thedukeofhearts
Tuesday 2 Sept 6:30 Tom Flood (fixture says Epsom Reserve, but 90% chance it will be played at Tom Flood Centre) I'll confirm when made 100% official. From what I've been told the council will run buses from the train station (not 100% on details yet) to the ground on the night (although it's walkable 15-20 stroll mins downhill) Also anyone coming that wants a drink before hand, theres a pub 50m from the entrance. More info and I'll provide direction maps as it gets 100% confirmed. Anyone planning on making the trip up and need info, just ask.

thedukeofhearts
hahaha it was a bit like that during that real wet period, that's why Epsom was going to be used, but it's coming up a treat now. But it's named after Tom Flood, a cyclist (have a velodrome around the oval). We can go to the pitch in strathdale if people want a swim haha. When that pitch floods people get there boards and tire tubes out !! Yep, and that's right, a velodrome. It's not as good as a rectangle pitch, but surprisingly it's not AS BAD a people think then they find out. Better than a footy oval anyway. thedukeofhearts
hahahaha now you mentioned it we (FCB) might have a chance to score. We can just sit back and counter with our man breeze and purdy and use pace and actually might pinch a goal hahaha. although duff, mate, and williams are going to have a field day !!! :/
M13
Being unfamiliar with the league system.. what can we expect from FCB?
thedukeofhearts
to be witches hats hahaha. nah, we are NPL1 (second level in the state league) and a bit out of form and have a few injuries to key players so theres been a lot of young kids in recent weeks. City will have no problem. It will be more of a fine tuning and getting use to each game for City. Bit like the ballarat match that they had before the UK camp. I'm hoping some the melbournes movement will rub off on bendigo during the game. The team was put together 5 weeks before the season started so our defence was all over the place early, but some of out forward movement was actually really good. Second half of the season though it's just gone in to bombing it long. :/
LR9
They're at about the same level as Whittlesea Ranges, who were beat 7-0 by Melbourne in a friendly a few weeks ago. Edited August 17, 2014 by LR9

thedukeofhearts
The match is now at Epsom instead of Tom Flood. For those comes up via the calder just go straight through bendigo and keep going. The ground is pretty much the last thing on the edge of town, you can't miss it. It's a bit stranged but that's the pitch City wants to play on, which is actually the worst out of the 3 options :/ Also members are free. Just bring photo ID and they have your name in a book at the gate and will tick you off. Edited August 25, 2014 by thedukeofhearts

Murfy1
These were the past 3 starting lineups: So after the Sydney game Redmayne and Dugandzic were dropped, and unsurprisingly Koren replaced Kalmar, but even then Kalmar was dropped from the squad. Also I think Garuccio has been punished/dropped for seemingly throwing a stray arm/elbow after he was subbed on in the Hume game. I can actually see a few players being dropped for the Bendigo game after the Adelaide match. I reckon there will be a bit more experimentation before the season starts, and pretty much all players will get their chance to show that they should get significant playing time this season. But still I think the plan is to have a settled lineup soon. But if players are deemed to have under-performed, like was seemingly the case with Redmayne and Dugandzic and maybe Kalmar after the Sydney match, I can easily see some more team changes happening in what remains of pre-season. NewConvert
Well looking at the strating line up that Murfy1 has above it seems that the back line definitely has Wieleart, Kisnorbo and Ramsey. Hoffman/Archibald competing for the RB spot; and Velaphi/Redmayne for GK. Murdocca, Mooy and Duff seem to be certain starters as well as Williams. The rest are all in play. As for Ramsey, well his future is in his hands.
Dylan
Hoffman didnt go to Alice and everytime Germano has been played or subbed on, his position is RB. So I'd say thats Hoffman's competition. Edited August 25, 2014 by Dylan

Heart_Attack
It's been a long time since we last played in Bendigo therefore JVS must give the locals what they want, Hoffman playing up front so he can smash another second half hat-trick.

Murfy1
PREVIEW: Melbourne City FC battle FC Bendigo Monday, 1 September 2014 Melbourne City FC will face FC Bendigo on Tuesday night as the Club continues its pre-season roadshow. John van’t Schip’s side will look to bounce back from the 1-0 defeat at the hands of Adelaide United against NPL1’s newest outfit. Melbourne City FC have been playing a positive brand of football throughout the pre-season and van’t Schip has been pleased with his side’s progress with the Round 1 clash against Sydney FC looming. The side will come into the game with a clean bill of health from a gruelling trip to Central Australia with Damien Duff playing a full 90 minutes in the ‘Red Centre’ and a commanding performance from Patrick Kisnorbo at the back. Melbourne City FC have had a nine day break since their last pre-season match and will again test the depth of the squad at Epsom Huntly Reserve. Finishing was an issue van’t Schip addressed post-match in Alice Spring and the Dutchman will look at the range of attacking options he will have at his disposal against the regional Victorian side. FC Bendigo will head into Tuesday's clash coming off a 2-0 loss against Moreland Zebras on Saturday afternoon. The newly formed club struggled in the early stages of the season but have steadied with a string of positive results. Bendigo's second half of the season however has seen them go eight games without a win. FC Bendigo are led by player-coach Steve Martin and boasts a number of players who could trouble Melbourne City FC. Centre midfielder and import Matthew Breeze has been FC Bendigo’s star this season, leading their goal scoring. The Englishman is a dead ball specialist and will look for goals anwhere around the penalty area. Former player Sebastian Mattei and former youth player, Alon Blumgart also play for Bendigo in what will be an eventful clash in the centre of Victoria. Match Details Pre-Season Friendly Tuesday 2 September 2014 FC Bendigo vs. Melbourne City FC Epsom Huntly Reserve UPDATE: The Kick-off time for the FC Bendigo pre-season clash has moved from 6PM to 6:30PM Tickets Adult: $10 Children and Concession: $5 Under 5 and Members: FREE http://www.melbournecityfc.com.au/article/preview/1mgcst5u8u5ni1da0xlfd80oge Edited September 1, 2014 by Murfy1
jw1739
Alon Blumgart was written up as a "diamond in the rough" when he first joined Heart. I saw him a few times in the NYL and he looked good but seemed to be carrying a leg injury in several matches. He then moved, IIRC, to Israel for while, but is obviously back in Victoria. I wonder whether we will look at him again?
thedukeofhearts
Blumgart hasn't done to bad, but I doubt City will be looking at him, he's not dominating. Although from what I've heard he's playing out of position with us (FCB) I don't know where he played with the youth team. I was talking to one of our melbourne based players dads and he said he know him well and he's a better central player. We have him playing out wide and he doesn't have the pace, when he gets the ball at his feet though he looks so smooth and clean. Would really benefit having in the centre and he would do so much better. We have a number of issues with positioning of players though :/ He did score a JIZZ worthy goal early in the year (although I didn't know it was him at the time) (On a side note though, I'm normally busy chanting or bang a drum to know who has done what. I just see players in Yellow and follow the ball rather than who does what, so he might be doing his little role brilliantly) Edited September 1, 2014 by thedukeofhearts

Agree, from what I recall of him in the NYL, he was one of the better defenders we had I think we have him playing at RB (maybe) Would like to see him CM though(he's lacked a little pace against quicker players outwide). He seems so easy on the ball and turns and passes off nicely. (although he would probably get a sore neck looking at it go over his head with the way we have been playing in recent weeks !!)
