The bloke couldn't string two sentences together without the help of an auto-cue, and even then he wasn't very good at it! What on earth makes you believe HE predicted anything? Not sticking up for Bush in any, but if decide how good a PM/leader is on how good a public speaker they are then you are only ever gonna get retards as leaders. And by using that argument you would then have to conclude that Hitler was one of the greatest leaders in modern history...... One of Australia's most successful PMs was a horrible public speaker. Horrific human obviously, but Hitler was a good leader... Haha. I was actually going to say the same thing. If he wasnt a complete psychopath who was hell bent on killing everyone, I would love to have a PM like that! Hitler was a complete monster, but he did kind of fix Germany after World War 1. Granted he fucked all of that good work up, but still. Actually this is a bit of myth... Most Historians say that Hitler's famed economic measures were very shortsighted and about to ran afoul but the war prevented this from occurring. PPL tend overestimate Hitler's intelligence (The films don't help) but the bloke was not the brightest... I mean the guy flunked Art School and studied was a Napoleon Buff who studied the Emperor at length but then still made the same mistakes that brought him down to a tee. In fact FWIW George W Bush actually has a higher IQ than what is the general consensus of what PPL believe Hitlers IQ was... I am not calling Bush a great or smart president but I do think it's kind of weird that a lot of the Left seem to even hate him even more than Hitler... who knows maybe it's Hitlers bizarre facial hair. Oh of course, I am just saying that his economic measures did help bring Germany out of its post-war slump to some degree. I don't like Bush, I think he did a fair few stupid things, but even I am not asinine enough to claim he was worse than Hitler. In fact, anybody who accuses a politician of being a nazi or worse than Hitler is an idiot. It is probably the facial hair. It seems as though to be a certified Marxist you need a beard or moustache. He obviously wouldn't have gotten to where he was if he was a moron, but thatr's still a fair bit more intelligent than I would have expected.144, now that's more of an impressive IQ, probably like top 0.5% (since 145 would be top 0.35%) but I've never really had any opinion on Tony Hawk's intelligence (really don't know anything about him except the obvious that he is one of the GOAT skaters) so I don't find that more surprising than George W. Nate
I think I worded my sentiments a little poorly. We are making ourselves a bigger target but I think we're at a point where that increase is minuscule in comparison to the threat which already exists and as a result, sitting on our hands doing nothing is the worst action we could take in my view. All of us would have probably been dead before even the US came under attack if they hadn't meddled in the middle east for decades. Would just be Sunni vs Shia for 100 years with neither winning, and by the time one won they'd take another 50 years to put themselves in a position to attack a Western country. We're getting as bad as the Americans in thinking the world revolves around us, even after everything IS are still more interested in killing Shias than Westerners. Tesla
To clarify, we are talking about religious extremists who want to wipe out anyone who doesn't agree with their beliefs. So yes, Christians, atheists, etc. all would be targets eventually but it's pretty clear where the priorities of Muslim terrorists have always lied, other branches of islam and jews/israel. So for anyone to say even the US was under eminent threat before it got itself involved in the middle east, supplying chemical weapons and what not, is a stretch. I'm not saying they were wrong to (apart from the chemicals weapon art - that was wrong), that's a whole different discussion, they were trying to prevent soviet influence spreading etc., but that's what made them more of a target. As for Australia, I really doubt any terrorists gave a fuck about us before Afghanistan. I remember when we joined that war, Al Qaeda literally were laughing at us like "who the fuck is Australia?". Of course, now we certainly are a target, and our involvement in this new conflict will only make us a bigger target. As I've said previously, that doesn't mean we shouldn't be involved, but people need to understand that's part of the cost of us getting involved in these conflicts. They make us a bigger target. In my opinion, furthering our alliance with the US, preventing a state of extremists from emerging, protecting minorities under threat of genocide, etc. are worth the extra risk. HeartFc
Make no mistake, despite it being on foreign soil that Bomb in Bali was targeting Australians. Al Qaeda did not ignore us and those fucks planning the MCG bomb were very close to killing a fuck load of people too. Its only a matter of time before something does happen and unfortunately its the moderate Muslim community are the ones who will cop it from the backlash. Im talking the burning down of mosques, violent protests etc. (most likely in Sydney ei. Cronulla riots) Its up to leaders of the Islamic groups to take a stand and call for the deportation of anyone who supports any terrorist organisation in any form. Unfortunately I cant see that happening. Just look at the conflict in Israel for example... thousands of muslims and lefties marched in protest against the murder of Muslims in Palestine across this country in the past months, fair enough they voiced their opinion... however ISIS killed 10 times the amount of Muslims in 1 week... Tumbleweed on the streets of Melbourne and Sydney. In fact more Muslims protested the Muhammed cartoons and silly Islamic movie than the slaughter of Muslims, Christians and Jews across the middle east at the hands of ISIS. I hear a lot of Muslims constantly say that ISIS does not represent them or their beliefs, which I agree with of course, but isn't that a HUGE reason to hate ISIS more than any Jew, American or a Danish Cartoonist. Apparently not. Some would say hey why aren't you protesting against pedo priests you being brought up catholic and all. Well thats the thing, catholics have pretty thick skin and tend to ignore most of the mockery aimed at them. We don't protest when jesus made fun of, nor do they threaten people with violence... Well not since the 70's. I don't go to church nor do I believe in all the rules imposed by the church, however catholic tradition will always play some part in my life so I don't see myself any different to a Muslim who says their faith is strong therefor the have more of a right to be offended. I have 3 or 4 Muslim mates who agree with me 100% and 1 that doesn't talk to me anymore (A few years back I said Muhammed should be allowed to be made fun of just as much as Jesus/virgin mary, coz thats what a democratic society is all about.) 4/5 is a pretty good ratio and I know 99% of muslims walking our streets are completely harmless. However it only takes the 1% to fuck it up for everyone. I thought the BBQ held in Lakemba last week was a great idea, brining muslim aussies and everyone else together in a celebration of this country is what its all about. If they had one in Melbourne id go, (manly coz I live middle eastern food). If the Muslim community step it up and start stamping out the bad apples there will be no need for terror alerts and we'll all be able to enjoy ourselves without worrying about Bali 2.0 or MCG 1.0 (almost). Fact is many of them have come to Australia to avoid being victims of target killings and other persecution at the hands of extremists.Like you, I am worried about the path we are heading down. What's amazing about Australia is how peacefully different cultures can live together. Do people realise how fucking rare that is in the world? How many places in the world can match Australia in this regard? I'm struggling to think of any, maybe some of the Scandanavian countries? Certainly not the US or Western Europe. Maybe Canada? But with the continuous fear mongering from the media and the government (that isn't a fucking conspiracy, just the simple facts that by spreading fear the media companies make greater profits, and by spreading fear government gain popularity, so of course they're going to do it) I can see how the views of our society are changing and I really don't think we are far away from violence and riots and all that BS.What hope does humanity have when even in one of the most multicultural and peaceful countries, cunts still can't live in peace? I guess I'll be proven right for all the times I've said that we're just fucking mindless animals driven by fear and urges. Maybe some terrorist cunt blowing us all away won't be the worst thing that could happen Edited September 16, 2014 by Tesla
Tesla
An IQ number is not really a true test of intelligence anyway. Or is that just something people with low IQs say to make themselves feel better about having a low IQ? An IQ is first and foremost a measure of your ability to take an IQ test. However, I think it is also an excellent measure of intelligence. Where things get interesting though, is that intelligence is not the same as being smart. I consider smartness to be made up of a few things, intelligence is one of them, but there are others like knowledge. Someone can be very smart without being particularly intelligent, for example if they spend a lot of time reading and learning things and accumulating knowledge. I see intelligence as sort of like your brain's 'raw processing power'. I think intelligence leads to quicker learning, and therefore quicker knowledge accumulation. So it's quite hard to not be smart if you're intelligent. There are also some areas where I don't think someone can ever develop strong skills or a strong understanding without intelligence, regardless of how much time they spend learning, the obvious field being math, and anything that requires similar thinking patterns. I think intelligence and mathematic ability are closely linked. I don't see how you can be intelligent but not good at math. However, you can certainly be smart and not good at math. Intelligence can't be taught. I'd say it can be developed through exercising your mind though. Those are my thoughts on the concept on intelligence. Maybe I'm wrong. Regardless, I'd still say 'smart' and 'intelligent' are different concepts, and people who disregard IQs, maybe do so because they think intelligent is a synonym for smart. Usually if you have the latter you will have (or at least will have the potential to have) the former.
MaliMate
I've always been above average at Maths but would consider myself more knowledgable than intelligent. Fwiw, just googled the word knowledgeable and it came up with "intelligent and well informed"
KSK_47
I've always been above average at Maths but would consider myself more knowledgable than intelligent. Fwiw, just googled the word knowledgeable and it came up with "intelligent and well informed" I would definitely not put myself in the knowledgeable category. Not only do I find things that have an equation extremely boring (finding things interesting/relevant is a key factor when it comes to learning), I also have a lot of trouble retaining dates and names. I would say that is a result of a misspent youth, haha. But we are getting off topic here. Domestic politics- another thing I find very boring. I'm really good with remembering things (as long as they didn't happen 10 seconds ago, dem stoner feels) Just unfortunate that so much of it is useless information (Capital cities, who scored in what match years ago, names of classmates etc)

That reminds me of how Dutchy turned away from the game last season to say something... at the exact moment Orlando scored from halfway. KSK_47
Ouch! Or when we would score every time Alo would go to the toilet including both of Thompsons goals in the derby, haha
cadete
Ouch! Or when we would score every time Alo would go to the toilet including both of Thompsons goals in the derby, haha LOL - The Irish Author Roddy Doyle used to do this as deliberate tactic during Republic games. At Borough games I also used to try back in my smoking days Nick Hornby's tactic of "Smoking In" goals...

I agree that the timing could possibly be a bit dubious, but the fact is that it shouldn't matter. The cops have arrested a large amount of would be murderers, and people are getting pissed off about it. Just saying that I reckon politicians and authorities would have been making sure this could get the best possible exposure before they carried it out. You know, cover themselves in glory and all.
HeartFc
Saw on Facebook that there's an anti government protest planned in Lakemba tonight in response to the new anti terror laws and the raids this morning. Once again instead of protesting against the terrorists who make them look bad, a moderate muslim group has decided the best way about it is to add fuel to the fire. Shit is really gonna hit the fan soon. cronulla 2.0 isn't far away.
