Mates play for Nunawading in their 'tekniq' program. The club was fucked about a bit last year and basically there all moving to knox regional centre. i don't believe its a merger, knox city will have there own club still, eastern jets will just play in knox. Still not 100% certain on this information.

Basics of the matter are the whole thing started getting fucked cause a certain 'very' influential person in a very high place could persuade those running the club.

He should be about for the NPL Season opener at the Village in two Thursdays: Bergers vs South.

Looking at the 2014 Fixture I am really happy myself as most of the Zebras games are on Sunday which is a good day for me as it means they dont clash with Borough's games which tend to be on Saturdays.

3rd round of the Dockerty Cup this weekend, with bigger clubs starting to make an appearance now.  My local team (Eltham Redbacks) are still alive, so fingers corssed here.

Presume  quite a few people on this forum would actually be playing in this cup (and thus have a theoretical chance to play in the FFA cup)?

Anyone heading down to some matches this weekend? Looking at checking out Port Melbourne or Knights tonight.

Really wanted to go watch Croatia's first game but ffs Friday night is inconvenient, would have been in if it was the usual Sunday arvo kickoff but oh well. Interested to see how they go without Zilic in the backline (Apparently went to pursue a career in bodybuilding of all things). Still believe their squad puts them in a position to at the very minimum be in the top 2 teams in this league. AJMO!

Anyone here went to Dandenong City's home ground near the Police Paddocks? might go there to watch one match since it's 5min from my house

Make sure the locals know you are not a Narc.

It's alright, I'll talk in Polish with a mate and produce that slavic connection with the DC community.

Dandenong Thunder

Last season: 7th place

State Cup: Runner-up

Coach: Dean Hennessey

Thunder will be going into the new season determined to return to winning ways following a disappointing 2013 campaign. Under the guidance of an experienced coach in Dean Hennessy along with the signings of Jake Nakic and Alan Kearney it seems that Thunder will most certainly mean business in 2014.

NPL Squad: Frazer Siddall (GK), Jarryd Barnes, Ilir Pali, Ramazan  Tavsancioglu (vice-captain), Faisal Sakhi Zada, Alan Mulcahy (captain), Kieran Dover, Matthew Miller, Ivan Skorich, Feston Azizi, Kristopher Kioussis, Brendan Elmazovski, Anthony Giannopoulos, David King, Ryan Burns, Alan Kearney (vice-captain), Marcus Schroen, Brendan Craig, Zaim Zeneli (GK), Jake Nakic

Key signings: Ramazan Tavsancioglu (Southern Stars), Alan Mulcahy (Hume City), Jake Nakic (Port Melbourne), Alan Kearney (South Melbourne), Kristopher Kioussis (Bentleigh Greens), Frazer Siddall (Northcote City)

Key departures: Shane Rexhepi (Hume City), Nate Foster (Oakleigh Cannons), Sean McIlroy (St Albans Saints)

Star Man: Jake Nakic

The former Victory youth skipper will be looking to provide the spark which can catapult Thunder back into contention for silverware in 2014.

Green Gully Cavaliers

Last Season : 5th place (Lost Elimination Final)

State Cup: Winners

Player-Coach:  Jeffrey Fleming

Green Gully surprised many last season when they went from the bottom of the table and the sacking of their coach Dean Hennessey in the early rounds of the season to finishing in the finals. Player coach Jeff Fleming resumes the reigns and has made few changes to an already experienced squad.

NPL 2014 squad: Jem Berkant, Mitchell Bissinger, Ratip Cileli, Cameron Davies, Akim Abdul (GK), Stephen Downes, Brent Fisher, Jeffrey Fleming, Kieran Gonzalez (GK), Sean Harding, Jason Hayne, Daniel Jones, Osagie Ederaro, Matthew Sanders, Shaun Timmins, Andy Vargas (captain), Rodrigo Vargas, Brian Vanega, Ardian Vuniqi

Key signings: Jem Berkant (Green Gully U21s), Ratip Cileli (Green Gully U21s), Cameron Davies (Green Gully U21s), Akim Abdul (Moreland United), Ardian Vuniqi (NTC Boys)

Key departures: Michael O’Farrell (Melbourne Knights), Hamid Basma, Muhamed Chawk, Christopher Dib

Star Man: Rodrigo Vargas-

The one time Socceroo and former Melbourne Victory defender had a solid campaign last season and his experience will once again be invaluable this time around.

Hume City

Last season: 9th place

State Cup: Did not enter

Coach: Louie Acevski

Hume City will be a new look side in more ways than one this season. Following a $12 million dollar re-development of facilities the club will most certainly look the part off the field so the real question is, what will the on field situation be this season. After a promising first half of the 2013 VPL season Hume capitulated losing six out of their last seven matches and finishing in 9th spot. They have heavily invested over the off season though with a completely new look squad set to take the NPL by storm. Watch this space.

NPL 2014 squad: Chris Oldfield (GK), Evan Alexandrow-Ridley (GK), Izzy Erdogan (vice-captain), Shane Rexhepi, Baki Efe, Matthew Hennessey, Petar Franjic, Johnny Stojcevski, Jose Guerrero, Nick Hegarty (captain), Kliment Taseski, Devon Bonne, Kaan Korkmaz, Aaron Turner , Joseph Franjic, Ali Turgut, Johhny Buceto, Nick Marinos, Samed Altundag, Richie Cardozo

Key signings: Shane Rexhepi (Dandenong Thunder), Petar Franjic (Richmond), Kliment Taseski (Richmond), Ali Turgut (Southern Stars), Richie Cardozo (Waitakere United, New Zealand), Evan Alexandrow-Ridley (Canberra NTC), Nick Marinos (Heidelberg United), Samed Altundag (Brisbane Roar youth), Joseph Franjic (Sunshine George Cross), Aaron Turner (Para Hills Knights, NPL South Australia), Johhny Buceto (Melbourne Victory Youth)

Key departures: Alan Mulcahy (Dandenong Thunder), Steven Pace, Ersin Kaya

Star Man: Richie Cardozo

A busy offseason was capped off with the return of one of Hume’s favourite sons with Richie Cardozo re-joining the club for the 2014 season. Cardozo comes off a fantastic year with former side Waitakere United where he carried them to a finals birth in New Zealand scoring over 20 goals.

Northcote City:

Last season: 1st place

(Grand Final Winners)

State Cup: 5th Round

Coach: Goran Lozanovski

Following on from the clubs most successful season in its history was always going to be a difficult task and it has been made harder with the departure of a number of key players. With the likes of Milos Lujic, Dean Piemonte and Michael Eager all moving onto greener pastures the club has had to delve into the transfer market resigning the prolific Trent Rixon whilst also picking up former Turkish Super League defender Metekan Yilmaz in the hopes of filling the gaps left by those departures. It will be interesting to see if Northcote can back up what was a sensational campaign last time out.

NPL 2014 squad: Chris Theodoridis (GK, vice-captain), Luke Gavalas (GK), Adrian Chiappetta (captain), Kristian Konstantinidis (vice-captain), Tremayne Sadler, Steve Sifinos, Metekan Yilmaz, Benjudah Fitzpatrick, Philip Petreski, Josh Hiles, Jonathan Munoz, Marino Gasparis, Greg Lombardo, Aaron Ward, Jonathan Bounas, Liam Wooding, Evan Kounavelis, Michael Catalano, Trent Rixon, James Kalifatidis, Wade Dekker

Key signings: Jonathan Munoz (South Melbourne), Greg Lombardo (Pascoe Vale), Metekan Yilmaz (Sivasspor, Turkey), Phil Petreski (Melbourne Heart), Benjudah Fitzpatrick (New Zealand National League), Liam Wooding (Metrostars, South Australia), Trent Rixon (South Melbourne)

Key departures: Milos Lujic (South Melbourne), Michael Eagar (South Melbourne), Frazer Siddall (Dandenong Thunder), Bonel Obradovic (Oakleigh Cannons), Dean Piemonte (Oakleigh Cannons), Nick Tzoulis (Port Melbourne), Alex Rojas, Hayden D’Agostino

Star Man: Trent Rixon

They may have lost one big man up front but they have found a pretty handy replacement in club legend Trent Rixon. Returning after two seasons at South Melbourne, Rixon will be eager to pick up on where he left off at the club where he captained the side to success in the state cup in 2011.

South Melbourne FC

Last season: 6th place (Lost Preliminary Final)

State Cup: Semi Finals

Coach: Chris Taylor

2013 was a success in many ways for South Melbourne FC. Not only did they make the Preliminary finals for the first time since 2006, but it seems that they finally have some security off the pitch with former treble winning coach Chris Taylor signing on for the next two years. On the pitch though South has put together a typically strong squad for the upcoming campaign and will most certainly be aiming for the title in 2014.

NPL 2014 squad: Jason Saldaris (GK), Shpetim Mala, Andrew Mullett, Michael Eagar (captain), Dimitri Tsiaras, Nick Epifano, Matthew Theodore, Milos Lujic, Tyson Holmes, Brad Norton, Iqbal Jawadi, James Musa, Kobbie Boahene, James Reed, Slaven Vranesevic, Christopher Maynard (GK), Andy Kecojevic, Leigh Minopoulos

Key signings: Milos Lujic (Northcote City), Michael Eagar (Northcote City), Andrew Mullett (Oakleigh Cannons), James Reed (Chester Football Club, England), Leigh Minopoulos (Werribee City), Slaven Vranesevic (Springvale White Eagles)

Key departures: Trent Rixon (Northcote City), Bryan Bran (FC Chabab, Netherlands), Peter Gavalas (retired), Shaun Kelly

Star Man: Milos Lujic-

Last season’s VPL Golden Boot winner will be crucial to Hellas’s title push this season especially following the departure of Trent Rixon. Lujic will have an A-League contract on his mind following stints with Wellington and Sydney during the NPLV off-season.

Bentleigh Greens:

Last season: 3rd Place (Lost Grand Final)

State Cup: 5th Round

Coach: John Anastasiadis

Bentleigh enjoyed one of their best seasons in recent history in 2013 with the side making the grand final for the first time since 2002 before losing in extra time against Northcote. Under the guidance of experienced coach John Anastasiadis, Bentleigh will be looking to go one better in 2014.

NPL 2014 squad:

Stuart Webster (GK), Alastair Bray (GK), Wayne Wallace (captain), Thomas Matthews, Luc Jeggo, Liam McCormick, Steve Hatzikostas, Jamie De Abreu, David Stirton, Nick Modaffari, Perry Lambropoulos, Brent McGrath, James Cumming, Anthony Proia, Christian Cavallo, Jack Webster, Luke O’Dea

Key signings: James Cumming (Oakleigh Cannons), Anthony Proia (Melbourne Victory youth), Luc Jeggo (Melbourne Victory youth), Christian Cavallo (Melbourne Victory youth)

Key departures:

Luke Sherbon, Dominic D’Angelo (Oakleigh Cannons), Aron Wilford (Oakleigh Cannons), Ryan De Vries, Dane Milovanovic (Ballarat Red Devils), Luke Pilkington, Jonathan De Biase (Malvern City)

Star Man: Alistair Bray

The Melbourne Heart goalkeeper took out the VPL U21 Player of the season award in 2013 despite missing almost the entire second half of the season after dislocating his shoulder. Bray will be wanting to get back to the form which saw him signed by Melbourne Heart in the hopes of a spot in the senior side for the 2014/15 A-League season.

Goulburn Valley Suns:

2013: N/A

Coach: Melvyn Wilkes

Goulburn Valley are the only newly established club in this seasons NPL. Despite their status as a little known country outfit they have managed to put together a strong squad for the upcoming campaign including the likes of former Socceroo Kristian Sarkies and former Perth Glory winger Naum Sekulovski.

NPL 2014 squad:

Nick Kalafatis ©, Craig Carley, Naum Sekulovski, Kristian Sarkies, Stipo Andrijasevic, Hernan Espindola, Fahed Alghazaly, Rudy Saglam, Ben Clarke, Zac Paraskevas,  Josh Glover, Phillip Petrovski (GK), Riley Hamilton, Cody Sellwood, Tom Langman, Anthony Calandro, Frankie Lagana

Key signings:

Naum Sekulovski (Hume City), Josh Glover (UK), Kristian Sarkies (Bulleen Lions), Craig Carley (Shepparton South), Hernan Espindola (Melbourne Heart National Youth League), Rudy Saglam, Frankie Lagana

Star Man: Kristian Sarkies

The perfect signing for a new club seeking an icon, Sarkies has won everything domestic football in Australia has to offer since bursting onto the scene as a young star in the inaugural Hyundai A-League season back in 2005 and he will be hoping to guide Goulburn Valley to a respectable finish in their first ever NPL campaign.

Heidelberg United

2013 SL1: 1st Place

State Cup: 4th Round

Coach: George Katsakis

Heidelberg return to the top flight of Victorian football following relegation to State League one in 2013 where they won the title by four points. With a mixture of youth and experience, the Bergers will be looking to club legend George Katsakis to guide them to safety in 2014.

NPL 2014 squad:

Stefan Baricevic, Luke Byles ©, Leslie Doumbalis, Andrew Cartanos, Daniel Heffernan, Dean Jancevski, Kostas Kanakaris, Petr Kratky, Mark McGough, Griffin McMaster (GK), Paul Miller, Steven Pace, Jack Petrie, Phillip Petrovski (GK), Zane Sole, Haris Stamboulidis, Daniel Vilevski, Jordan Wilkes, Yusuf Yusuf

Key signings:

Griffin McMaster (Oakleigh Cannons), Steven Pace (Hume City), Andrew Cartanos (South Melbourne FC), Dean Jancevski (Sporting Whittlesea FC), Mark McGough, Jack Petrie, Yusuf Yusuf

Key departures:

Nick Marinos (Hume City), Saso Alexovski, Oliver Rowland

Star Man: Steven Pace

The former Melbourne Victory defender joins on from Hume City where he was a key performer for a number of seasons. Pace adds valuable experience at the back alongside Luke Byles and will hope to form a solid partnership which could be crucial to the Bergers survival in 2014.

Melbourne Knights:

2013 VPL: 2nd Place (Lost Semi Final)

State Cup: 4TH Round

Coach: Andrew Marth

Following on from a fantastic 2013 season, Melbourne Knights will be aiming for the title this time round. Having finished in second spot over the regular season last year Knights were unfortunate to bow out in a heated derby against South Melbourne in the Semi Finals of last season’s Finals series in front of over 5000 people at Knights Stadium.

NPL 2014 squad:

Shayan Alinejad, Leo Athanasiou, Milan Batur, Adrian Barresi, Dallas Colelough, Anthony Colosimo, Jacob Colosimo, Rodrigo Covarrubias, Marijan Cvitkovic ©, Anthony Duzel, Tomislav Fadljevic, Daniel Gicevski, Ivan Grgic, Luke Jurcic, Billy Kathopoulis, Michael Katiforis, Dennis Koutroulis, Antun Kovacic, Ante Kozul, Chris May (Gk), James Mcgarry, Michael O’Farrell, Damien Rastocic, Michael Simms, Nikola Srbinovski, Chris Stefani, Christopher Talajic, Sam Torrens, Tomislav Uskok, Daniel Visevic

Key signings:

Rodrigo Covarrubias, Michael O’Farrell (Green Gully), Daniel Visevic (Port Melbourne), Antun Kovacic (Dandenong City)

Key departures:

Ryan Filipovic (Werribee City), Adam Zilic, Craig Sweeney (St Albans), Andrew Barisic (South China)

Star Man: Rodrigo Covarrubias

The former Pascoe Vale striker signs on at the club where he spent the majority of his junior career. Having spent time in Argentina with River Plate in recent years, Covarrubias will be eager for another strong season in the hopes of impressing any potential A-League scouts.

Oakleigh Cannons:

2013 VPL: 8TH Place

State Cup: 4TH Round

Coach: Miron Bleiberg

Oakleigh will be looking to rebound following a disappointing 2013 campaign where the club finished in 8th place. Despite showing glimpses of quality last season they were never able to get it together when it counted and will be looking to shoot back up the table in 2014.

NPL 2014 squad:

Omar Ammache, George Krommidas, Thomas Lakic, Michael Karuiki, Loui Paraskevas, Evan Kraloglou (GK), John Honos (GK), Aron Wilford, Dominic D’Angelo, Thomas Lakic, Goran Zoric, Evan Christodoulou (captain), Bonel Obradovic, Veton Korcari, Dean Piemonte, Dusan Bosnjak, Nate Foster, Alexander Connell, Stelios Konstantinidis, Ariel Ritz, Gideon Sweet, Andreas Govas, Ian Kamau, Jordan Lowdon

Key signings:

Andreas Govas (AEL Kalloni FC, Greece), Aron Wilford (Bentleigh Greens), Dominic D’Angelo (Bentleigh Greens), Nate Foster (Dandenong Thunder), John Honos (AO Trahanon, Greece), Bonel Obradovic (Northcote City), Dean Piemonte (Northcote City), Ariel Ritz (Richmond), Gideon Sweet (Richmond), Jordan Lowdown (Waitakere United, New Zealand)

Key departures:

Jamie Cummings (Bentleigh Greens), Andrew Mullett (South Melbourne), Ricky Diaco

Star Man: Nate Foster

Foster has been one of the VPL’s best strikers over the past few years having won the treble in 2012 with Dandenong Thunder. The Canadian will be looking to build a partnership with former Northcote City forwards Bonel Obradovic and Dean Piemonte in the hopes of acquiring silverware in 2014.

Port Melbourne FC

2013 VPL: 6TH Place

State Cup: 4th Round

Coach: Eric Vassiliadis

Port Melbourne were desperately unlucky to miss out on finals in 2013 after initially securing 5th spot before the scandal involving Southern Stars saw them lose points meaning the club eneded up in sixth spot after a final day defeat to South Melbourne. That disappointment certainly hasn’t impacted the sharks though with the squad even more determined for success in 2014.

NPL 2014 squad:

Luka Prelevic, Lisandro Paz, Andrew Milicevic, Nick Krousouratis, James Riccobene, Connor Redden, Kamal Ibrahim, Amadu Koroma, Andrew Viola, Kosta Stoumpus, Nick Tzoulis, John Lazaridis, Alessandro Venezia, Phillip Riccobene (captain), Chris Grossman (vice-captain), Adam Hrehoresin (GK),  Kevin Braniff, Lambros Honos

Key signings:

Kevin Braniff, Nick Tzoulis (Northcote City), Andrew Viola (Southern Stars)

Key departures:

Marty Mason (St Albans Saints), Daniel Visevic (Melbourne Knights), Jake Nakic (Dandenong Thunder), Graham Hockless (Retired), Luke Bowen, Felix Rosman

Star Man: Chris Grossman-

The Former North Queensland Fury central midfielder was a key contributor to their finals push in 2013 and will be crucial to Port’s hopes come 2014 especially following the departure of Jake Nakic.

Another win (me thinks ASADA may be taking an interest soon at this rate!) to my lads the Eltham Redbacks.  Now feeling guilty that I couldn't be bothered exposing my cold to the night air.  I make Round 4 to be the last 64 teams and will coincide with a massive step up in class of opposition.

A respectable 2-4 loss to State League 1 outfit Fawkner Blues (ie 4 levels above).  Cup dream officially OVER.

2-2 Draw with Riversdale over the weekend, got to two nil up and probably should have held on, but two forced substitutions in the first half was always going to make it difficult. Combine that with an absolute peach of a goal from the always dangerous Crnic and it ends up being a fairly good result.

Went and watched Melbourne Knights yesterday, pretty pissed off with the result considering how many chances we had to bury them. Blew a 1-0 lead with 5-10 minutes left to play and lost 2-1.

Visevic has to be one of the most frustrating players I've seen. Has all the talent but just thinks he's slightly better than what he is, if this lad played with some discipline he could easily be playing in the A-League.

Knights will finish top 2-3 this season, very strong squad.

Was there yesterday as well.

Disappointing result, but you're right, solid looking squad.

Hope Colosimo is alright, looked nasty.

Moving to within just a few ks from Kevin bartlett reserve i probably will be attending a few richmond games. Seems like they'll be quiet a few heart fans there as well.

If you enjoy footy too then feel free to come and watch a few of the might snakes games! See DRoy and myself in action!
