  1. Last night was definitely the most emotional I and my mates have been at a game. Last week we lost a mate who was an Active member and stood with us at home games for the past two years. On behalf of my mate's in the terrace, Ash's family and friends who all watched last night looking out for the tribute, a massive thank you to the wonderful terrace for making the 26th minute happen. It meant so much to so many people, we felt Ash was there with us last night. Special mention to Jimmy and King Malta for getting this done. We can't thank you enough. If you could see the messages and Facebook posts on his wall you will truly know the impact this had. Love this club. Love our fans.

  3. This kid is amazing. Our younger guys are fucking incredible. So refreshing to see after last season. Melling and Chap in particular are killing it. Not everyone can keep a straight face looking at this ugly cunt:

  4. They won't put the tape of this game in a time capsule but I don't care-winning at the death is so fucking sweet! A few points: • The inclusion of Chapman has completely changed our side, he has an infectious composure on the ball and when there is space in front of him he takes it-not to mention his general foot speed & aggression. •Tando commands his area far better than Redmayne and whilst his distribution isn't as good as some of his peers he rarely panics. This makes a big difference. •Melling is a fucking beast-he's physically imposing and even though his shooting and passing range can improve he has a real presence on the pitch, he may be young but he consistantly intimidates more experienced opponents. •Koren was obviously underdone, it'll be great to see him at full fitness after the asian cup with a genuine striker in jesus. •I thought Kisnorbo had one of his best games for the club, he didn't go to ground unneccessarily attempting risky challenges and made a shitload of important tackles. Kudos to him. •Loved the scoreboard footage of Archie having a sook on the bench after (surprise surprise) his midfield experiment went awry. •How good was it when the scum were celebrating their offside goal, that was fucking hilarious. •Let's hope that unlike past derby wins we can continue our good form in the boxing day fixture and tear the glory a new one. •The beers at the imp tasted bloody good! Particularly enjoyed watching the shellshocked tard fans go past on the tram-suck it up!

  5. Berisha looks like one of those blokes you see on A Current Affair being exposed for dodgy bitumen driveways.

  6. Off the ball he is immense for us, just lacking a final product with the ball.

  7. If he just grabbed his face and stayed on his feet the ref would've sent Melling off. Its the delayed head throw back and phaggot roll which made the ref go "na fuck that you pussy midget cunt".

  8. The intensity tonight was the best total 90mins I can remember us playing. At 80 mins I was convinced we would drop off and cough up a soft one, but to my surprise the boys lifted and actually pushed harder and regardless of whatever decisions were made or not at the end we deserved the win. Great win! The entire squad need to be congratulated on effort and desire. If we play like that week in week out I couldn't give 2 fucks if we win or not just show me you care. They were immense tonight, we made those cockeaters look second rate and by seasons end they'll probably win it. Truly pumped and sorry about some of he language.

  9. I'm biased as hell, but Tyne-Wear Derby is the best in the Premier League EDIT: Nah fuck it we lost, changed my mind.

  10. Full agree with both of the above. So often players say 'we're still hurting from the last match and want to make up for it', but it's just all talk, and they don't lift for the upcoming match. Yesterday the whole team put in top class effort all game. The team made a beastly 29 tackles (victory made 11 less), with the midfield dynamos being huge in that regard. The players were definitely all in, and cared and fought for yesterday's win. Melbourne City had twice as many shots as the other mob, 21 to 10. Indeed, if the team could slightly improve its finishing, we'd have even stronger wins. And the team is suddenly very youthful, which I think helps the team put in such energetic efforts for 90 minutes. There is only 1 player above 30 (Kisnorbo), there are 3 players 20 or younger (Chapman, Garuccio and Melling), 6 players between 24 and 27 (Mooy, Dugandzic, Hoffman, Ramsay, Williams, Velaphi) and Paartalu at 28. Seeing Koren take to the field was a delight. Good to see he's up and running, and I'm sure he'll produce a good deal of magic over the remaining 17 games. Perhaps the cleansheet was the best thing to come out of the match. That's 2 cleansheets in a row, and despite all the pundits pumping up victory's attack all week leading into the derby, we managed to keep them caged, with the other mob only managing 4 shots on target all game. Very pleased to take victory down a peg, and end their 10 game undefeated streak. Big credit as well to the active support for providing awesome atmosphere last night. A sweet win, and now it's time for the team to kick on with the positive form.

  11. Pretty much this. Supposedly we're going to sign another player or 2 in January if you believe what JVS has been telling us. Most likely it'll be a LB, and that'll push garrucio up to LW meaning their is just no more room in this team for Ramsey. Unless people on here think Ramsey is better then Garrucio?
    2 points
  12. Did anyone else see the hard work he did in the first half Probably not, how many attacks did Barbar and Geria ? Have down the right? Not many. Rambo was tracking back and protecting Garrucio, which is more than the help he got when he was LB That said, he had very ordinary moments on attack

  13. Who was that fat cunt at half time who won the free away jersey anyway? Dancing around like a knob...oh wait...

  14. Heard he was pretty average still better than hoffman though. I'd save him until after january, hopefully can take hoffman's position for the second half of the season

  16. I will put a good word in for Willo He ran all night, he chased and harassed, put pressure on the opposition, did he make mistakes, yes, but he did the hard yards that were needed

  17. Waking up today with the Christmas Derby under the belt feels fucking amazing What a night, it had it all, probably the most fun I've had at any sporting event ever. Terrace was the best it's been all year, we were loud, proud and sang for the full 90. Entire stadium belting out We are Melbourne We are City after King Erik scored gave me goosebumps. They looked a totally different team last night, they cared and played from their Heart! Tando & Chapman pumping the crowd up after killing a Tard ball was fucking priceless. Well done lads! WE ARE MELBOURNE.

  18. Thought he was MOM. Some of his interceptions were world class - he saved the Hoff's bacon at least 4 or 5 times

  19. I'm to too fussed about it. Could have sent Melling off if he'd pleased, the yellow means the MRP can't touch it and we avoid losing him for 3 weeks like Milligan. Broxham is still a soft cunt.

  23. Absolutely. But it's a week-by-week thing. A point is fine (well, provided it isn't a Central Coast-esque game, where we absolutely capitulate and throw away the win), but then it's a case of moving on to the next week and grinding out a result on the road against Newcastle. Then, the same against Central Coast. That's what this team needs: consistent effort and forcing teams to actually win games, rather than throwing them away. If we can start relying on City to put in a similar effort to what we saw on Saturday, then we'll have games where we don't quite get the reward for that effort, but we'll also win more than we lose. I think the depth that we're starting to see in the squad is going to help, in that regard. If we have guys like Murdocca and Germano consistently running around in the youth league, it puts the pressure on players to earn their spots every week. That's been a big problem with this team historically: not just that we've historically coughed up so many opportunities, but that we've done that and then we see the same culprits keeping their spots in the XI week after week.

  26. I feel like that sort of line up would not have enough mobility up top. Very good problem to have considering melling, mooy, and paartalu are working well together. Possibility of playing him as a false nine just to fit them all in? At least until Jesus arrives. Williams has been underwhelming as a number 9 so far this season. Agree. He isn't a winger/flanker. Even though he was more box-to-box in the limited time last night, he needs to be at the pointy end of the midfield unlocking the defence. I agree he's not a winger. If you watched Broich when Brisbane were unstoppable he was played on the left but given the freedom to roam across the park. It often gave him the ability to find space far easier than he would if he played as a #10 and was up against a direct opponent. It would put the right full back in a predicament whether to follow his run inside and leave the line open or maintain shape and allow him to be the extra man in the middle. Since he's been moved to the middle and Brisbane have played more conventional wingers his productivity has been far reduced and Brisbane have looked far worse off. Just food for thought as Mooy, Paartalu and Melling cover an immense amount of territory and allow the full backs to push higher up the park. Adding Koren into the mix will leave us a bit softer in the centre and will make Mooy play deeper.

  28. Tando's save right on the half-time whistle though. Genuinely think that would have been a goal with Redmayne in

  29. I also believe a tribute statue of Jacob Melling out the front of AAMI Park is in order for his brilliant elbow in Broxham's face, fucking brilliant

  30. If he's ever fit I'd like to see Germano playing at RB instead of Hoffman.

  31. So the consortium are after their compensation. If this costs the Victorian government $1bn in compensation, when Victoria only had to contribute $2bn to actually have the road built, this is the biggest I've ever witnessed. In b4 they claim compensation costs too much, rename the project, involve the unions, add another $2bn to the cost of it due to union involvement, and build it anyway Victorian voters

  33. Great performance in the crowd as well last night , I was one of the most critical of the new Sky Blue fans after last derby but last night few Man City jerseys to be seen and , correct me if I'm wrong, no man city banners and flags etc. a real watershed moment last night , club's fans happy supporting melbourne's team . Great to see the red white and blue flags as well, a great compromise and will do a lot to bring support group together behind the club.

  37. I'd hate to say it but Melling had to come off. He was too fired up and risked getting a red. Lucky to avoid a red in the first place really.

  38. Great win for the lads. The best 90 minutes we have played this season and probably the best since I have been watching them since January. I though Chapman was superb after a nervy start. Garuccio was great from the start. Which I believe rubbed off in Kisnorbo who probably played the best game I have seen him play. We struggled in the 1st half up front, but had a few chances in the second half. Mooy and Melling were great in the midfield chasing down everything and winning most things. Maybe Melling should have been sent off, but the ref should have intervened long before that. Brown, gave more than Ramsay, and Koren's little cameo showed he has the time and class to make a difference. Most players played well. Although Hoffmans defending and Ramsay's crossing were very suspect. But who cares? As we beat the TARDS Let's have this intensity from here on in, there is no excuse now for anyone to play badly and stay in the team.

  39. I didnt realise that there were no cbd exits for the tunnel so a project for 13% of the traffic on the eastern that would have taken decades to pay off is something we desperatly need? Please Clearly you don't drive down Alexandra Parade, Carlton very much do you???

  41. I'm not missing this derby, was on the Gold Coast at a work function when the last one was played and didn't see a second of it. Luckily I'll be at an rsl next Saturday for a birthday dinner. Anyone know the latest on Koren? He'd be a massive boost if we could get him in the side, even off the bench. I guess it's going to take him time anyway to be fully fit.

  42. I used to think this as well. But it's not. It's just because your expectations are so low, that the fact it doesn't taste like dogpiss amazes you!
