  1. To everyone involved in this, you can hold your heads very high regardless of the Sheik's ultimate decision. I don't think I've even been prouder to be a supporter of this club alongside you all. Can't wait until Saturday when we all unite as one under the red and white. True until I die! #KeepTheRedAndWhite

  3. Not sure if there's any boxing fans on here but there's some cracking fights coming up in the next 6 weeks. Bradley/Pacquiao II this weekend, Mayweather Jr/Maidana on 3rd May with Khan/Collazo on the undercard. Froch/Groves II on 31st May which will be one of the biggest British boxing fights in recent history. Pac needs to win by KO after last time or people will be calling for him to retire imo.

It's a fact in life that you don't always get the number one target on whatever list you are looking at, but that doesn't mean that you have no respect for those further down the list. The blonde in the Blue Dress had a footballer boyfriend so the Sheikh went after the chick in Red instead... He will find out tomorrow that chick in red dress isn't easy and won't just bend over for him without a fight chicks in red dresses are always easy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3T1c7GkzRQQ&list=PLDD05A99D784D379F

  7. Incredible work FB. I hope that my comments have not come across as me being against this campaign, because I am certainly not. Either way regardless of our difference in opinions on this issue, I applaud your (and others) efforts. Truly remarkable. Well done mate. No, not at all mate. You know I've never been one to let things mentioned on the forum be carried over into real life. I know where you stand on the issue and understand your position. As I think I've said elsewhere, at the end of the day, regardless of whether you are In or Out, pro takeover or anti takeover, ambivalent or passionate about the colour issue, 95% of us would probably prefer that the colours were kept. And that's all the campaign is about. I know some of us might care more than others about the colours remaining, and that's fine, but those differences shouldn't be the focus. It's the common ground that we share in supporting a Red and White team that is the focus for Saturday. In all honesty I've done very little since this started, besides putting the order in for the placards.it has been a massive group effort, everyone should be congratulated on what we've achieved so far.

  8. For me I don't care that we as a club have few extra billion dollars compared to other clubs, especially in a salary capped league. A fool and his money are soon parted. It's the know how of the city group that's the real asset here (hopefully).

  9. Mundine has no options left after last night. I heard from a mate who works in the Sports Journo biz that he only sold 45 pay per views for last night's fight and lost heaps on the purse at an empty stadium. For those who didn't catch it, Clottey knocked Mundine down 5 times (good effort to keep getting back up btw) and lost unanimously on points. I'm sorry but its the bloke's own fault. Who comes down two divisions at 38years of age? Fuck me. He can stop talking about Cotto and Alvarez and those guys now and if he mentions Mayweathers name somebody needs to euthanise him. Its sad as if this bloke had of kept his mouth shut and been better advised over his career in terms of fight matching and marketing he would have been remembered as one of Australia's greats and that's coming from a Choc-Hater btw. Article on the fight last night here btw. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/boxing-mma/anthony-mundine-suffers-unanimous-points-decision-loss-to-joshua-clottey-in-gutsy-performance/story-fni2fnkz-1226879266593

  19. Sheikh Mansour only bought MCFC after being knocked back from Newcastle United and Everton. Doesn't change the fact that he and Khaldoon (our Chairman) have always treated City with the greatest respect. This is not true, they bought City mainly because of the stadium and ability to extend it and cost of purchase along with how little debt the club had. (zero now) along with an already huge match going fan base and the location with Manchester being the 2nd capital, they looked at other clubs as any good business men would but decided City was the best option with the biggest potential, City also still hold the attendance record of 84,569

  22. We could be just incredibly paranoid and might realise that a change of colour was taken off the table the moment they realised that Melbourne City is red and white. I'm just hoping we're blowing this out of proportion and we'll find that Melbourne City "The Heart" FC next season will be wearing Red & White stripes :-)

  25. What really surprises me about all this as Man City seem to be behaving contrary to everything we know about them on this issue. Ok we know they don't like to use the media and that fits, but: all the Man City faithful kept saying how big they are on consultation, yet they have done virtually none on this pivotal issue. Man City faithful assure us they "say what they do then do what they say", they SAID they'd consult, but haven't started yet and its almost the end of the season. All the announcements in the beginning were so pro-football and free of marketing bull, it was a breathe of fresh air. Changing jerseys is ALL marketing bull and nothing about football, yet they seem to be contemplating it. Typically their announcements are so, well, SENSIBLE. Take the proposed tour, canned because the fans will only want to see Aguero, Yaya Toure and Silva etc, regardless of the talents of the "no -names" They don't have a reputation for riding roughshod over supporters in Manchester

  26. Oh God, I don't think there's anything worse than one sportsperson talking about another sportsperson - except perhaps those TV shows where the "celebrity" panelists all laugh at each others' "jokes." I hope one day the A-League is mature enough that we actually get real news.

  28. Unfortunately - but completely understandably - debates on such things as colours do tend to become polarised, and people who mention or propose the possibility of compromise tend to be ridiculed. If compromise is considered on this issue there are many different possibilities that could incorporate the three colours; blue shorts and socks is one of them. I'm all in favour of retaining our present colours, but in fact I think we could actually finish up with a really great kit if we did have to end up with a compromise. New York is different because it's a start-up club, but if CFG take control of any more existing clubs with existing colours, then what they do - if anything - with Heart could serve as a model for those clubs as well. I have no issue with compromise, but it needs to done in the proper meaning of the word, in consolation with the members/supporters. I won't go into detail because it will just inflame passions all over again, but I reckon the simplest and best way forward is to leave the colours alone for the time being. Let the new order settle in for a season or two, get some results on the board, and then for CFG to come to the supporters looking for a way of recognising that we are one of a family of clubs whilst visibly retaining our identity and heritage. There's always a way if you look for it. I've been involved in industrial relations disputes where tempers were high and insults were flying. Once everyone settled down and actually looked for a way forward then there always was one and no-one lost face. Agree to that. Hopefully if the new owners start talking to the existing fans a lot of the heat will be taken out of this issue. Right now the silence is just fuel on the fire.

  32. It's starting to piss me off that we don't definitely know whether Saturday will be his last game with us or not. Whilst it would be good if we could keep him in the cap, if that's not possible then we should give him a decent send off too. The fact he stuck around after a potentially career ending injury and willed himself through all that rehab deserves respect and praise. If he's leaving it shouldn't be all about Harry. I'm worried OE's contribution will get lost in all the hype.

  36. Yeah pretty much spot on. People has bypassed Tecoma on their way through the hills as it had pretty much nothing except the local hippy hotspot which was a monstrosity of a building.. Will help the other business around the area. May be some extra traffic congestion but it's always been like that as it's one lane through the town all coming from Burwood Highway. Amazing that there's people attributing this merely to Maccas. These people are slowly fucking off the with the rain coming so that's all fine by me. Bring on winter I say But as the Left say... :droy:

  37. Totally agree with jw and fingman. I just don't find Heart understands the words "fan engagement" or promotion even tho there are people in the organisation whose job it is to deliver this. Publicity of events, secondary entertainment on the day and general communication is at best poor. Even if HK doesn't play on Saturday this was a great opportunity to whip up some hype. With their experience and undoubted professionalism I am expecting MCFC to bring more enthusiasm to this area, actually listen to the fans and deliver ENGAGEMENT.

  38. It does sound as if you will be a lot stronger than this season when all players are signed. Also agree with those that say that pre-season training should improve the skills of a few players already in the squad. As I have previously said I would love to see Jordy Hiwula at Melbourne. He needs to work in a few aspects of his game, but he is a natural goalscorer who could really light up the A League

  39. Might happen. Been a pretty ordinary season and Hoff has been one of our most consistent. The blokes who've starred generally haven't played many games, whilst the blokes who played a lot of games have also had some horrible moments. Personally I admire the Hoff for his professionalism, work rate and persistance. He has made it in the A league when so many on here were seemingly suggesting SL2. OK, we all know there are better footballers, but the lad has put in to get what he has, on the back of not much talent. I'm not a huge fan, but I give credit where its due.

  42. I also think that JVS has been pretty unfairly criticised. Here's the league table for games played since round 13 (when JVS took over): Brisbane Roar 25 Adelaide United 25 Melbourne Heart 22 Central Coast Mariners 20 Victory 19 Wellington Phoenix 18 Sydney FC 18 WSW 16 Newcastle Jets 15 Perth Glory 15 Also, Heart has scored 25 goals, has conceded 17, and has a healthy goal difference of +8. The problem for Heart is that Heart only picked up 4 points out of a possible 36, during the first 12 matches of the season when Aloisi was in charge. If Heart picked up points over those 12 games as often as Heart has picked up points over the past 14 games (which is slightly better than 1.5 points per match on average), then Heart would be 2nd! So even though the most recent of matches have been rather disappointing, make no mistake about why Heart is finishing down the bottom end of the ladder. It is because of Aloisi's gross mismanagement, guiding the team to a pathetic tally of 4 points over the first 12 matches, which left Heart 10 points adrift of 9th place. The fact is Heart's season was effectively over by the time Aloisi lost to Wellington in round 12 at AAMI, and it's been truly remarkable that JVS has been able to take a team rooted at the bottom of the ladder, and who's confidence was completely shattered, and achieve what he did. Surprisingly since JVS took over, we've been able to enjoy several wins, some spells of good football and the biggest ever derby win, when most thought that Heart would just roll along as the whipping boys for the remainder of the season. So the coaching is fine, and JVS has done pretty well with a pretty bad hand. Now parts of the squad just have to be strengthened for next season, and then we'll hopefully have both good coaching and a good squad (for once).

  43. I'm sure they exist somewhere but I've never seen you post something positive about MHFC. Why so critical? I think there's merit in your opinion here but not entirely, I think it depends on the player(s) I find it hard to be positive about Kewell's influence on the club, he was supposed to bring so many improvements to the club but delivered on none of them. He was meant to be the missing link in our formation, help push us towards the title, bring crowd numbers up and bring the MHFC brand into the mainstream media. I think its pretty safe to say that he has not succeeded in any of these areas, saying that, its not all his fault but he and JA were the 2 biggest issues this season. Who said he was supposed to do all this? He was hardly one of the team's "biggest" issues. Misfud's failure and Engelaar's injury each probably had as much if not more influence on the team's results than Kewell's injury.
