That may very well be the case, but most EPL teams will expect the same kind of defensive work. I hope he does go on to bigger and better things, and I honestly think he will, I just don't think it will be the EPL by the end of the year.

He looked better last night, than he did in his previous appearances. I am confident more game time will get him back close to his best.

Reading the Hearts forum, it seems the general consensus is that he is an exciting talent, but still has shortcomings in the defensive side of his game. I like Atkinson, but I am very sceptical that he will be playing in EPL next season (at best he gets picked up by an EPL team n loaned out).

It might be the case that if we terminate we have to pay out part of contract which may see us exceed the cap for a designated player. Where as if we pay out at start of next year we won't exceed the cap (although that may result in him still being a DP for next season). However, with the addition of a second DP spot next season (IIRC) we may be comfortable with only actually using one DP spot next year. I do note, this is all conjecture on my behalf.

It probably doesn't help that most of City Terrace are youngish n less likely to use a forum, especially if they are using someother form of social media to manage themselves. I know when Yarraside was around there was a section on this forum that was available only to partially vetted forum members. There was also an area that was only available to those running YS. I think these things were a big driver in the traffic the forum used to get. These days there is no source of natural growth in the user base.
