Hoff as captain #Hoffmiliation

Did we have an extra man on the pitch? Where?

Very poor second half.

Our positioning and short passing is terrible.

Our movement off the ball in the second half was poor.

Our intensity was poor.

Velaphi wasn't great but saw nothing to replace him with Redmayne.

Hoff for socceroos captain.

Well you have always been a supporter of the Hoff! :P I've just always been realistic and seen him as being not as bad as people make him out to be!

Are you ready to concede that view after tonight's performance? I mean, a captain shouldn't just be booting the ball out to anywhere and nowhere at the first sign of pressure!

His first touch is terrible, he can't cross, his mentality is to first turn around and play it backwards as opposed to continue the attack, I could go on and on where his game lacks a justification for another 2 year extension!

Honestly, what the fcuk is this club going to do to get people to sign up as members for next season??? That was just piss poor and we've resigned some of these clowns.

Is JVS having a lend of us by giving the Hoff the captaincy??

I have wasted my Friday night with this shit.

Could have watched the following and had a lunch better time:
- Aussies T20

- Rebels beating the top placed Brumbies

- Dons and Hawks flogging it out.

- Station close on ABC3

All much more enjoyable and worthy of my time than subjecting myself to the torture of watching the heart dish out that utter shite.

Well that was absolute shit. Same shit, different week. Last 4 games, exact same things.

- Can't break opposition down.

- When we do get chances, we fuck them up horribly.

- Concede cheap goals

On a side note, the ref is an absolute spastic. We should've had a pen, Berisha shouldn't have gotten a red. Oh and that clean tackle from Wielaert that got him a yellow card.

His first touch is terrible, he can't cross, his mentality is to first turn around and play it backwards as opposed to continue the attack, I could go on and on where his game lacks a justification for another 2 year extension! Ok firstly in all seriousness he is not the true captain, he never was and taking the captaincy arm badge doesn't mean he's going to change his style of play. Secondly I was a bit surprised to see him get a two year extension but it makes sense seeing as we have the salary cap etc.

With regards to him passing backwards, I don't know if he's being instructed to do that or not. Maybe he has been instructed to keep possession even if that means keeping possession and passing backwards when the option isn't there. I have always said that he isn't the most potent player going forwards. At training the other day I was on the sideline and Hoffman was doing exactly what he does during the game, looking for an option forward then pass back to weialert when it's not there, and jvs right in front of me complimenting him for the decision.

Regarding him booting the ball out, yeah he did do that and possibly had a better option at times. Some of those positions are dangerous to lose the ball in and a cleared ball is sometimes better. However, I hope you pick up on other players in our defence that are much bigger culprits of this.

In the end he is a solid right back, not the most potent going forward, but does not make many bad mistakes and as far as I can remember hasn't been a sole contributor to us copping a goal the whole season, which can't be said for any player in our defence but him. And I was never a huge fan and still am not but when I see someone getting abused on here for doing a sound job out there I'm gonna say something. Makes me sound like I'm a fan of his but I'm quite indifferent to him to be honest.

We'd have to pass the ball forward with some ball speed to break the opposition down. We slowed the game down in the front third and passed the ball out of promising positions every time. Why?

A match of trademark Heart disappointment.

- Robbed of a penalty in the very first few minutes

- Had enough chances to win the game in the first half, but didn't make the most of a number of good chances. A good reminder that the club released its 3 strikers, and now doesn't have a proper striker

- However, unlike the first half of the season (including the first away game to Brisbane under JA), Heart did score a goal in the opening half from 1 of its many chances

- There was some good possession, including some impressive quick passing, especially in the first half

- But the game changed in the second half. Brisbane lifted their game, and seemed to fight even more when they went down to 10 (like they did against Sydney in Sydney. Brisbane are almost specialists 10 vs 11 now). Also, I really think Heart dropped off when Engelaar was subbed off. I think the team needs big players and/or leaders out there (such as Engelaar or Kewell) to keep the confidence up and play well

- Soft defending. Brisbane scored their first goal from a play that originated from a set piece, and scored with their first shot on goal. And painfully the second goal started from a Heart corner and was scored by a decent counter-attack, aided by sloppy Heart defending, that was defending space and not players

Losing to Brisbane in Brisbane is not so much a disappointment (even 10 vs 11, as Brisbane have completely outclassed other teams, even when they are away from home, 10 vs 11). The performance, especially in the second half was disappointing. The flaws are becoming obvious now, and Heart need to significantly strengthen in the off-season, with at least several new players.

Sorry Niko but he's the Broxham v1.0 of Heart (before Ange taught him how  to pass the ball forward)

Most of this starting 11 will be retained from the sound of it, players like Walker, Mitchinson will be cut loose and replaced, hopefully with some quality. We need a 10 and a 9 most of all

Let's hope the current starting 11 become the second string 11 next season and we get half a dozen new players that can actually trap the ball cleanly and play one touch football.

That's my point I think he's being instructed to pass it backwards if the right option isn't there.

It should also be remembered that for the first half of the season, we all expected and knew that Heart was pretty much going to lose. Under JA, there was nothing but hopelessness. Now under JVS supporters can actually be disappointed when the team loses, even against top teams, even against Brisbane in Brisbane. That's a simple reminder that things have changed.

I agree and pretty much expect this is exactly what will happen. Maybe not for all of the players, but I expect that to happen with a lot of the current players.

Heart finally with a decent AM, We wouldn't recognize ourselves. That should be our marquee signing of considerable quality

I might be way off with this comment but as good as JVS has been for us especially in comparison to the rubbish under JA, it is after losses like these and hearing JVS afterwoods being not too aggitated that I wonder whether he has the grit and hardness to be a silverware winning senior coach. Just pondering and hopefully he'll prove me really wrong.
