4 yr supporter, 3 as a GA member, I too am disappointed at some of the things that have been discussed here. However, my kids & I will be there in the red and white Fri night, cause deep down we still love it. For me, the disappointment of losing my VFL team in the 90s has never really waned, and although I'm not happy with everything that's going on I will continue to try and embrace MCFC, if this is at odds with others here, I'm sorry. Maybe a little more recognition of MHFC would also be of benefit. Unlike others mentioned here, after the events of where we sat on Saturday night, my kids disdain for the tards is stronger than ever, and they understand, there is no middle ground.5 points

Seriously We have a visa spot available Man City with its supposed global reach, should be able to find a decent left back playing in the Bulgarian second division, who is head or shoulders above most A league full backs I know that Berisha is a nutcase, but whoever found him in the German second division ( and he wasn't even starting) is a genius there has to be a player in Europe available to plug some of the gaps in our squad5 points

How can you completely stuff up a football club due to your ineptitude and then be hired as an "expert ", when actually you should be in gaol for crimes against football4 points

I'm fairly confident in the CFG taking this club forward and turning it into a big success. But I understand it will take time, and after 4 seasons of mediocrity and not knowing what to expect next, I guess I can wait a little longer when I can finally see light at the end of the tunnel for once. I've been a supporter since day one, probably a lot longer than many of you here who are a resistance to this change. This complaining about colours and name etc... is probably near to the point where a decision is made. You either suck it up and get right behind this club and what it's doing, or you can simply stop supporting it. The sooner you realise CFG will not give in to you, the better. This is an organisation who has won the EPL twice in the past 3 seasons, and has the resources and expertise to grow our crowds and membership numbers to a respectable level. Have a little faith in the transformation. I've supported the club the past 4 season as much as any of you have and will continue to do so. However, first and foremost I am a supporter of Australian football and the growth of the game I love in this country, and when I look at the benefits CFG will bring and have already brought to help the growth and development of the game, I cannot complain. For those who can't deal with this happening to "their club" then you're probably better off going to support the other team in melbourne.3 points

Elieanid, your passion is to be commended ... the reality however, is that the collective majority does not have the desire to try and force a branding reversion. CFG will point to all the things they have done to be respectful of Melbourne Heart and the past in terms of the logo and the away kit. They will also point to the facts that we have over 10,000 members and that our home strip merchandise has sold out faster than it can be produced. My advice to you is to wear your old Heart gear, buy the away top when it is finally released, enjoy supporting the club along with the long suffering fans who have been there from the start, and any newbies who have jumped on as a result of the rebrand ... and I guess be cognisant of the fact that despite all the drama, supporting Melbourne City FC is still a million times better than following the tards, and that will never change. .2 points

Migliorini was a horrendous footballer. A traffic cone would make a better man marker than him. Oh but he hit two good strikes in one game sign him up then! I think our signings on paper have been good this season. Only Brown was an odd one to me but sometimes signings like him come off. He's shown he is capable of plenty in the past. Other than that Melling seems a prospect, Paartalu you can see is regaining proper fitness but has been a key component in a title winning team playing similar style to us, Duff is probably one of the best signings ever made in the a-league under the cap and Mooy has been by far our best so far and koren hopefully once fit will add another dimension up front. It's still the same shit deadwood at the back costing us games. Only Paddy K is worth a starting spot at another a-league club week in, week out in that back four + keeper. Hoffman and Wielaert are ok as squad players but we really need more from a visa player. We need at least 3 new defensive additions between now and start of next season with hopefully Ramsay, Wielaert, Redmayne shown the door. Surely we are hunting for an international lb with the empty visa spot we have. Your forwards end up becoming less effective if you are chasing the game continually.2 points

No. Someone just correctly pointed out that the club was not going to fold and that CFG didn't 'save' us, like people claim. I want CFG to fuck off, not to get the old owners back, but because I can't reconcile with their policy of obliterating the club I supported in order to create their own. And people need to stop taking a 'wait and see' approach to them changing the red and white away kit. Everything they've done so far is enough evidence that the red and white away kit is gone, most likely next year. Welcome back Sash. Just visiting, or to stay? Thanks JW. I went to my first game game on Saturday and the night and reaction to it has sucked me back into the vortex of the whole Heart/City situation. Like Godfather III, 'I keep trying to get away, but they keep dragging me back in', or whatever the line is. To be honest, I just plan on following the A League by going to games, but being a bit more detached from it all. Apologies for getting a bit emotional in my first post for a while!2 points

Watching Ramsay brings back horrible memories for me. His professional career has mimicked my sunday league football career to the letter. Always played left wing or second striker on the usual virtue of being the only left footed player and having a bit of pace, would score goals but couldn't cross for shit. Several hamstring and groin tears later and the resultant lack of pace saw me moved into left back where my complete lack of any ability to tackle or position myself properly was exposed regularly and more often than not saw me just fouling whatever cocky young dickhead the opposition would inevitably have playing right wing before he'd have a chance to skin me again. I feel your pain Ramsay but gtfo!2 points

Every single goal we have conceded from open play has come down the wings. How is this Paartalu's fault?2 points

i'm still not getting the conspiracy theories here. City will wear Red and white for another 10 games this year. And it does look awesome. If they didn't want red and white they wouldn't have made the away strip them colors There is no merchandise available, not just the away strip. We are just not used to having so many people wanting to buy our stuff! Just depressing when so many people are so passionate about conclusions jumped to on the future of the club. No one knows what will be next year. One would assume the a-league 2 year rule on colors still exists so next years kit will be identical to this years kit (Home and away) . Live for the now2 points

IMO we over-emphasise "memberships." "Membership" as I understand it means that you have some sort of formal say in the affairs of the organization of which you are a member. We have no formal say in the affairs of Melbourne City whatsoever. We are season-ticket holders and nothing more.2 points

Vlada Stosic played at Footscray JUST 86 & 87 if that's what you're referring too. Yeah just wandering if you saw him play then. Wasn't born ahah, my dad was a big fan and i picked up on it Wonder if our fathers ever crossed past in the 80's. Have heard some cracking stories about the Knights-JUST, United-Yugal games back then.2 points

If you want to support the team then support whether you wear sky blue or red and white or perhaps a mix of both in which I do. If you want to chant heart with the Melburnians then do it. If people want to chant city over the top then they are stupid but are entitled to do so because guess what that is what we are called and who we now support. My biggest concern of last season was not the fact that we were not winning games and we had that long losing streak it was that I was uncertain whether our license was going to be sold to a club outside of Victoria. If that was to happen I would have had no one to support (Cause there would have been no chance in hell of me supporting Victory) which I found depressing as I had started to enjoy coming to the soccer and supporting a team from inception. When the City Football Group took over I was so bloody stoked because not only would we be staying in Melbourne but we would now have the biggest backing in football that money can buy. Unfortunately it may be a lean year, realistically it won’t happen over night but I know the city group are going to build us into something big. Along the way we are going to have to sacrifice things we have enjoyed or supported in the past but I am confident in 4 to 6 years time every club will envy us.2 points

Every single goal we have conceded from open play has come down the wings. How is this Paartalu's fault? Did you watch the derby? His job was to mark Finkler's runs through the middle, he didn't do that well, resulted in a goal. Big Erik needs a big game Friday night, here's hoping he finds his form ASAP.1 point

I hope they pull JVS one corner after the match and said "You better pull your finger out of your arse or you will be packing your bags to Netherlands, or wherever you come from!" in a sort of British way or course... over tea.1 point

I thought it was interesting today on 1116 SEN the Victory CEO Ian Robson stated that at the Darby last weekend Melbourne City FC director of Football Brian Marwood along with The City Football Group hierarchy were there in attendance even though Manchester City FC were playing against West-ham United ... It shows that the CFG are serious about the investment into Melbourne City and the A-League... I can't imagine how they were post game given the shocking result but they would of been impressed with the A-league standard of football... Gives me confidence as a supporter and member to know that the owners are here and they have an eye on what is going on... JVS big brother is watching!!!!1 point

This bloke has no idea how to tackle. Just corrals and retreats. Totally useless as a left back, and still shit as a winger. Some say Ramsay is still corralling Barberouses to this day...1 point

There is room for both. Code wars are dumb and needless (especially when they're played in different seasons) yet it seems to be the codes themselves which insinuate the debate in the first place.1 point

So, I can't help but notice that the NT and South End are now going to attempt a 'come on you boys in...' call and response chant after witnessing what happened in the away section and Level 3 at the derby. Imitation is definitely the best form of flattery.1 point

It's people like you who make us wish we had Heart back in the first place, who are you to come in here and tell everyone they should be thankful to an organisation who is using us for their broader financial investment? Do you think CFG acquired us because they love Melbourne football supporters? Many on here still identify with the Heart, so either be more accepting or kindly fuck off.1 point

I think if he loses the next two games, he would be extremely long odds to still have a job, heading into the Central Coast game. The Shiekh would find three years' salary for JVS down the back of his couch. The problem is when the expectations have dropped to rock bottom, you accept any glimmer of hope and a result that would have been considered mediocre at the start of the year (say, a point this week) is enough to buy the coach a stay of execution. It's the Marcus North corollary: there's so many ordinary teams around that if you keep the guy hanging around for long enough, eventually he's going to make a cheap ton and get another five tests' grace. Migliorini's game against Adelaide was one of the bright spots in a dreadful 2013/14 season, but in the grand scheme of things, all that really did was buy JA another month in charge.1 point

I wonder why I missed Michael Mifsud for last season...! Going through the list I'd make the following comments. Sibon - wrong end of his career. Never got going at no. 9 and on the Heartcast and RWU Fourm site there were calls for him to be benched. Didn't really get going until moved to a midfield role. Worm - never got going unfortunately. Career was already on the way down and has gone further down since. Alex Terra - had a great first season. Popular around the club especially with the youngsters. Couldn't get himself right in season 2 and was crucified by endless long balls pumped over his head. Fred - wrong end of career. Adequate first season but his body gave way after that. Maycon - I still think he was signed by mistake and we thought we were getting someone else. Never got going. Germano - actually has played very little senior football - aged 26 and has played just 45 senior games. Passable first season but now can't get on the park. Steven Gray - what was Aloisi thinking? Gerhardt - IMO he was quite a good signing - right age and had something to offer - and I'm a bit surprised we let him go. Tadic - good signing. Right age.Took a while to settle due to personal issues, but we did not know how to play to his strengths. Wasted opportunity. Marcel Meeuwis - see Steven Gray above. Robbie Wielaert - Ok signing, but wrong end of his career and he's losing athletic ability. TBH I think he's done well to stay clear of injuries. Engelaar - although at the wrong end of his career he was a good signing - 5 goals in 12 games says it all. Mifsud - wrong end of career and whatever he did went wrong. Migliorini - picked from the bowels of Italian football, despite his detractors I thought was a good pick-up for what he was. Right age and TBH I thought with some coaching we could have done a lot more with him had we kept him. Probably on a tenth of what Engelaar was getting, but his goals were just as good - who can forget those two screamers in the one match? Damien Duff - class player, but just for one season? Too early to say. Robbie Koren - yet to see him on the park. Too early to say. David Villa - whole guest stint badly managed. But who can forget those two goals and especially the sight of David Villa in Heart colours? Overall, of those who have come and gone I would have picked Gerhardt, Tadic and Migliorini as players we should have done a lot more with. Too early to assess Duff and Koren. Engelaar and Wielaert are OK, but overall I think we're going for too many players at the wrong end of their careers.1 point
