Because Richmond don't have a proper clash kit, Port are forced to wear their away kit. Now they have the nod to wear their prison bar kit.

The logical solution is lying with the VFL side...

Should just use their training kit.

Even better they should just have a Final Five so that meaningless finals don't even have to be played anymore.

If we played a final five, there would've been just about zero supporter interest for 13 clubs throughout the second half of the season.

At least the top 8 keeps things interesting all the way through the season, even if 5th to 8th barely impact in the finals series.

The Top Eight is stupid and has always been stupid as it just depreciates the value of the Season when a side can win just over 50% of their games and make the finals.

When you have 18 sides in the Competition - The "It makes things interesting" line does not really stack up like it does for the A-League.

Also at least in the NRL or the A-League with their Final Systems that a certain amount of prestige is associated to finishing top whereas in AFL nobody cares at all about the Minor Premiership. If they brought back the Top Five then we would have a return of the best working Finals system that rewards the Minor Premier for finishing top (As they should be) and still lasts four weeks with no pointless matches in the whole six games series.

Suddenly the actual Season itself would actually mean a lot more and sides would not "Manage" their players so much throughout it as they would need to try there hardest to gain as many points as possible rather than plan their Season around making the Top Four if they are a Top Side.

Usually half sides that scrape in to the Elimination Finals almost always are just wasted a lot of energy on nothing that could be spent elsewhere.

Half the time they are sides that should be really focusing on rebuilding rather than pointless finals and scraping into finals only makes their rebuild take longer like what happened with Essendon in the Mid to Late 2000's as they slowly faded from finals.

The other half who tend to scrape in which Top Eight fans and AFL spokesmen tend to focus on are the up and coming sides who PPL say "Need the Finals Experience". The reality is that comparing an Elimination Final to Prelim Final is like comparing a "Listed Country Cup" to a "WFA Group One" the two are miles apart and any experience gained from losing a Elimination Finals has nothing to do with competing in a Preliminary Final.

I realised the above when the up and coming Geelong side meet Brisbane in the 2004 Preliminary Final... it was another world to the finals prior to it.

I agree in principle but the AFL is a competition which thrives on hype (just look at Richmond's run) and having the top 8 works better than a top 5 in that regard as the home & away season would pretty much have been done and dusted by about Round 12 this year.

More needs to be done to reward the minor premier though, I 100% agree with you there.

A lot to like about that post, however, on reflection, I am not a fan of the final 5.  I think it actively disadvantaged the minor premiers, as with a bye first week, if they won next week (which was likely, given they were the best team all season), they would find themselves in the grand final having only played once in 3 weeks.  Inevitably, they then lost.

Anyway we all know the real reason for a final 8.  More games = more revenue.  At least 8/18 is better than 8/16.

Really?

Think about how media interest and interest in the general public has been generated due to the battle between 5 teams over the last place in the 8, particularly think about the interest in the tiges. Yeah, sure neither us or any of the other teams positioned between 5-8 are gonna do any damage in the finals but with the top 4 already pretty much settled by round 20 imagine how much interest would be lost in the end of the season.

Even though its probably not gonna mean anything in a months time, I'm looking forward to heading over to the portress and seeing the boys give it a crack

go tiges.

Mentioned while watching last night that Stanton was pretty much non-existent, but he wasn't the only one that went missing in the second half. Dempsey was a massive disappointment too. Sat on the bench for almost 3 quarters, but barely raised a sweat after he came on. Should be ashamed of his lack of effort!

Essendon football club= soft as shit.

Up by 6 goals and chocked big time, still don't understand why ambrose was playing, watching us constantly kick the ball up forward to fucking nobody was embarrassing.

In better news, was able to get some free beers last night, so not all was lost
