RFC56
Beside the Eiffel Tower, Paris. We stayed in a hotel near to this ground several years ago. BTW the building on the left of goal was at the time, the "Paris Hilton" :-)
jw1739
Not football, but I couldn't resist this one. Abandoned spectator area at the site of ski jump at the Calgary Winter Olympics (1988). theresonlyonebzamora
there's a lot of pink in the background so there could have been the game at the G where everyone wheres pink ponchos. also fairly sure it is a concert as you can see the spotlights
Dylan
I had a bit of a look. I think its a render. There is nowhere to take that photo at that angle, showing the east or west side of the stadium. The footbridge runs into the north end and there is nothing like whats in the image on the east and west side, East has Gosch's paddock and the west side has the oval that collingwood train at. Plus if it were that far away and on the west side the Westpac centre would be in the foreground. Oh and the foreground looks like its been cut from the sides of Hisense, they have the same trees and grass/concrete pattern. jw1739
If we forget the foreground for a moment, the view of the stadium is towards the south across Swan Street, so it's the north end of the ground that we are looking at. If it is a photograph, then it was taken before the developments at the Tennis Centre and the construction of the new footbridge across Swan Street to Gate 7 on the western side. Next time I go into the city I'll try and make the time to have a look.On match-day I approach the ground from Richmond station so I don't see this perspective at all. jw1739
"The Dripping Pan", home of Lewes Football Club, Sussex. The ground has been used by Lewes since their inception in 1885, and prior to that was used by the people of Lewes for recreation as far back as at least 1730. A similar view of "The Dripping Pan" in the late 19th century. The arches are still there in the the modernised building. I think I prefer the original!
Duffman
Swiss village side FC Gspon's stadium is the highest in Europe. Built on the only available piece of flat land it is so high that normal cars cant work and the players have to travel up via cable-car.

jw1739
There's a video about this ground here: http://www.whoateallthepies.tv/videos/158058/around-the-grounds-fc-gspons-ottmar-hitzfeld-stadium-the-highest-pitch-in-europe.html It's a 3/4 size pitch. If I interpret that correctly, that means the overall dimensions are 3/4 length and 3/4 width, meaning its area is only 9/16 of a full-sized pitch, i.e. just over half. That would make it easier to play on, perhaps, but nevertheless it must be tough to breathe up there. Gspon has only 585 inhabitants. Looks just about like paradise! Features the world's largest cable-supported retractable roof and has a 55,000 seating capacity which is reduced to 21,000 for Whitecaps games using giant white sheets to close off the upper section.
Woody
Arsenal practice their secret 11-0-0 formation in front of the clock end (1971). This revolutionary tactic earned them the double. Charlie George ever the trendsetter in his Red Hummel boots. Also Alan Ball's white boots were a revolutionary design where the studs ran on a rotating wheel like an old phone dial pad. I think it was during a knee injury layoff period when he conjured up the idea. Edited July 24, 2014 by Woody
