Who is our 2nd biggest rival?

  1. 1. Who is our 2nd biggest rival?

Recommended Posts

Had this discussion with some guys in the pub after the Glory game. Over the last 3 seasons I reckon they'd go close to our next biggest rival. Simulated penalty from Baird that denied us our first win at home, first finals campaign against them etc. but after the weekend I reckon West Sydney could emerge as our next biggest rival for us.

Vizitards obviously take 1st place, but interested to hear who people rate as our next most hated team after them and for whatever reasons.

Poll included.

I just have a completely irrational hatred for West Sydney. Is what I would have said before the game on Friday.

I believe it is quite rational now haha! Watching on tv and hearing the commentators froth over everything they did, and the way they pumped up the RBB annoyed me too. Makes it very hard to like them.

The tension and shit talk going on in the west sydney thread + the small incident story during the away trip, and they fact I cringe when they do the poznan may have my vote.

Tossing up in the other options,

I constantly remember that I think nearly every game against Wellingtion, there is a lot of tempers thrown and scuffles between the players.

The moment when Heart caused an upset victory over Brisbane on the away game (2-1), when Germano performed a unique celebration with the santa hat, and the games with Roar after this, in my opinion the following games with Brisbane were seen as very competitive and tight game play

Adelaide away games seems to rake in solid numbers of travellers for Melbourne Heart if I stand correct. Have it as a healthy rival?

Looking at another perspective,

Knowing that before Heart existed, it had always been a Melbourne - Sydney rival,

Maybe look at it as though, victory would take on Sydney FC, Melbourne Heart take on West Sydney, two groups of Melbourne-Sydney rivalry, Blue vs Blue, [Red vs Red + both newly/successfully established clubs in the league.]

I don't know.

Users can chose not too vote and write that in the thread if that's how they feel.

Or you could have put a 'None' option in the poll, to keep its integrity, this way people feel obliged to vote.

There is no clear '2nd biggest rival', and if there were, this thread probably wouldn't exist.

(FWIW, not having a dig at all, just putting it out there.)

Only MV. The rest of the league is practice for the derbys. Mind you it's always good to win those practice games. Who we hate the most is a different question form who are the biggest rivals. I think our fortune is that as the rest of the league hates MV then we are naturally their second team, and this lessens the rivalry somewhat. My guess is that it'll probably end up being WSW but it'll take time to develop. The game was already being referred to as 'little red'.

Really? So basically everything that Victory fans say about us is true? We are only here to piss them off? We have no real need to be here and we dont stand for anything other than being "not Victory"? I do think they are our biggest rival as we are fighting for the same turf, but to feel that no other games matter is worrying.

For me I would say Perth are our 2nd biggest rivals. Ever since they cost us our first home win (Biard's dive) they have been there to piss us off and fuck us over.

Gonna have to go with the new team in town WsW. purely based on the fact they are the new boys in town and and its hard to manufacture a rivalry.

With every other team in the comp we all hate(sorry dislike) Victory and kind of get on well with all other teams based on our common dislike.

It looks like wsw are stealing all the limelight now, and i have always had a hatred for any Sydney sporting teams... (although i do like to visit)

So i vote for a backup rival of WSW.

West Sydney, simply because that Bravas cunt has been posting non stop on the forums and seems to be only looking for trouble. Also the fact that everyone, especially them is saying that their support is better then ours first was in the first year, and that its embarrasing how we got beat and their fans are more passionate and dedicated, larger active members. I just feel like they're bashing us and MV, but mostly us.

the shit after the match? police escort and stuff?

Did you go? Because most people I have spoken to who went have told me that other than a few scuffles very little actually happened.

And certainly nowhere near enough to see them as our biggest rivals outside Melbourne

Western Sydney.. Because being from melbourne I dislike Sydney, and they decieded red and white would also suit their team.. (they're away kit obviously) and they are just an arrogant support group..lets he honest the Poznan is for the club Poznan and them only..

And ever since walking to heart vs perth and getting caught in their 10 man march that was just pathetically annoying, I haven't loved that lot either..

Well after what happened I definitely won't be going back to an away game there. It's not just those idiots that started the fight but the fact that it was obvious from early on that they were going to do something like that but security did nothing. I'll admit I felt a bit scared.

Before Friday I had nothing against WSW. Now I see them as our biggest rivals, based mainly on their idiot fans. I'd be quite happy for Victory to thrash them when they play there, and that's saying something.
