spiranovic
if the club has no other intentions than to appoint AM or JA as the coach then just get it over and done with and announce it already! let's be honest, this competition isn't THAT difficult to do well in. Perth came 10th last season and a year later, after some decent recruiting in the off season, they're sitting 3rd, qualified for the ACL next season, and would not surprise people if they made the grand final. Is perth a much better team than us? NO. The difference is they have a couple of key players who can finish off games. We probably have some of the best 'outside' players in the league. What i mean by 'outside' players is the wingers, wing-backs and just generally players who play on the fringe of the game. What we lack is key quality players down the 'spine' of our team who will make us a championship winning side. It's very noticeable because almost all of the goals we score, have been created from wide positions where as i can count the number of times we have scored through the middle on one hand. It is also obvious that the majority of our goals conceded have come straight through the middle. There's no doubt that we are good at exposing teams from the wings with our pacey players, but it makes us very predictable, and when we are forced to play through the middle we don't seem strong enough to really hurt teams. Already 7 players have been released, Bolton expected to retire as well as rumours of Colosimo leaving. It definitely gives us a very handy amount of space in the salary cap to work with, as well as a decent amount of places in the squad to fill. I would HATE to think the club is going to go out and sign 8 wingers to fill the spots, when really only 4-5 spots need to be filled to make us a top side. Criticise this all you like, but i have no doubt it will win us the double; Signing 1: Covic (off contract, experienced keeper, arguably best in the league, will replace bolton) Signing 2: Madaschi (best CB we've had at the club, exactly what we need, will replace colosimo) Signing 3 :Hernandez (off contract, one of the best imports, tremendous skill/delivery/vision, dead ball specialist, true number 10) Signing 4: Charisteas (off contract, experienced strikers, very talented, would also increase interest/crowds) Signing 5: Ali Abbas (off contract, left sided winger, very good left foot, pacey left sided winger which we lack, would hopefully replace williams) Starting 11 ------------------Covic---------------------- Marrone--Hamill-----Madaschi----Behich -------------------Srhoj----------------------- Dugandzic-----Hernandez----------Fred--- ------------Charisteas-------Babalj---------- Bench: Redmayne, Abbas, Germano, Thompson/Zahra sorry but no team with srhoj will ever win a league
LR9
That's why he has a league title with Olympic and Glory...? It's Easter Holidays, can you cunts all just relax! The club just played in a final 6 days ago. An anouncement will be made next week or early the week after. And for whoever said Williams was our 1st signing, he was actually one of our late signings, in June, 4 months after Good and Dugandzic. Guess that kills your theory in the arse... samardzija
Do they let guide dogs into AAMi park?? The guy's a hack. Terrible terrible defender. I would have sacked him after he's little hissy fit when he kicked the ball out. And his indiscretions in the box cost us points. Get rid of him Yeah lets go into the next season with two teenage centre backs who havent proved they can play next to each other at all in a back 4. I'm not saying Colosimo is crucial to any success but there is no way in hell he should be given the ass, i don't know about you but i was shit scared when Hamill and Good lined up against Perth in the finals. Colosimo has been there and done that and is a very handy player to have around the club, that being said we shouldnt move heaven and earth to keep him, or try and flog him off with a year left on his contract. The real key is to sign a first XI centre back during the off season, whether the new signing has Colosimo next to him or not, depends on his ability, communication and experience. moops
As much as I like that line up, I realy do not see it happening, this is what I predict, assuming we do not sign some amazing international and are able to get Madaschi. --------------------------------Redmayne-------------------------------------- Marrone----------Good--------------------Madaschi-----Craig Goodwin -----------------------------------Hamill------------------------------------------ ---------------------Germano---------------Fred------------------------------- Dugandzic--------------------------------------------------------------Behich -----------------------------------Babailj----------------------------------------- Subs: Walker,?, ?, ?. Would be happy if this happened, could speculate on the other subs and probly have preference to youth, I would not be surprised if this happens, maybe Madaschi replaced by Colosimo is more realistic. heart_fan10
MELBOURNE Heart is chasing three new internationals after Rutger Worm, Alex Terra and Maycon were released. Midfielders Kristian Sarkies and Kliment Taseski, attacker Kamal Ibrahim and goalkeeper Nikola Roganovic also were released. Sarkies almost certainly will get a call from the new west Sydney franchise, while Newcastle Jets are also believed to be interested. Striker Maycon has signed for Malaysian side Pahang, the former club of Heart assistant coach Ante Milicic, while Roganovic has signed for Victorian Premier League Green Gully. The cull frees up more than $700,000 in Heart's salary cap. Worm, a former youth international with the Netherlands, made 47 appearances, scoring twice, while Brazilian Terra scored seven goals in 44 games. Sarkies, 25, was out of favour for much of the season before breaking through in the final weeks. http://www.heraldsun...x-1226320851422 just those 7 players have freed up 700,000 in the salary cap. Add to that Bolton retiring and colosimo maybe leaving and we've virtually got half the salary cap to sign players. Hopefully williams gets approached by western sydney and we'll be set. What's interesting about the article is the fact that we'll be chasing 'three' new visa players. So obviously the 3+1 rule won't be coming into effect next season. moops
actualy, I think we should give Yan Xiangchuang of Beijing Goan a trial, will be out of contract and out of favour with the club this year, after signing a marquee of their own to fill his position, will play AMR/STR, freeing Dugandzic for striker or AMC depending on formation. Could even fill the AML, AMC or MC if he had to. Edited April 7, 2012 by moops

Western Sydney don't have a CEO, Director of Football, Coach or even a fucking janitor. So who exactly is looking to make signings? "The gifted Argentine, rated the A-League's finest import before Thomas Broich lit up Brisbane Roar, was nominated by a number of senior figures in the game canvassed since news broke that a western Sydney team would join the A-League next season. Translates to "We needed to fill column inches so we made up a list of names" If you want the same pure speculation about Heart signing go and make something up an get it trending on Twitter. It might or might not come true but it will have no relation to the initial rumour being started.

I assume that's http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ante_Rožić . Played In Europe for several years, has an Australian passport, only 26. Apparently at GCU now. Tesla
I thought WS is actually funded by the FFA at this point in time? So the FFA will make all the appointments of staff and players. They said they would appoint a board and CEO independent of them who will then control the club, so he had a valid point in that they wouldnt be looking at players yet since the people who will make that decision arent appointed yet. Cant believe Williams snared himself a 3 year deal he must be pissing himself laughing behind the scenes What do you mean you cant believe it? No one was unhappy with that signing at the time. Looked like an easy transfer fee overseas after 1 season. Why wouldnt we have given him 3 years, we didnt want the "only has 1 year left on contract so sell him to us cheap or we take him for free at end of season" card to be played. mus-28
Wrong. Srhoj is crucial to the team and will tear the opponents apart... again. Not sure when Srhoj has torn opponents apart, unless you're referring to his tackling style. Agree on Williams being kept around, he's a genuine game winner when fit and firing. Just a shame he didn't reach those heights this season, there were flashes but they were few and far between.
jw1739
Williams was a gun at NQF, tbh I was way more stoked we signed him then Fred, just doesn't play well under our game plan unfortunately. It seems crazy to me to sign a player for three years and then find that he doesn't fit the club's game plan. Just one of a number of things that puzzle me about the JvS era. Don't know what the statistics are for A-League clubs, but of our original squad two seasons ago two retired after 1 year (Aloisi and Skoko), two were released after their 1-year contracts were up (Sibon and Tomic), two sought a mutually-agreed release (Heffernan and Beauchamp), and now 5 have been released at the end of their 2-year contracts (Worm, Terra, Taseski, Sarkies and Ibrahim). That makes 11 gone from the original squad. Add Maycon and Roganovic to make 13 departures so far. Of the initial coaching team two (Olsen and JvS) have gone. I don't really look at the other clubs. Is that sort of turnover normal? Anyway, Makes me feel that it is critical that we get the new coaching team settled before we start signing new players, otherwise we could end up finding that they don't fit our new game plan... Huzie
Turn overs good depending on the situation, everyone (apart from Sibon) was let go for good reasons. Why pay Beauchamp 200k when Good does the same job for 50k.. Letting go of 7 players that have done fuck all this year and bringing in 7 new players, you might get 1 or 2 superstars out of it and maybe 2 good players and 3 squad players, all in all it's about building a strong squad. Hence why we were able to sign him.
mus-28
Peter Jungschläger would be worth enquiring about. He looked good in the middle of the park for GCU this season and added some steel & class to what was a pretty lightweight midfield. He wouldn't need time to adapt to the league, and probably wouldn't command huge wages either. Ante Rozic was another from GCU who could be handy, big bastard of a centre back who looked the goods when he wasn't injured.

The Aardvark
Looking through that list I think the following work: Halloran: Would offer another solid attacking option with a big future. Thwaite: Unlikely but would be excellent in that he could fill a variety of positions down back, give us leadership and direction and is actually good. Tyson: Thought he looked alright against us, shouldn't be on high wages and could give Redmayne some competition instead of a Mattie equivalent. Rosic could be worth looking at as a CB but the fact he is injury prone scares me as we already have one CB who is more than capable of hurting themself.
