like rape jokes or violence. "Would smash the physio" comes to mind. Cunt is a beautiful part of the female anatomy and is a-okay by me For me personally the Archie chant is fine because it appropriately calls him out on the disgusting behaviour that got swept under the rug. What gets frustrating is when this is the ONLY chant that is sung with any real passion, because then it seems like we're obsessed with some dickhead opposition player who isn't even any good any more. There is a big difference between singing "come on you boys in red", referring to the PLAYERS who are obviously all male, and singing "We are the boys from Yarraside" which is describing the make-up of the terrace and the people singing. Obvious troll is obvious but there were far more than two girls in Yarraside and none of the ones I spoke to had been 'dragged there' by their boyfriends (although many of us did meet our boyfriends at the football. Common interests and all that). So it would be nice to acknowledge their presence and increase the potential for more to feel like the terrace is not just a place for the 'lads'. Growing the active support base is the ostensible goal, is it not? Expanding beyond the 16-30 year-old male demographic would be an easy way to start. Anyway. It was a great meeting. Really positive. Big kudos to King Malta, Jimmy, Tony and the others for getting this up and running. I have every confidence you guys are going to succeed and make this new terrace truly great. If it were possible to love a terrace without needing to love its club, I would be 100% on board already. As it is, still not quite reconciled with the 'City difference'. Rolled over my active membership anyway, but every time I think about singing for a team called City that plays in blue I still feel a little sick. I'm just hoping I feel better about it all by the time the season rolls around.

  2. Notch it up one more member. I decided that it was time that I showed some solidarity with you guys so I bought an international membership. I have a zero percent chance of making it to any games this season (maybe in future seasons, but give it a few years) but it felt like the right thing to do.

  4. Out. Archie Thompson beats up his wife will continue. Out. Archie Thompson beats up his wife will continue. This is disgusting. You don't want to offend people by having words like 'red', 'white', 'blue', 'City' or 'heart' in the name but you'll trivialise violence against women? It's not funny, or clever and if you've ever engaged with someone who's had to deal with that crap you'd not suggest it. It is shaming Archie and not letting him bury his past indiscretions for which he received no punishment. I don't mind what you say about Archie but if you're bringing his wife into it, that's another matter. Of her I'm sure it's bringing up bad memories. And no you can't stop people singing/chanting whatever but you can lead on the acceptable behaviours in the terrace. The silence of the core on this would speak volumes. If Emily Thompson wants to hang about, watching re-runs of the oceanic world cup qualifiers and taking beatings from Archie on the regular, thats her business. Our business will be to remind that rabid, oxygen thieving, mong dogcunt, Thompson that he is in fact a cunt.

  8. I'm a completely new member, and although a casual fan of the Heart for the past few years, I don't have the same level of connection to the Heart name and colours as many others on the forum understandably do. Just a few things that have encouraged me to signup this season: The new ownership group and connection to Man City - I completely understand the viewpoint from many that may not feel the same way, but I think this is really exciting for the football club and the A-league in general. Initial signings - David Villa and Damien Duff, plus the International Marquee and Australian Marquee still to come. From a personal standpoint I recently moved within walking distance to AAMI Park, so will be able to get to a lot more home games. Agree that the real injection of new supporters/members will come when there is more advertising through traditional media. Perhaps this will happen once one or both of the marquee signings have been sorted.

  9. Perfect I'll post 1 up in a sec!!! I'm guessing this will occur between 2am and 4am in the morning? Will they be tailored to our group so that no other group can use them?

We'll always have HEART We'll always have HEAAAAAAARTT MELBOURNE CITY WILL always have HEART..... Repeat Repeat Repeat thoughts...?

  19. Imagine that, having a substitute striker on the bench instead of 3 centre mids and a centre back. Was absolutely criminal that we spent a large chunk of the season without a striker on the bench.

  23. City Guard best so far IMO. I'm shit at photoshop and all that, but incorporating a spartan helmet or someshit into a logo would look pretty cool. Something like this: edit: crappy mock up for City Guard:

  24. I'm sure there's a hundred reasons why we can't get him but cbf reading the thread: Cahill. Throw everything at him. Would be a phenomenal signing alongside Villa, Duff and the yet to be named Marquee not to mention the crowd boost after he elevated to legend status this WC

  36. And bring on a coach who can win a Grand Final... Got a feeling you're gonna eat those words late September this year. I haven't in the four other Grand Finals he has coached in... I would much prefer to have the coaches that the other three flag chances have in their boxes come Grand Final day. Don't think he's particularly been out coached on any of those 4 occasions, could also argue he's had a worst list then his opposition on those days, just feel like these things have a way of evening themselves out over time. That being said though if he fails again in the big one this year I'll be happy to say he's a choker. Well the three Grand Finals he could not win with St Kilda he had a side with more Number One Draft Picks in it than any other so its hard to argue he did not have the cattle... And in the past twenty five years I can only think of about three or four grand finals where the better side lost. And for the record Geelong were not the best side in 89, 92, 94 or 95 (Mind you we didnt cheat the cap) - We were in 2008. I was referring to Ross Lyon being the best coach in the AFL even though he doesn't have a Premiership, ala God being the best player in the AFL even though he never won a Premiership, I'll pay the 2010 Grand Final(s) being a bit of a choke, but 09 Geelong had a better list than St.Kilda & last year Hawks had a better list than Freo IMO. Agreed - Geelong did have a better list than St Kilda in 2009... mind you never should have been the case considering Geelong is the only club to never finish below 12th and the only time we have ever had a Number 1 draft pick we wasted it a complete dud in the early 90's. As for Ablett - He was the key reason he never won a flag because Geelong bent our team rules for his bad walkabout attitude and he made our fowardline far too easy to play on in Grand Finals. After the 1989 GF all opposition coaches realised that they needed to double team in any future grand finals. TBH St Kilda's not being able to win a flag when they were strong was probably due to pretty similar reasons... Player culture at the Saints was never what it was at Geelong from 2007-2011 or at Collingwood from 2010-2011 or Hawthorn from 2008 - Hopefully soon. Plus the Saints were also far to reliant on one man in their fowardline for a side in the late 2000's. Both of these problems were never solved by Ross Lyon. Of course I will pay you that Hawthorn had a better team than Freo last Season but most agree that Clarko also won the battle in the boxes in a pretty convincing manner that day... and bare in mind that I say this as someone who was very keen for Freo to win that day as I spent my later school years in East Fremantle attending Freo games every second weekend.
