jw1739
TTIM: All the hoo-ha over the Barnaby Joyce affair. So, a 24-y-o marriage runs into trouble and a guy's head is turned by another woman? Happens to plenty of people, and there are quite a few more who wish it could happen to them too. Some of the people throwing stones want to check their own glasshouses first. As for these women who are "enraged" by it all - what a bunch of hypocrites they are.

I have actually preferred Joyce's style of Politics to a lot of other MP's over the years but he made a lot comments about his belief in "The Family Unit" being the chief reason why he opposed Same Sex Marriage. I have nothing against anybody holding such a view (albeit it was not mine) but obviously some people for which the plebiscite directly effected them or their family members are probably within their right point out the hypocrisy in these statements if they wish now the story was finally has been reported to them. Also a lot People in Australia (Like Joyce himself proclaimed to be) are strong believers in the trust and respect and commitment elements of monogamist relationships and in particular when a marriage is concerned. Stats alone show a lot of these PPL dont live in glasshouses either and some of them of have had to experience their own relationships being destroyed by their own partners unfaithfulness as the major factor... I know if I was a Single Mother because my Ex Husband ran off on me with a younger lady despite my own faithfulness and commitment to him then I would find it pretty hard not to detest Barnaby Joyce ATM. Tesla
24 years isn't a bad run for a marriage in this day and age tbh, shit happens, personally I wouldn't hold it against him. But he chose to play the game of the 'family unit' and 'traditional marriage' and what not, so now of course he is going to suffer the consequences of his hypocrisy.

I didn't listen to much of what other people said in the debate, but I understand that he did actually say, during the debate, that he was separated from his wife. Anyway, my main point is that IMO people are going overboard on this issue. It happens to quite a few marriages, in workplaces, at conferences and training courses etc. etc. It's just the way people are.

Theres a way to do it and a way not to do it. If you're not happy with your marriage, don't be a pussy ass bitch and cheat, just tell your partner you're not happy and leave. Hes also a government elected official representing the people, not some football player getting paid millions by a privately owned club. A better moral standard is expected out of him because of this, regardless of how good he is at his job. I would agree that politicians personal lives don't matter and all the really matters is how well they do their job, if politicians got their jobs based on their ability. But that's not how it works. It's basically a big popularity contest, and so their personal lives are relevant.

FMD I see where you are coming from , but working in government is different to any other jobs. He's working in a field in which he is elected by people, and is required to represent the values of the people of his electorate as well as help govern the country (Yes I know that this is a grade 3 thing to say but IDGAF i believe it). I don't think being a bitch and cheating on your wife is one of them lol. The bloke is also going to be in the public eye so much more then Joe the local mechanic, so is it really a surprise that he is being scrutinised the way is? Do you really want people like Barnaby Joyce, or that other flog politician who used tax payers money to buy porn and hookers to represent your country? As harsh as the media has been on him, politicians are held to a higher standard then most jobs and should be scrutinised more. Also, the fact as Det said that he was so against the gay marriage vote and kept talking about the 'sanctity' of marriage makes the whole thing so much sweeter. Karma's a bitch when you're a pussy ass bitch. What a hypocrite. 1 hour ago, thisphantomfortress said: Humans are inherently contradictory, we're all hypocrites. NOTE: Also I cant be bothered reading back to find the poster but someone mentioned Joyce being a Good Bloke - This is true, he is well liked by as you can be on both sides of Parliament and with the media and this was why it took so long for what everybody knew to finally make it to print.
