Popular Post FB.
This deserves it's own thread. 3 seasons. 3 wins. 3 draws. 1 loss. If you had have told me when the club started that over the next 3 seasons Victory will only ever beat us once in a derby I would thought you were insane. Since sacking Ernie Merrick, Victory have gone through 3 coaches and not one of them has been able to defeat us in a derby. We are the undisputed kings of the Melbourne, I can't remember a better domination of one club over a rival in the recent history of the A-League. After all the changes this off-season, new coaches & dismissal pre-season results I don't think any of us could have realistically expected an as emphatic result as what we saw last night. For all the rubbish we cop over facilities, money, crowd numbers, we still manage to get the results that count in the Melbourne matches. As much as MV fans rubbish our club deep down they secretly wish their side could perform as well we do in the clutch matches in Melbourne. Get around the club gentleman. Early days yet, but savor the moment. Melbourne is ours. Edited October 6, 2012 by FB.
Peter
Perhaps a banner for the next derby could be as simple as "WE ARE MELBOURNE"?
Libero
well said. Melbourne is red and white. being greedy, but couldve (probably shouldve) been 5 - 1.
Young Polak
Perhaps a banner for the next derby could be as simple as "WE ARE MELBOURNE"? Probably have a banner that shows the 3 wins we had over them, with scoreline and date. Have a slogan or something included to rub it in their face. FB.
well said. Melbourne is red and white. being greedy, but couldve (probably shouldve) been 5 - 1. Agreed. Keep in mind I haven't watched a replay yet, but I really don't think the result reflected the match. Mac-Allister and Williams had a lot of shots which they should put away. We were easily the better side out there tonight. Even in the drawn matches we've had with MV we've outplayed them. It's really only been the 2nd derby where we've ever lowered our colours. Popular Post Tesla
Should be noted that we got those results despite being an expansion club. 2 other expansion clubs have failed, and while the other has been given concessions and funding from FFA, the jury is out on whether they will survive, let alone be competitive. We have not only survived, we have thrived and estaished ourselves as the number one football club in this city. 5 years head start and you fucked it up.

Flores' shot goes in (the one that hit the cross bar) and Archie stops beating his wife and hits his shot form 5 yards out in the 90th minute and we wouldve all had a shit night. ToonHeart
I thought the players effort last night was phenomenal. They were the more hungry of the two sides and I think that made the difference.

Xannax
Biggest drop kicks, Victory would probably be better off hiring a 10 year old with downsyndrome to coach them.

And there are multiple years. So, once again, whilst winning the derby is great, the Heart need to carry it on (great first step though). It's sort of like Freo (not that the Heart are anything like those perennial underachievers) hanging it on the Eagles for a H & A win when the Eagles have a trophy cabinet, albeit small. I love small victories but I want to win the war.
FB.
I don't no why there's both. To me sokkah doesn't need finals. I have said this before. Football needs finals in this country because we don't have relegation. Without finals, teams stuck in the bottom half of the ladder have nothing to play for come the mid way point of the season. Finals provides incentives and keeps the league competitive. Edited October 7, 2012 by FB.

cadete
A way that does not paint a side who had two Flags handed to them through Massive Draft Concessions and another by Performance Enhancing Drugs - Not in a positive light. Braveheart
Dont want to steer this thread off topic but just quickly: a side who had two Flags handed to them through Massive Draft Concessions Agree and another by Performance Enhancing Drugs Completely disagree. Anyway, I think this is a huge danger game for us tbh. Coming off the high of a derby and playing some decent football, I might expect to see some complacency in the squad. Can anybody tell me how many subs were used the other night and who they were. Just want to know the likely bench options for this match and how they should be used. Not all analogies need create mirrored comparison (and I don't feel uncomfortable casting the Victory as the Eagles). Would you be happier with Suns v Lions? Either way, as a supporter of a very good AFL team I don't like the Heart being in a Suns/Dockers/what-have-you position. And I don't think that will be the case for long.
