Aami is such an amazing stadium to watch sport, I don't care how far eithiad bring in their seats, aami is just so much better. The only thing eithiad has on aami is ease of access

LOL - You do realise that Essendon fans voted on mass to have Etihad over the MCG as their Home Ground?

Unpopular opinion but I don't mind Essendon playing @ Etihad, 5 train stops from my usual pre drinking spot, 1/4 of the time spent walking compared to the G, heaps more convenient for a majority of Essendon supporters.

I stand at the footy so I therefore hate it as its the worst ground to stand out of the AFL grounds in Victoria and up there as the worst place to stand in the entire league.

Im of mixed opinion between you too. Like MaliMate, it is 4 stations from my house and the walk is simple and undercover. Changing trains etc to get to Jolimont or Richmond is fucked. That said, I also stand at the footy and Etihad is undeniably shit for standing room.

this. They both have their ups and downs, the G's downside is the travelling, but the upside is the view. whereas etihad is great for travelling, but shit on view.

The issue with Essendon at Etihad is it is such a big club it forces nearly every one of their matches to be fully reserved. The MCG is great to just wander up and choose wherever you want to sit, a much better experience.

How good would it be if we continue at this pace; by July 31st we'll be sitting at over 6000 members!?!

Two seasons ago we passed 6000 members in mid-December (4.5 months later) and last season in mid-October (2.5 months later)!!

It's a huge increase! I just can't wait to see how many people rock up to the first home game.

Based on the trend it looks like we'll have about 11k by the time the season starts.

I think one thing this reflects is there has been a lot of latent interest out there, but they have been deterred by what I would summarise as "The Sidwell-Aloisi Factor".  Now with that behind us and the bringing in of big name players Duff and Villa this is crystallising into memberships.

I always felt that the membership and crowds we got last year, rather than poor, were close to miraculous given the dross that was dished out.

Wonder what is continuing to drive the numbers up?

Is the Lampard talk forming part of it? With no other announcements, other than confirming the FFA Cup game will be in Ballarat, its hard to pinpoint this continued strong showing.

Whatever it is, keep it up :)

Maybe the Sheikh is signing up all his wives and their relos :)

Couldn't agree more.

All fans that continued to show up deserved a medal for their efforts :)

Yeah, instead of one lousy teeshirt for the 5000th member maybe we all deserved one, or a new City scarf, especially those who've stuck it for four bloody years.

^^ Still ticking along.

If Lampard is confirmed for a loan move here, it will be interesting to see if this does create a significant boost. His profile is big enough to cut through to the broader public, even those who only have a passing interest in the game. That may only bring casual fans though, not membership interest.

We have to get results though to gain value from this move, as anything less will reduce the ability to translate that interest into ongoing support for the club once he leaves.

Talking to some victory guys at the football on the weekend and one asked how many members we have (expecting to hear a low number) I told him and just got a, oh, in reply hahahahaha. He was a bit shocked and didn't know how to respond ;)

this guy is a good guy and doesn;t get in big heart v victory discussions and is pretty chilled, but there's these other two guys....SO MUCH RAGE !! I swear they talk more about us than their own team. I know we all have teams we like to hate, but it's to the level that's a little unhealthy hahaha. I don;t know it they love victory or hate us more !!
