nut bad just don't understand why there is the open end

Makes it easy to expand when they need to. In MLS they want more sellouts and then they'll up the capacity once they think there is demand. Also think it might be easier if they want to host a concert there.

It's estimated to cost US$60m, plus US$7 for land acquisition.

Capacity 18,000.

The Yanks know a bit about building stadiums - don't knock their approach. They concentrate on building something that functions for what it's designed for - hosting football matches. They don't bother with a whole lot of peripheral stuff that is open (maybe) once a fortnight when a match is played.

We could have built four A-League grounds like that for what was paid for AAMI Park.

A ground like that for the Heart would be bloody marvellous. As a matter of fact I'm rather jealous of what MLS clubs have been able to achieve.

COOPERS Stadium's new landlords Adelaide Entertainments Corporation is investing $1 million towards upgrading the ageing venue as part of ongoing renovations which would see the facility eventually become FIFA compliant.

I quote from the article:

'But Kirchner has revealed that the rent has increased for Coopers Stadium's key tenant - Adelaide United - since AEC became the new bosses of the facility on July 1.

Adelaide currently has a one-plus-one year lease in place for the venue.

The club was reportedly charged about $25,000 per match last season.

"There is a slight rental increase," Kirchner said.

"But it is about 50 per cent cheaper than what most other A-League clubs pay for during each season.'

Perhaps not quite "Stadium Porn", but go to http://www.britishpathe.com/search. In the "Search" field put, say, "Football" or "FA Cup" or the name of a particular club and you can watch newsreels of matches from days gone by.

I find these fascinating - the state of the pitches in the depths of a British winter, the players' kits (especially their boots!), the ball, and so on.

And they are something of a social commentary as well.

Some great moments there - e.g. Norwich City's Cup run in 1959.

I remember going to the old Huish ground with its famous slope!

According to Wikipedia the new stadium cost just 3.5m GB pounds in 1990. Capacity 9,500.

And, despite being relatively new, has a bit of character and the intimacy that IMO so many new grounds lack.

Nice!

Perhaps not porn, but interesting. This is Wanderers Oval, the home of Broadmeadow Magic, a local side (supported by the Macedonian community) in Newcastle N.S.W. Not a bad little ground with lots of potential for development. Food for thought for A-League clubs?
