sheepdog
Mini mass! Good to see old hellas boy. No frills footballer plays his role and does what is needed. Good experienced player and not too old
Melburnian
Mass is a good guy and a good player. Don't know about starting calibre player every week but we had M Thompson start for us every week so this is an improvement. Good to see a Melbourne lad come home. And hopefully his leadership and experience adds something to our squad next season. Like the signings of Iain Ramsay and Mass Murdocca. Energy, pace and creativity. Something we have lacked. Melburnian
He must be good if he gets your endorsement Melburnian! Or maybe it's finally a good decision JW. Not many of them at this club. No point being negative for negatives sake, but what I post is what I feel and I won't apologise for that. Known Mass for a very long time. Through friends have kept a very close interest in him since he started. I have said I'm not sure what level we will get to with him as a starter every week but like his influence and qualities on and off the pitch. Good a league signing and finally a Melbourne boy coming home.

heart_fan10
an important point made by melburnian is that our signings in Ramsay and Murdocca bring ENERGY to the team which we lacked last season. One of the best things about watching melbourne heart in our first 2 seasons was the energy from players such as behich, dugandzic, zahra, germano, etc... and the way those players buzzed around the field, playing positive football. Hopefully signings like these indicate what sort of players we want and are going to sign!
Murfy1
I would be pretty pleased with Murdocca. He has played many games in arguably the A-League's most successful midfield. He would be a big step up from all the other midfielders Heart has played.  Also, I see no real reason why Heart wouldn't still be looking for a defensive midfielder in Europe when Aloisi travels there. Murdocca and an a European DM would go a long way to making our midfield real competitive by A-League standards.

MaliMate
Will never forget when this mug scored his only ever goal for South against Knights in a derby late in the game to win it. Celebrated right in my face (I think I was about 12 years old), cunt. I do rate him though. Has good speed, good on the ball. Defensively sound. Good pickup. Well in Heart HQ. biancorosso7
In respect of a 2nd GK, I've heard the name Lewis Italiano being suggested. I assume this is the same guy that was on the Perth roster.  He apparently was snapped up by Oakleigh, and they shafted a guy called Griffin McMaster, who was on the Wellington roster for a short period.  Do either of these guys take any interest for the spot behind Redders? He may not even want Garcia.  Murdocca is a good player but we have enough players who can't score without adding another  I think by looking at our squad, we've got quite a few who have the capability score goals (williams, dugandzic, kalmar, mebrahtu, macallister, garcia if he re-signs)  sometimes it's not about having players who can score, but having the right group of players around them, and system in place to score goals. When solorzano was at brisbane a couple of years back, he was scoring plenty of goals, and then he came to melbourne victory the year after and didn't even score 1 for memory because the players around him were shit.   Like his days at brisbane, especially when they were successful, murdocca won't score many goals. But what he does bring is good ball movement, good decision making, and good support which all come together to give the players i listed above the best opportunity possible to score those goals. mus-28
Can see Alistair Bray getting the back-up keeper gig. He's keeping Webster out of the line-up at Bentleigh Greens atm. Pretty good effort considering Webster was signed from Dandy having won the VPL last season.

biancorosso7
Sounds good re: Bray. Gives the NYL guys the hope to see the progression through the system if they work hard enough and merit it.
Tommykins
Kinda dumb question, is it possible (both logistically and within the rule of the A-League) for a player to play youth games and sit on the bench for the Seniors? Ideally you'd want Bray getting as much game time as possible at this stage.
Deluka
Pretty sure Velaphi did that a few times with the MVC youth team

Ideally you'd want Bray getting as much game time as possible at this stage. Â Â Pretty sure Velaphi did that a few times with the MVC youth team It's possible if the fixtures of the NYL and A-League are co-ordinated, but that isn't always the case. Â It's always seemed to me that the position of the 'reserve GK' should be looked at closely. Obviously there has to be one, and someone of quality on the A-League bench. However, someone sitting there for the whole season is not good for the player or club.

I agree with all that you've said, however all things being equal, we'd all prefer someone with his midfield abilities who can also score 5 or 6 goals a season over someone who will likely score zero goals. As you say the balance and abilities of the whole team is important rather than focusing on one individual
