Really don't see how this is going to work financially.

How are regional clubs going to afford travel every week (incl. Junior teams) all over the state + all of the qualified staff they require etc. and be expected to compete. What parent is going to spend $1k+ on rego fees to play for Avondale Heights when there are bigger clubs like Melb Knights, South Melb etc. around?

Anyway just for interests sake + I'm bored

Div 1?:

Bentleigh Greens - Greek Cypriot - VPL

Dandenong Thunder - Albanian - VPL

Green Gully Cavaliers - Maltese - VPL

Heidelberg United - Greek - VPL

Hume City - Turkish - VPL

Melbourne Knights - Croatian - VPL

Northcote City - Greek - VPL

Oakleigh Cannons - Greek - VPL

Pascoe Vale - Italian - VPL

Port Melbourne Sharks - Greek - VPL

South Melbourne - Greek - VPL

Werribee City - Italian - VPL

Richmond - German - State 1

Sunshine George Cross - Maltese - state 1

Moreland Zebras - Italian - State 1

Div 2?:

Box Hill United - Greek (?) - State 1

FC Bulleen Lions - Italian - State 1

St Albans Saints - Croatian - State 1

Springvale White Eagles - Serbian - state 1

Avondale Heights - Italian - state 1

North Geelong Warriors - Croatian - State 2

Brunswick City - Italian - Greek - State 2

Dandenong City - Croatian - state 2

Eastern Lions - None?English? - State 2

Kingston City - Greek - State 2

Whittlesea Ranges - Italian - State 2

Ballarat Red Devils - Aus/none - state 3

Surf Coast - ? - State 4

Bendigo Amateur Soccer League - New

Goulburn Valley Suns - New

The numbers have actually worked out pretty well for the state leagues though. Assuming teams will be pushed up to fill the gaps, every league will now have 12 teams (minus 1 team, so hopefully a Metro team can come up) which is the ideal number so each team plays against each other twice, rather than having 15-16 teams in each State 5.

Pascoe Vale is Macedonian, not Italian.

If Goldburn Valley Suns isn't new it might be Macedonian too given name and that Shepparton has a big Macedonian community. Seems to be some google results so not sure if new.

The Maco cup was held in Goulburn Valley last year at Shepparton Makedonia's home ground. Hopefully an indication that the team may be backed by the Makedonci vo Shepparton.

What's happened to Tornado, MaliMate?

No idea tbh. Are struggling for numbers so merger with Strathmore could be on the cards. Only other thing I can think of is they haven't decided whether we are North or West with our ground change.

Bit weird how half the teams from last season got promoted.

Also don't understand how we're scheduled in the cup but not in a league.

Actually I do understand because it's the FFV.

What's the standard like? Never heard of the league, honestly.

Bit more laid back I believe. We've played teams from VicSoccer in friendlies before and lost every time so make of that what you will.

Will be better for us as the costs will be cheaper etc., not sure if they have a reserves league though which could be a blessing given our shit numbers the last few seasons.

So its the VPL + The top two teams from last seasons SL1 and Ballarat and Goulburn Valley added for Regional Reasons.

Looks like another year of watching the Zebras in the Second Division - Oh well at least we will be playing at our new ground near my place instead of last season's temporary ground. I will also be on the lookout for the Stasi Boys I go to our game against Richmond.

I'm really, REALLY interested to see how the NPL goes. Would love to have promotion/relegation in Australian football one day in my lifetime.

Just curious too, I noticed Border FC and Eastern Jets are being admitted in 2015 and was wondering where Eastern Jets are going to be based if anyone knows?

What area are these teams representing, I'm guessing Border is Albury-Wodonga, and Eastern Jets is Gippsland? If so, you'd think Eastern Jets would be based in Morwell.

Ah, sweet!

Morwell definitely makes sense.

I'm 99.99% certain Eastern Jets wont be based in Morwell. The money wasn't there for a franchise to be run by the Gippsland Soccer League as was planned.

Maybe 5-10 years down the track, but currently there isn't the money or support from the local community for a new club. It would need to have a lot of capital (90%) injected by a private investor if it is to happen in 2015.

Eastern jets will be based in Knox I'm pretty sure, from what i heard Nunawading SC were going to relocate to there and make up the Jets, not 100% sure though.

There is talk a Merger between Nunawading with another club may be on the cards to create this new club.

Really? Where did you hear this?

Fair enough, for some reason I just assumed it would be a regional team and then Gippsland would've made sense.

On a very unreliable Soccer Forum.

Mates play for Nunawading in their 'tekniq' program. The club was fucked about a bit last year and basically there all moving to knox regional centre. i don't believe its a merger, knox city will have there own club still, eastern jets will just play in knox. Still not 100% certain on this information.
