The injury occurred in the dying stages of Heart's training session on Wednesday. Kewell was immediately taken for scans which confirmed a further lay-off was required. The veteran of 60 internationals has only played one match to date for his new club, suffering whiplash in the opening-round draw against Melbourne Victory. Having overcome the neck injury, the 35-year-old Kewell was set to return for Friday night's clash with the Wanderers, before suffering the latest setback.
