  1. When was that, I can't remember? Must have never happened....

  2. Players wouldn't celebrate a goal under Joyce because scoring a goal means you you lose possession

  3. Well there is a silver lining yes, but that’s not quite the same as a blessing. yeah I know semantics.

  4. I think that game was a blessing in disguise actually. Definitely a bit of a wake-up call after a fairly easy pre-season schedule.

  5. That's not the end of the world with our squad. Genreau into midfield is the obvious and very strong option, but there are several other midfield permutations. There are likewise options on the wing, with Najj anyway so far being on the bench at best. Our third pick keeper is a big lad and can do a job. If it opens up bench opportunities for the next tranche of youth prospects then all good.

  7. I think playing soccer in Australian winter is a death wish in its own right. I wouldn't know the stats, but I'm sure many A-League supporters would also support AFL or NRL and watching both concurrently will be near impossible. There's really no clear solution though as the growing heat is a big issue.

  8. This McGree kid getting lucky again. 4 goals from 4 games. It's gonna take more than a few lucky strikes to get a big move to the South African Premier Soccer League like Baccus. I hope any club that thinks of taking the risk on him gets Wazza's opinion so they save themselves the time on a guy who tries to score goals at the detriment on maintaining a 95% pass completion rate.

  9. Yes exactly but perhaps those 3K are full season memberships. I find including the short term memberships in the tally even more deceiving. The membership tally is used to criticise or praise turn outs on match day however the expired short term memberships are never removed from the tally.

  10. Wales and Atkinson went selected along with McGree and Brandon Wilson over the incident in Cambodia.

  11. Seems an odd bump, the fact that the club hasn’t announced it as being a new club record makes me feel like we’ve given heaps of freebies out perhaps?

  12. Because people complain about not having a week of football and how having a break so early in the season disrupts the flow of the competition but then will also complain about how playing about how playing through internationals how half the squad are missing= people like to complain

  15. Some very good points here. Mark Bosnich is an advocate for this. Lets be honest. Only one city is going to be affected. Melbourne. Sydney NRL crowds are putrid and the league in general is held up by Brisbane, Melbourne and a couple of Sydney clubs. Syd FC, Wanderers and Macarthur would be largely unaffected. Stadiums are an issue, however this would be very easily solved with certain agreements on playing dates etc. All big Asian leagues are Feb/March to November. This is where we need to be. 15 teams, 28 games. No more. Short term pain for long term gain. Has to happen.

  16. League should mandate any new stadiums built are indoor to the point where they can have decent climate control

  18. Holy shit credit to whoever took this, zoomed in to all our players and great to see they're losing their shit after the first goal....not sure if it's because of the 10 year anniversary game or our players actually give a shit, spot me a city player that doesn't have their arms up....hell Deano looks like he's giving the finger to the CCM fans, and Erick with the cheeky celebration turn to the bench... ecstatic, idk about you lot but this is what we've been missing ever since JVS left, though I must point out that it would be rare to see players under Joyce celebrate similar to Friday night when we score. 5 games in undefeated, top of the ladder, Terrace is back !! cmon city

  19. Its gonna be a tough battle between AFL, NRL, Super 15's and Elon Musk hiring Wales to launch rockets to Mars.

  20. If only that Adelaide coach would wise up and play him in the wing. Then he could get a lot more involved in wide defence, instead of wasting his time scoring goals.

  21. The venue situation has all the hall marks of the Brisbane Bears. For those that don’t know the story, in about 1986 the then VFL created a new team “in Brisbane” with the shock winners being funded by high profile Entrepreneur Christopher Skase and the front man being actor Paul Cronin, best known for his role in the long running drama The Sullivans. For reasons lost on the mists of time rather than set up in Brisbane, the bears set up at Carrara on the Gold Coast. Given the rivalry between the two cities it was a weird move. To make things even more stupid the temporary arrangement then became permanent. It wasn’t until Bears eventually moved to Brisbane that they got any traction either on or off the pitch. This Western United based in Geelong has the same stench about it.

  23. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/mar/04/bruno-fornaroli-debacle-exposes-melbourne-citys-soullessness I suspect that at the age of 32 Bruno won't be again the player he was in that golden season he had with us. He'll still score goals, but won't be the force he was. Whoever was to "blame" I will never think of it as other than a sad story that should never have been allowed to happen the way it did.
