old english is shit as, i read great expectations in year 6 and almost ended it all at the age of like 11

:droy:

Why would you even attempt to read Dickens in year 6... and then judge an entire history of brilliant literature over one dumb experience. Come off it.

Are you trying to insinuate that Great Expectations is in anyway written in 'Old English'?

Dickens is writing in the 19th century. The Old English period ends during the 12th century.

FWIW Bill Shakespeare writes in what is known as the Early Modern English period which still ends a couple of centuries before any Dickensian works are written.

Btw as you may have guessed, I liked History at High School, kids

The students that attend SEDA with me do not give two shits about school , all they care about is how well they can play soccer and do tricks -.-

I applied for the school specifically for subjects and my future.. Then there are those other fuckwits

Should have done year 11 and 12 if you cared about subjects and your future

I only know 2 people who left their school and went to SEDA.

Socially high-profiled type.

Entered as shit-cunts

Left as shit-cunts.

Begging openly on facebook for assistance which could be achieved if they had the same IQ as Garcia's shirt number.

Looks like they haven't achieved anything and seems like they are doing some cop out courses that I can't remember from the top of my head.

future McDonald's managers right there.

We will be above them in 6 years time.

Seriously though, from what I hear, it's like some sort of gimmick/bludge shit there, I'm only aware of the unintelligent people from my school who moved there so I have a negative view of this school. It's a sport education... could someone expand on the career opportunities this school gives? like decent jobs, not coaching kids or shit like that.

and here I am, attended regular high school and doing Business sport management at deakin now.

I only got an atar of 79, pre-requisite was english but thank fuck I did methods since the middle band only looked at Business Management, accounting, Eco and all that shit + methods....and I only did the maths part (35.75). Got into a course of an 82 clearly in

Don't bother with Methods. Not worth it for what you want to do.

It really depends on what courses you wanted to get in to, mine consisted of methods as a pre req, business sport management didn't, but you would have to do a little more digging into the courses in the middle band section IF you did not get the clearly in score, they would have information on what subjects they would look into the student who wishes to take the course but placed in the middle band. Thankfully I had done methods since it was the only subject I did that meets the criteria of its middle band, where it consisted of all these business/commerce related subjects.

And the thing I found is that, People from my school said they find further easy, but we all know it scales down, so you would have to consider whether you could outperform people in this subject since it's a supposedly easy subject as they say. In methods, my teacher, who is like the Dean of education for my school, is able to collect data and statistics of the average scores and rankings and how students performed overall at the end of the year. He showed us the the previous final exam results and where the average mark was. It worked out nicely since I was averaging a B or even a B+ in my sacs and I think I got a C in the last one. In the end, methods was like for me, if you just focus more on this subject, give 100% effort for it, no slacking off but take shit seriously, you will get solid marks, and it will get scaled up on an average of 5 marks at the end of the year. I'm not even maths type of a person.

The strategy at the end of year exam, they will give you short answers (multiple questions within one topic) the last one is always pretty hard/shitty. By confidently answering 60% of each short answer, say hypothetically you get all marks for those, you're already averaging a B. This will save time to go back to the hardest questions, have a go, get consequential marks and wallah, you get a pretty satisfying score.

If you can follow what I'm on about. This is exactly how my methods teacher said it.

Did methods, worked hard, got a tutor for it and did about 50 practice exams (both short answer and calculator). Got B+ in my SACs, C+ in my short answer exam and B+ in tech active paper for a 32 study score, which went up to 37.75 or something like that.

Stick to methods and do it well, it pays off in the end.

If you definitely don't need methods as a pre req then I probably wouldn't do it, unless you reckon you'll score well. I did methods in year 11 but was pretty slack and ended up dropping it in year 12. It did complicate things a little because commerce at Melbourne and Monash required it. Instead I'm doing a business degree (with a finance major) which didn't require methods. The content is similar to commerce, and in conjunction with my law degree it is still a good option. Just make sure you have a vague idea of what you want to do after school before you finalise your subjects.

Like I said, if you don't need methods, I reckon the time spent studying/learning the content could be utilised more effectively on easier subjects.

Does anyone understand polynomials (methods)

cbf revisiting methods, would have forgotten majority of the shit.

worst subject man -.-

I believe specialist would just rape you sideways if you're not a maths-type guy.

I never tried it thankfully, but methods should be like a subject where you should always put in a solid effort into it every class and with that it should pay off at the end of the year.

Shouldn't kill you, you should print out some past exams by August and do at least once a week, and probably by mid September and beginning of October, one exam a day and you should feel comfortable at the end of year.

You can hire a tutor, but you should not need one a month before the exam, your revision should only be based on practice exams and that's it.

I don't really know which topic to post this on but, I have an option to coach cairnlea under 9's, Keilor Park under 10's, or be a referee at FFV..not sure what to do..

Any thoughts? :)

What would you prefer out of the options that 1 provides potential angry parents and hurl abuse at you if they disagree with your calls or the other where you must maintain control and power of little kids, where in these modern times, majority would lack the discipline and may not give the shits of what you're trying to teach them and are high on the cordial.

Whatever feels right for you.

I'll be arranging myself to be an assistant coach for hockey at my school with maybe the juniors or year 9's or 10's, just because the "coaches" (teachers) who took charge of my team throughout the 5 years had inferior knowledge of the sport.

potential angry parents and hurl abuse at you if they disagree with your calls .

I think both jobs could almost have the same problem with the parents unfortunately haha, the coaching wouldn't be half as bad. Bt I'm thinking refereeing because personally I think I need time to help out or be assistant first for a bit.

Refereeing I know a shit load of abuse is thrown, but I'm a person who just let's it go in one ear and out the other, which sometimes is not a good thing haha

Hmm either get abused or get pissed off by little kids..

Would do coaching in a heart beat mate, i've done both, coach, reffed and played bball and the amount of abuse you cop reffing is bullshit. I guess if you need the money you should ref, but as long as your good with kids you shouldn't do too bad. This is coming from someone whos coached under 8s
