jw1739
As mentioned in another thread, Gerard Nus is no longer listed on the Heart web-site. Do we read this as indicating we are going to appoint someone else, and if so who do we think it might be? Someone from City perhaps? Dylan
He will probably have a couple of assistants and a technical director. Also have taken off Gerhardt and Kewell from the website Edited May 5, 2014 by Dylan
Murfy1
I would be pretty surprised if there weren't a few staff changes. I would personally like for Nus to stay. He's a specialist when it comes to warm ups and training, so I think it would be useful to have him on the coaching staff. At the same time I would like for Heart to have one or more new assistant coach/es with excellent pedigree (what's Jesper Olsen up to? I wouldn't remind him returning to the club). I think Heart should grow like Brisbane, who are working hard to expand their football department, and especially their coaching department: Brisbane general manager Sean Dobson said the dialogue between club and coach was ongoing, as was the planning for a football department that he believes will be the envy of every other A-League franchise. "A big part of what we’re doing is how do we expand our coaching roster," Dobson said. "A-League clubs have one head coach, one assistant and a conditioner. Why not have a specialist video analyst? Why not have a technical coach? Why have an old-school European coach? Why not expand that coaching repertoire from one to two or three or four? "There are no restrictions on what A-League clubs can spend on their coaching staff. It’s those sort of conversations that get Mike excited at the same time. We’re trying to forge a bigger path in Australian football." http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/queensland/player-managers-tout-strikers-as-brisbane-roar-seek-to-secure-coach-mike-mulvey-20140502-37nef.html So for me, keep Nus as an assistant (maybe as training and warm up specialist), bring in a coach with good pedigree (perhaps with lots of European experience), get a video analysis specialist and if such thing exists get an assist coach that specialises in/is good at teaching players to finish (maybe a former European striker)! I'd also like a new goalkeeping coach. If Schwarzer retires at the end of the season, I think he could be an excellent option. Or Heart could just get a seasoned goalkeeping coach. And I'd also like a new NYL/Youth team coach. Heart actually finished 4th in the NYL in 2011/12 under Aloisi (with 26 points, 33 goals for, 30 goals against), whilst under Joe Palatsides Heart finished 6th in 2012/13 (with 25 pts, 32 GF, 34 GA) and 5th this season (with 28 pts, 40 GF, 30 GA). Keep Palatsides as the assist, but bring in a specialist youth coach to the NYL/Youth team head coach. I don't check the Heart website often to know if it's accurate, but TBH I've never found the website too informative, so I wouldn't trust it too much. But I reckon we'll see a shake-up with the club staff.
NewConvert
I agree with expanding the coaching staff but I am curious as to the quality that is available in Oz. Medical/physical staff we should be ok with so I am not sure whether Gus is needed or not but skills staff maybe more difficult to come by. So the club may need to import staff or alternatively select promising options and take them for training at Man City.
Falastur
JW, you might be reading into things a bit much. As you have observed in the past, people seem to drift on and off the Heart website all the time. Then again... Incidentally, when (if?) the name change is announced I'm expecting you all to get a shiny, spanking new website in line with the MCFC and NYCFC websites, and I'm expecting it to be maintained a whole lot better. At that point - if it happens - you will probably be able to tell with much greater reliability whether he's gone or not.

They will have the 'one-size fits all' design the rest of the league had when they officially start their first campaign. Likewise, we have a 'cookie cutter' design for our league too. Baresi
There will be no new website. The template is organised by Optus and The FFA, and all clubs have to stick with it. In the past, clubs have had two websites (FFA one, and club one) but they aren't allowed to do that anymore either.

Also, I think we had a pretty good NYL in the first season, as the club scouted hundreds of players across Australia for the NYL team. My point was more that Palatsides hasn't exactly set the world on fire as the youth coach, and that it's probably worthwhile to get a new NYL coach, and maybe keep Palatsides as an assistant. Tommykins
Sharpy News! I imagine that the club will have a significantly higher budget to create a pretty impressive backroom staff. I wouldn't be entirely surprised if JVS tried to bring someone in from his old Ajax days, Rob Witschge, etc. I'd like to see a local coach involved too (as would the Man City group would too, I'd think), a Mark Rudan, perhaps? Shahanga
NYL is about more than just league position. A lot easier to win games if you stack your team with fringe players from the seniors for instance (Mifsud virtually murdered the poor suckers he came up against) but that does nothing for your youth team. Hard to know what Joe was like unless you were around at training and watching with a discerning eye. Also not sure what Joe's role was in regards to scouting or how he went. Going forward would like to see Aussies involved, even if a foreigner was in there somewhere. We need to provide a career path for budding coaches.
