  1. I don't won't be pedantic but it's the second time you've mentioned 12 yard box. It's actually 18 yard box and penalty spot is 12 yards. Sorry for being anal. I prefer to use big box little box Fwiw.

  3. Perhaps Bruno’s set back is due to them operating on his knee when he had a crook ankle?

  5. OH How the mighty have fallen . LOL. Should have kept his big gob shut, nobody is bigger than the club no matter where they play be it in a pub squad or in the top leagues around the world.

  6. Hmmm. all 3 strike me as different. Koren was a much decorated player who’s time was simply up. City weren’t familiar with the A League, had under estimated the impact of the hard grounds on old cooked legs and probably under estimated how much Koren had slipped. Colazo to date had been easily the best of the 3, but whilst he was clearly a best XI player (unlike the other 2) he didn’t boss games. Given his age and pedigree I’m still not sure why not. Budzindki on the other hand has impressed the gaffer so little that he has barely had anytime in the position he was recruited for, making it very hard for fans to figure him out. He does seem to have been recruited on a “last man standing” philosophy and all in all (given they had 6 months) the whole thing is very strange. Is there a common thread? To be honest I can’t see one, but happy to be corrected.

  7. My take is this is a bad outcome for both Cahill and City. I reckon Cahill put City in a difficult spot, but I don’t think they managed it very well (yeah I get it most people disagree with me). Every time we have a corner and it turns into nothing, I think what if Cahill was on the field? The bottom line is it’s very easy to show someone the door, it’s a lot harder to manage things so that you get the best out of them. City took the easy way out.

  8. Fundamental errors in that article: - Carrusca did not occupy a visa slot on the roster; - Bruno did not have a knee reconstruction.

  11. The alarming thing is that @Murfy1 ‘s assessment is hardly rocket science. Most people would adopt this is the default position. Our continuity of players really compares poorly to the Tards, I mean Broxham played his 250th for them on the weekend. We’d struggle to have 11 played 50 & I don’t think we’ve had one player reach 100. It really reflects badly on the club.

  13. Lol what an idiot. Could have easily stayed at the club until January and gotten at least a little playing time but instead fucks off early and spends the last couple of months focussing on his new-found passion of shirtless instagram stories in Byron Bay and now can't get a club. Enjoy the World Cup Timmy

  14. Really? With all due respect that's horseshit. Budzinski and Koren (and I'm only judging them on their performances in a city shirt and Budzinski is still not confirmed 100%IMO, but is pretty close) are the closet thing to one way players I could imagine. Ross and Bruno would get very little service unless the opposition had even more lazy mids. Now if you were to compare Ross and Bruno to Bobo and Bosque you may get more support although at this time it's a purely hypothetical scenario.

  15. One of 2 players IMO that have outwardly shown a desire above all else to work hard for the shirt, his team mates and the fans. Haters can bloody well piss off for all I care.

  16. Maybe Budzinski doesn't have to impact Ross staying. Could Ross be downgraded from marquee status and fit under the cap? If all goes smoothly he'd get a handy pay cheque for his time in Bruno's place and then perhaps is happy to take whatever for the rest of the season.

  18. That's what I thought from some apparent inside info I heard but then that bloke who's pretty involved with the roar on 442 said the opposite was true wth JA and Moore.

  19. I hope Ross stays. Before he played I was expecting him to score 20 goals in his loan spell, after 3 weeks I was disappointed, thought he was NPL quality. But now I want him to stay, if he took his chances and had a better supply early in the season he could have had close to the 20 goals. If Ross and Bruno play together and click, that will be one dangerous attack, would hope to get atleast 10 goals from the pair in the final 5-8 rounds.

  20. City’s bid to extend hot-shot McCormack’s loan on a knife edge By Dave Lewis 16 JAN 2018 - 6:57 PM UPDATED 1 HOUR AGO [...] City, meanwhile, are confident they can keep boom youngster Daniel Arzani at the club, despite talk of a switch elsewhere in the A-League for the budding 19-year-old magician. Arzani has been linked with Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers, but City officials believe he will dig in and continue to develop under Joyce, with his career path far more likely to result in an eventual EPL move under the umbrella of the City Football Group. That trend was cemented by Aaron Mooy with his move to Manchester City, and eventual A$17 million sale to Huddersfield. And City are convinced Arzani, whose dancing feet have left a trail of bewildered defenders in recent weeks, sees the merit of inking a contract extension beyond June. Arzani is represented by one of football’s leading agencies, Base Soccer, which has on its books the likes of Ashley Young (Manchester United) Mohammed Elneny (Arsenal), Kyle Walker (Manchester City), and Danny Rose (Tottenham). It also brokered the recent deal which saw former Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou take charge at J.League club Yokohama F. Marinos. London-based Australian Frank Trimboli and former Socceroo turned player agent Vince Grella are part of the Base Soccer team. https://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/article/2018/01/16/citys-bid-extend-hot-shot-mccormacks-loan-knife-edge

  21. Nah you're right, it does come down to doing your due diligence. My comment was more a general one, it does seem that maccas is a good one for example, but the majority seem to be scams. Charge you too much, force you to do expensive as fuck refurbs, if you're doing well they'll just open another next to you, etc. A lot of people must be not doing their due diligence signing up to ones with some of those dodgy terms. Not sure how much value you even get out of a lot of them, shit like Gloria jeans or Donut King or whatever the fuck isnt even that strong a brand. Also a lot of them, even if they aren't scams, if the owner can actually do well off it it's a lot down to their individual attributes as much as anything in which case they could probably do well in a different business and don't need to be franchising. I just hate fucking franchises tbh, shit for customers, generally shit for franchisees, generally only good for franchiser.

  25. I suggested at the outset of this that he would be lucky to find a berth higher than English League 1, certainly if he plans to play regularly. And his pay at that level will be a huge shock. To put it in perspective, Ross is, bluntly, an English Championship reject. That's very harsh, and I think the guy has probably been hard done by, but nevertheless, having been in that position, he is now top scorer in the A League (discounting Bobo three goals as he should have been banned when he scored them). If Cahill expects to be hot property in the English Championship or the Scottish Premier, he has to be demonstrably better than Ross. And he clearly isn't. He just has a bigger ego. Right now, if Ross McCormack qualified for the Roos, he'd be in the squad way before Tim.

  26. According to Lynch Fornaroli had a knee reconstruction, funny that, i thought he had a broken ankle. Maybe Lynch has been watching the wrong team .

  27. I think this is a good post tbh, sums all three up fairly well. I think ultimately with Colazo he just wasnt suited to the game style here, which perhaps is the same case with Bud. Hence why i was at the time pretty keen on Troisi; he was at least a proven performer in the league and you reasonably knew what you were going to get. Marquees, especially in the CAM position can be a bit of a roll of the dice in a league such as here, which operates in pretty unique conditions. Interestingly enough our other target Antun Palic only featured in three fixtures for a total of 86 minutes for Mouscron in the Belgian League before being released last month as a free agent.

  30. Nobody knows how manageable or not the situation was, but if Cahill was behaving as badly internally as he was externally (using an interview immediately after the nation qualified for a world cup to throw his club under the bus for his own selfish ends) then I don't think the club really had any choice. No player should be bigger than the club and it seems to me Cahill likely felt that he was, and in that case I'm glad the club turfed him and I'd expect that kind of result for anyone on the playing list in that situation. This whole unemployment period for him just makes the decision we made look even sounder IMO, he hasn't got the amount of suitors begging for his services that he clearly though he would, well done Tim.

  31. Have been singing his praises for weeks now and did so on the Pod last week. Has worked hard to get his body right and now he reaping the rewards this season. absolute workhorse in the middle of the park. Quality bloke as well which makes it even better that he's showing some real hungry to place for the shirt

  32. Really that's more a discussion for the Salary Cap thread (and perhaps others) in the Australian Football forum. Getting back on topic...overall, IMO Murfy has it right - "Too many young players, and too many old players, and not enough players at their best football ages (between 23 and 30) has definitely led to inconsistency and limited success IMO" and "When you take a step back and look at it, Melbourne Heart and now City's track-record is hardly surprising when the fans following the club have been doing so for much much longer than the employees at Melbourne City have been working there (with fans supporting the club for up to 8 years, and players not being at the club for 2)." I would think Scott Munn would be the only survivor at the club over the entire period of its existence. In saying that though, I would think that other A-League clubs probably also show a pretty high turnover of staff.

  33. Yes got my first car there, no issues tbh but probably paid a bit overs, for an auction anyway. Its basically dealer > auction > private in terms of prices, because in terms of dodginess its the exact inverse, so it makes sense. I've bought all my cars with my dad with me, has always bought second hand cars his whole life and so knows his way around, so yeah doesnt hurt to bring someone that knows a thing or two.

  34. Yep, fully agree. I've given him a fair bit of stick over the start of the season, but I'm very happy to eat humble pie. This guy is a class act and we are seriously lucky to have him. Would love to see him stay permanently

  36. Ok this guy has grown on me so much over the last few games and deserves so much credit for a few reasons. Firstly no matter how he scores the ball is ending up in the back of the net and with regularity. Secondly his commitment and professionalism during matches has been nothing short of fantastic. He has constantly been working hard, pushing himself, never dropping his head and given everything for the team. It'd be so easy for him given his background and also his playing history to disrespect the league and not give his all but it is apparent his attitude is in the right place. He's copped a lot of shit this season and I for one am very happy to see the guy, who's struggled in a number of environments be settled, apparently happy and performing well.

  37. How can you say that, he is probably the best passer of the ball in the A-league and even over long distance i was watching him closely yesterday and most of his long passes found the intended player as well as the shorter passes.
