Sydney's original population consisted of a lot of released Convicts which in turn meant the City always had a much larger percentage of Irish Catholics, due to these numbers they were very quickly able to establish themselves as the ALP NSW Right. Melbourne on the other hand early on created several large institutions for the Protestant Establishment like the Melbourne Club etc and the Masonic Movement was much larger here for those in the Middle Class. Therefore when the Socialism was at its height and impacting the ALP - In Melbourne the Catholics were asked to leave/felt that had to leave (It depends on who you speak too) due to how Socialism and Catholicism can not coexist. This allowed for the ALP of Victoria to create a larger and more influential Left of the party in Melbourne, it also over time saw more Socially Minded Catholics (who once would have been ALP members) join the Liberal Party. Alongside this the Protestant Establishments in Melbourne lead Conservative Politics in Victoria to always have a more intellectual and thus slightly more progressive outlook than its Sydney counterparts. cadete
I wonder how much better Sport would be if WA and SA actually went through with it and both succeeded from the commonwealth... We would instantly have two new usually half decent Cricket Test Nations to play Australia and suddenly an International AFL Tri-Series that had national pride on the line between three countries all based on the same Island. Back when I lived in the NT our 1 seat had almost twice the voters of everyone of their 5.

You can study physics and astronomy for your entire life and you'll still never truly fathom it. The universe is too complex and massive for our minds to properly comprehend. If you haven't already, I highly recommend watching the TV series Cosmos, everything is simplified yet still crazy. Makes you really appreciate just how insignificant we actually are. Always makes me feel better about the problems in my life knowing that they don't matter at all in the grand scheme of things

HeartFc
I think this whole flat earth theory stuff is a case of inception trolling. So many layers of trolling that even pretty well re-known scientists have got sucked in. Personally I believe 9/11 was an inside hand job between a mixture of george bush, aliens, biggie smalls, elvis and KFC. It wasn't Islamics coz they're totally peaceful and it gave the yanks an excuse to invade Iraq and steal secret documents which Saddam had. Unfortunalty those documents when just links to youtube to clips of flat earth conspiracy theories. Assad has the real proof.
