Our Marquee Man...

Ooh aah Brent McGrath

Could be but wouldnt be much of a secret, it was reported we were looking at him last week wasnt it? Looks like it is def a striker. If it is a marquee than it has to be an Australian because Orlando has the international spot which limits who it could be significantly. Internationally recognised? McGrath has played one international I guess? Who else could it be? Australian, internationally recognised strikers. The only ones I can think of are McDonald, Kennedy, Kruse, Thompson, Rukavytsya, Leckie, Brosque. Not any that are likely in that list. Who am I missing?

The club last year said that Fred was our marquee so i'm kinda skeptical to wether orlando actually is since i'm guessing we would've had enough left in the cap to sign him anyway.

We didn't fill up the cap last season 100% and got rid of our highest paid players last season in Fred, Colosimo, Thompson, Tadic, Garcia and Bolton and didn't replace them with players demanding much of the cap.

Velaphi: Back up gk, can't see him taking up much

Behich: Free

Murdocca: He really wanted to come back to melbourne so he probably isn't on too much, or at least he definitely isn't on as much as he's worth

Kewell: Min wage

Ramsay: Left adelaide for since he wasn't getting much game time but he could be on a decent wage

Weilaert: Probably on a decent wage too.

Also we were told by Garcia that he couldn't be signed until we signed another player and assuming that was Engelaar then it's reasonable to think they were competing for cap space.

So overall if it IS happening it could be (in order of personal preference)

1. Carlton Cole (Very minuscule chance)

2. Tim Cahill loan/guest stint

3. Ivan Klasnic

4. Mark Bresciano

5. Brent McGrath (wouldn't say he is 'internationally recognised' but)

Other than that I can't think of too many......
