Not arguing that at all! Derby specials, particulatly the sponges and the ones that start chants annoy me as much as the next bloke, where they stand however does not. As long as they are singing like everyone else

Look, non-derby games if theirs enough room, it doesn't worry me if you want to come and stand in yarraside.

But in the last derby, it was so packed with specialists that i had to stand behind my mate, just to keep my spot in there. I'm not looking for a heap of room, but I should at least be able to have a seats-worth of space to chant, considering i am a season ticket holder.

I hate being that 'bloke', but i was so squashed i had to ask ACG to check people's tickets (Not that it actually worked, as soon as i came back from getting a beer all those kids who had been kicked out had already snuck back in)

It just ruins what should be a good night when i can't even move in my spot due to a couple of hardcore teens wanting to get some snaps on facebook.

I was with you until you said this... even if they are specials you dont dob follow Heart fans into ACG. :droy:

not sure if it was you or not, but some guy came up to the back of bay 16, and asked for people to move as we were in his seat. even brought security. at the same time there were heaps of seats in the middle of bay 16.

not sure you had to be squashed in bay 17 when bay 16 had plenty of seats.

Nope, i had just gone to the bathroom and two kids thought they had the right to sneak into my seat whilst i was gone, and their was an ACG security guard at the end of my ailse, before i walked in so i asked him to check their tickets and they were booted out.

While other derbys i've gritted my teeth and just bared it, this was a special situation, and the fact these cunts thought they could just sneak into my spot whilst i was gone just pissed me off, and i thought i had every right to ask ACG to do their job.

As i said previously though, they just snuck back in after i got my beer at half-time so it didn't matter anyway.

I honestly believe that the Government should put a lot more money into the defence force, I would like to see Australia's military expanded greatly.

I genuinely want to see what others think of this...

The way I see it, our military is too shit to adequately do it's job so we might as well just spend less because either way we are relying on our allies if shit gets real.

Would cost way too much to get it to an acceptable standard.

I can't wait for World War 3 or some sort of international disaster.

This world needs a good genocide and a real shake up.

TBH I kind of agree, been to long since any real shit went down, people have gotten complacent. But on the other hand, it would be a lot of fucking effort, cbf. Rather just kick back and enjoy the continued economic benefits of world peace

I agree that we will be relying on our Allies, but if it gets to a point were we actually need to defend ourselves then shit is getting real and the US would likely have alot on their plate. Meaning we might not have the support we need.

An example is WWII and the british

The US' military power is so far beyond anyone else I can't imagine a situation where they would be seriously strained. Not to mention that most of the 2nd tier military powers are US allies anyway.

Where would this money come from?

Foreign aide ;)

Geez he would have to be rich! What kind of assistant would he be? Like a PA or just like a secretary? Any foreign country in particular this aide would have to be from? One of the gulf states would be best I suppose...

...with about 400,000 active-duty personnel in its armed forces (the TNI). Contrast Australia - about 58,000. So if you think Indonesia is a real military threat to this country then you're going to have to do one hell of a lot to be effective against that threat. Pretty much put the country on a war footing.

Won't be done because of ineptitude and laziness.

We've got America looking after us, if i recall they have set up some type of base up at Darwin? So if we were to be attacked they would be the first to help us, considering the fact we've helped them out whenever they have needed it. Until we run out of things to dig out of the ground, we'll always be valuable to someone.

Unpopular to many but do believe we need some wide spread disease and famine to control world population.

thats a really fucked up thing to say

That's pretty much the argument I made earlier, so I don't disagree, I was just pointing out we do have reasonably strong countries that will only get more powerful in our region.

We need World Wars, and Genocide???

FFS u can tell the ppl who write such crap in the comfort of there bedrooms on there PC's would be exactly the last PPL u would want to have beside u in the trenches... And the first to throw the towel in.

I mean where the fuck is the respect to our former and current members of the armed services.

For all those prepared to say something so stupid I suggest they ASAP google the word: "Post Traumatic Stress" - Cos that is the reality of War to varying degrees for the vast majority of PPL involved not "Call of Duty" heroics.

1. Australia's Military budget is already 5 times that of our foreign aid. Cutting foreign aid for military spending, is hardly going to allow for a "greatly expanded military"

2. We already have a well developed military. Our military spending puts us in the top dozen countries on earth.

3. There is no country on this planet that is capable of mounting a successful invasion of Australia as it is, apart from the United States. So WTF do we even need a larger military for?

You're taking a bullshit hypothetical 'WW3 is going to happen' forum discussion way too seriously. I thought it was pretty clear stryder was just talking shit.

End of the day, globalisation has eliminated most of the need for war, not too mention the nuclear weapons deterrent. So until there are effective anti-nuke defences, there is a nation or group of nations strong enough to to have a chance against the US and it's allies, and the gains from war outweigh the trillions of dollars that would be lost in the event of a world war, I think we're safe.

So that pretty much eliminates any chance of a world war in at least a few decades.

Even if there is a WW3, it won't involve trenches. A nation could be brought to its knees through cyber warfare, and most the actual fighting would be undertaken by unmaned vehicles. So it actually wouldn't be too far from playing a video game
