  1. Sorry gentlemen but I sense a element of an "Uncle Tom" neurosis on this thread. At both the Newcastle and Victory games this season I've witnessed Mel City fans and Manchester fans respectively shounting down heart chants with "City" and so on or signing man city songs. To me as a fan of this club, a man city fan shounting down heart chants is no different to fans of any other club for that matter that is deliberatly sitting with Mel City fans to shout them down. My mind actually takes me back to the 4-0 win over victory last season (my how far have we come!) when those half a dozen or so victory fans were in the heart end deliberatly and succesfully winding up our members and many of you will recall what happendned to them. Put less dramatically I accept Heart as in reality dead but passionate fans of the Heart won't accept EPL wannabes disrespecting that legacy and trying to rewrite / whitewash our history out of existence . My 11 yo was in tears at the end of the game saturday night while our EPL brethern were busy heading for the exit, banners underarm, with 5 -10 minutes to go to be home to catch the main event. My boy has passion for his team that these people will never understand and I strongly believe it is up to these new members to show alot more respect and heart fans do not need to go cap in hand to offer our gratitude that they are on board.

  3. If you're going to jump off City for identity/moral/ethical reasons, then you are probably best saving your 'I quit' post after a good win so you can be taken a bit more seriously.

  4. When Kewell first signed on to play for the scum it took him almost two thirds of the season to adjust to the lower quality of play. I genuinely believe that Villa is struggling to understand/read what his team mates around him are going to do as it is a significant level below what he is used to. So instead of making runs on instinct from years of superior coaching, he now has to think what is this retard about to do? And, where do I have to position myself so that his inferior skills will still allow him to get the ball?

  5. I have been luke warm to this city takeover. Saturday night, after five years of loyal support for the red and white, my two sons have announced that they are now V*****y supporters and want 'tard shirts and scarves. City said we would have distinctive home and away colours and David Villa for ten games. Clearly we have been misled on both fronts. The attitude of the new City supporters on Saturday night made me feel like an alien in supporting the club I have supported since it's birth. I don't want to be supporting a plastic mini-me Manchester city and the use of the blue strip along with the Heart chants being drowned out was appalling from both the club and supporters. If Melbourne is in fact blue and white then it is the Visitors who hold the claim. To their credit, the other side of Melbourne have their own identity and it was more appealing to my sons as well as my friend I took along who is also now a V*****y supporter. I still have my membership and I am hoping I regain my passion for the Heart.

  6. CFG gave the people already at the club a chance to prove themselves. It would appear that the non-football area has done well in that we have over 10K members and a definite buzz surrounding the club, although massive points lost over the Villa debacle ... In terms of the football department / recruiting, etc, this area of the club is being sorely found at due to inheriting JA's long terms signings / salary cap implications, bizarre contract extensions last season, and not strengthening our defence as a priority. This forum has discussed to death the fact that we have an abundance of midfielders / wingers, but only one defender who would walk into any other A-League team in Paddy. No full backs and below par GKs will be our undoing this season and the club will suffer for it, and I would not be suprised if heads roll in the future (JVS & JD would be feeling a little nervous at present). CFG would have seen how far behind the Visitors we really are on the weekend and hopefully they have had a shock to the system, and are keen to work hard to make us the no 1 team in Victoria, let alone Asia. The sooner CFG can work out how to make best use of its seemingly unlimited resources in the context of Melbourne City and the A-League, in a strategic, layered manner across all facets of what makes a successful football club, the sooner we will be back on the right path. At present, we are miles off. Meanwhile, us loyal supporters will continue to suffer and point out the obvious, whilst having to watch us lose games by being attacked out wide on the counter, or through GK brain fades, all the time having to hear JA's special comments on Fox ... As a start, I'd like to see the following ... Vierra to come to observe JVS and his team first hand for 4 matches Ramsay / and Redders loned out to a league 2 club in England, who pays part of their salary ... surely CFG can make something like this happen, maybe in exchange for a new gym or pitch upgrade ... Our Aussie marquee spot to go to Schwarzer or Federici or Jones Germano sacked or loaned out and replaced with a new quality visa LB Re-sign Walker, or find another young right back from somewhere who is a natural in the position, not a striker converted to a full back - Hoff stays as back up and could be a good bench player as he can slot into a few different positions. Persist with Williams, Marino, Duga, etc up front

  10. This is the one area I find annoying about the A-League - no reliable injury reports. It would be nice if the FFA mandated that after every weekend the clubs must produce an updated injury report and then along with the squad members a further update.

  11. Step up the brainwashing. Ideas include: 1 play a track whilst they are sleeping that goes something like this: "Berisha is a dog, Berisha is a dog, berisha is a dog",etc. 2. Insert those super quick visuals that have been banned by law from advertising into their favourite DVDs of famous heart goals and that animal Muscat taking out young Zahra 3. Explain to them (nicely) that only retarded people support the others 4. Threaten to stop feeding them if they don't revert. For what its worth I too wouldn't shed a tear if city left tomorrow and took their NSW sky blue and their "the fans count for shit" attitude with them. Still those blue kits will come in handy when the club franchise relocates to Sydney next year, to be closer to their natural market.

  12. What I wonder is : who decided we should persist with our 2 keepers and why? who decided we wouldn't sign (or even trial) a left back? To me, despite all the pre-season hype, it was pretty obvious that with the worst goal keeper and worst left back in the league we would be throwing away points on a regular basis and it was laughable for us to be "title favourites". I still think mid table will be a good result with those 2 weaknesses. Now if those above decisions were forced on us by the salary cap, well OK, but I still think we could have tweaked things better (like using every last cent getting a visa left back for instance). if those decisions were made because we thought we had capable players then whoever thought that has to go. While i am at, we have a long list of "sack" threads but to me the first guy to go should be the goalie coach.

  15. I was excited by the rebranding for a while and got caught up in the hype. For a while I forgot why I became a Heart member. The reason I supported Heart from day one was because we were going to be the club that taught bright australian talent how to play the right way. That was the club's identity for me. We got an Ajax youth coach and some talented youngsters (Behich, Babalj etc) and I didn't care if we didn't win the league as long as I saw bright young talent being playing REAL football. That was the point of difference from Victory for me. I loved watching and supporting Heart in those first 2 years, going to the games with my son. I couldn't wait for home games! Fast forward to now, and what have we become? A glamour club? A club with a split fan base and no real identity. People point fingers at coaches and players, but for me, the real culprits are on board level. At the game on Saturday night, I hated admiring Victory. They are doing so many things right. On the park, off the park and especially from their fans. Now, I can never follow Victory, but it saddens me that For the first time ever, I am not looking forward to going to games. The fans need to be united. ( having said that, Man City fans, if you want to be real fans spend some money on a Melbourne City shirt and put your money where your mouth is. stop wearing Man City shirts to games. We want to attract Liverpool and Man U fans to our club) If we are going to survive and thrive, there is only one way forward. Get rid of the board and the useless, calamitous PR people. Hire a knowledgable director of football and build a TEAM that is not centered around over the hill Superstars. Guys like Villa will not build a strong long term fan base. The only thing that will do it is winning. And quite frankly I don't see us winning until January at least. I don't see us conceding less then 2 goals a game with the defence that we've got. We need some players that are hungry to play for the shirt! More players like Mooy who was frankly the only player with some guts and ability on Saturday night. I hope the club gives my son something to smile about at least after the January transfer window.

  17. Massive differentials on the corporate bookmakers over who lifts the trophy in the AFC Champions League final. Guaranteed profits are available. Sportsbet Al Hilal = $2.77 Luxbet WSW. = $1.85 As example Al Hilal $500 return of $1385 WSW. $750 return of $1387.50 Minimum profit of $135

  19. While his articles are raising valid questions, I do feel that his articles of late are him just sooking that he no longer gets inside information. I do like the CFG way of doing things privately, though this requires the team to be successful on the pitch, as it shows that they are purely concentrating on the primary function of the club. However in our situation where long term issues do not appear to be addressed at all you have to wonder wtf is going on.

  20. Very interesting article. Now that Davutovic doesn't have a quite such a reliable inside source of information he's beginning to ask the sorts of questions that should have been asked all along. Keep it going David. We'd all like to know the answers too.

  22. IMO what we're saying here is that the whole Villa saga has been completely mishandled, not just the PR side of his departure. You don't just parachute a world-class player (who speaks almost no English) into an Australian club a few days before he's expected to play and without a full understanding of just how long he's going to be here, and you don't expect him to perform well if you play him in a non-preferred position or to a non-preferred style of football that he's not match-fit for in any case. If you do those things than it might be OK if the player is going to remain for the full 10-match period or longer, but it's very unlikely to work out well if it's for a mere four matches. So to me this is a management shambles that unfortunately will result in some culpability being attributed to both David himself and to JvS, whereas I strongly suspect that most of the blame should be attributed elsewhere. Either CFG didn't work things out properly in the first place, or there was a dramatic change in thinking after the Newcastle match.

  23. While I have no problem with new fans following the club, there needs to be an element of respect towards our past and where we've come from, which some of them just aren't showing unfortunately. Trying to sing over the capo at every opportunity or screaming 'CITY' every time the word Heart is sung is showing a lack of respect and doesn't do anything except create division and animosity in the terrace, which is highly counterproductive.

  25. He has a 3 year deal. He will point to Koren not playing, Villa leaving early, players signed by previous regime who have contracts that need to be honoured He won't be getting sacked before the 8-10 th round, and then if we have been really bad eg 1 or 2 wins from 10 games.

  26. Completely agree Peter, Im feeling more disgruntled and isolated from this club I once loved than ever before. This. Peter to your credit this is exactly what you predcicted and it is exactly what has happened. It was so frustrating being at the game on saturday, without the old heart fans there would be no identity for the club at all. Im out Tipping you weren't as frustrated 44 minutes into the first half...

  28. Got to say, how anyone can compare the style this year to what was dished up last year is beyond comprehension. JA didn't even realise there was a midfield , with hopeful long balls from the centre backs made it unbearable to watch. Is rather see us playing football than hoping that a long ball is deflected into the path of a player, which last year more often was missed anyway. We need a defense that works though. Something needs to change there. I actually would prefer is to play a back 3, ridding us of Ramsey and maybe being a more balanced line-up.

  33. some of you are so sooky and weak. The more fans the better, we arent a big club that can be knocking back fans coz u arent happy with their chants etc.. Just stick together. the more fans we have, the bigger and better we are going to get. No coincidence that Victory, Sydney and WSW are 3 of the most successful teams. They have the most fans, best atmosphere and bigger draw cards for players to sign because of it. Stick together and stop whinging. I welcome all new fans and take pride that we have broken the membership record.

  35. Says he opened the David Villa thread lol If he was here for the ten games like he was suppose to be then i wouldn't of had a problem with it. What is the point of bringing this bloke across for 4 games? He would've been better off to stay in NY. The whole experiment has been a waste of time. Would it made a difference when it was announce that we had signed him for a guest that he would only be playing four games. Yeh he had a shocker on Saturday night so did the rest of the squad barring maybe Mooy, essentially he saved us two games with his two goals. I know everyone is disappointed in Saturday nights result but Villa coming to Melbourne City has continued to expose us Nationally and World Wide which is always a good thing. It would've made a difference to the membership counter, it tell you that. What have we honestly gained from him being here for 4 games? Outside of bailing the team out twice, the team looks no better then what they were last season. Can you imagine how bad we're going to look when he leaves? At least if he was here for 10 games he could've provided a good enough platform for us to get into the finals. Now we are going to not have a striker until Kennedy arrives and by then it might be too late to save the season anyway. If we had come out and lost the three first three games, maybe it would've lead to the removal of the real problem (JVS). Instead, we're going to have to endure yet another mediocre season, we're we'll be hovering around 6 place and ultimately miss out on finals. I would trade all the exposure in the world for a winning football team.

  36. Agreed. Watch their goals again. Ramsay going full retard isn't being "outplayed" JAmes Brown trying to take a speccy in the penalty box isn't being outplayed.

  37. How much longer are we going to try this "magic bullet" method of turning around Heart's/City's fortunes? FFS stop thinking that we're going to build this club up by signing players at the wrong end of their careers.

  38. I don't understand why you're all bashing on the poor bloke. It's not like he has the ball at his feet the whole time. The supply was shocking to him... when it did eventually come to him. For the sake of not being too villa-centric and not being read like a book they were playing the whole field. When he did get the ball, he was tagged. he only made runs from when he was playing deep midfield. He was a marketing stunt that worked. He has done his job. No matter which striker you had up forward, it wouldn't have made a difference. we got outplayed.

  39. Fair enough comment. Let's look at our visa players so far: Season 1: Gerald Sibon (Netherlands); Rutger Worm (Netherlands); Alex Terra (Brazil) Season 2: Rutger Worm (continued); Alex Terra (continued); Fred (Brazil ex. USA); Maycon (Brazil); Jonatan Germano (Argentina - he came to us, we did not scout him) Season 3: Fred (continued); Jonatan Germano (continued); Steven Gray (Ireland); Patrick Gerhardt (Liberia); Josip Tadic (Croatia). Marcel Meeuwis (Netherlands) as injury replacement. Season 4: Jonatan Germano (continued); Patrick Gerhardt (continued); Robbie Wielaert (Netherlands); Orlando Engelaar (Netherlands), [EDIT: Add Michael Mifsud (Malta)]. Andrea Migliorini (Italy) as injury replacement. Season 5: Jonatan Germano (continued); Robbie Wielaert (continued); Damien Duff (Ireland); Robbie Koren (Slovenia). David Villa (Spain) guest player. Make your own assessment.
