  6. Just one further comment if I may. I was a bit hard on the FRG and I apologise to Torn Asunder and other group members. Since SHT was introduced midway last season our form has hardly been conducive to the crowd around the stadium getting excited. Despite this IMO SHT was beginning to get a response around the ground, and to fiddle about with what was beginning to take off doesn't make much sense to me. Having three pieces of music in about two minutes just before the kick-off just confuses people and so they just switch off. In summary IMO too many changes have been made in too short a time. My interpretation of what people mean by "organically" is to give an initiative time to settle down before loading another one right on top of it. Thanks to YS we have a shortened version of SHT. Forget everything else and stick to that, and once we start winning and the crowd has something to be excited about then it will gradually be accepted by everyone. Now back in my box.

  7. a topic for it's own thread, very few goals are scored from 'long' corners', there's a high chance of losing possession and then the team is (even ore in our case) vulnerable to counter-attack as defenders are poorly positioned if they are in the box. Our problem is that we are clueless when it comes to long or short corners and rarely convert them. Medium???????

  9. Why don't we try the anti-poznan? Where you hold arms but actually face the pitch - that way we can keep watching the game instead of having our back to it! Lol We can call it the Zorba

  12. An interesting statement. My idea of visa quality is "better than what we can get locally". In his first season, after a slow start, he showed signs he might be just that. By the end of the season he was playing well and making us all take notice. Not socceroos material, but good enough to get a run in any side in the comp i reckon (more or less). You could argue a player like that would be hard to sign locally. Last year he was injured for half of it, then came out and looked abominable. Supported by a manager with more faith then sense, he stayed in the side and eventually lifted from terrible to mediocre by season's end. On the promise of that first season he was re-signed, seemingly on the basis that he'd be better if he had a decent pre-season. At present the only possibly reason you would pay him out early (this is what I assume happens when you "release" a player) is so we can sign someone else. We desperately need a fit, classy #10, but these are hard to find and not cheap.

  14. A few items you've missed...it's always hard to win up here in Newcastle, they fielded a strong side and were hard to break down, we held our structure well even after we went a goal down, I thought we deserved more out of this game, we'll soon have all our players coming back from injury, there are still 20 games left in the season so we can still make finals, we know that on our day we can beat any team in the competition, we're training well and I certainly would be worried if I wasn't seeing improvement every week, I'm really proud of my players and I couldn't have asked for more effort from them...and when so-and-so came on I thought he really made a difference. Edit: Having written the above I looked at the transcript of JA's presser. Here are a few extracts... "We know it’s going to be a tough game because Newcastle are a team that works very hard,” Aloisi said. Aloisi said the team had enjoyed a week of positivity on the training track and his players were looking forward to the challenge on Sunday against a confident Jets side. "The players themselves are very positive about us turning it around and we know that we are on the right track,” Aloisi said. "This is making our group stronger. Once we get through this, then our group will be stronger for it. “That's the belief of the players. The players have trained as hard as ever and they're committed.” "We don't change too much drastically in terms of our shape or our structure,” Aloisi said. “It’s more about improving and making sure that we still create other chances to score goals and we're focused on that, but also on our defensive shape and the players know we need to compete when we go to Newcastle because they are a team that works very hard.”

  15. Just wondering if this should be a regular thing, or perhaps a one-off. Also wondering if everyone would get behind it, before I go ahead and buy balloons Also the whole GA area can hit/throw them around much like when a soccer ball enters the area

  20. Don't worry, jets will get 3 points in a close match 2:0 JA will see steady improvements, we wont ......... we will whine again and there will be few more aloisiout banners in 2 weeks at AAMI I reckon we'll lose 3-1 Taggart and Burns will help Newcastle to a 2-0 when our players wake up and realise that there's only 13mins to go; Golgol will flick a header forward for Williams to run on to and actually peg one back and just as we get excited that we could potentially draw this game, GVE will put Heskey on with 7mins to go, scores and we lose 3-1. After the game Aloisi will only talk about how it was great to get on the scoreboard, how the players played really positively in the last 13mins and how unlucky we were to concede the third goal in the dying stages since we got really close to salvaging a draw.

  22. we weren't pinning our hopes on him until Engelaar's injury. Then he became crucial to the team performance. The underlying problem is that when you have a team with a poor system and tactical deficiencies you then become overly reliant on individual players to produce 'moments of brilliance'.

  25. Scouse_roar lets be honest and say you are a huge flog. The fact that you have the time to post on a Melbourne Heart forum as a Brisbane supporter (and lets be honest you probably post on all the others) says it all about your life. We are at risk of becoming a club that continues having a losing culture. Once this is fixed most other facets of the club will be fixed.

  30. For what its worth, the FRG (which also has some level of independance from the club) is really supportive of YS and what YS brings to the match-day experience. It was discussed at the meeting that YS (raised by FRG members not the club) has to fund and raise funds themselves to do banners, tiffos, etc. It was not put on the table that the club funds these things, but it was discussed that the wider supporter group could be made aware of this, which may lead to some additional funding to YS by the rest of the supporters, who get to enjoy what YS bring to the matchday experience. My understanding is that the club is working to get YS representation at the FRG. This would be a good thing if it happened. Also, and in response to JWs view that some supporters are only interested in what happens on the pitch ... it is obvious that the club is really focusing on other aspects during match day to particulalry appeal to families, kids and the social media savvy. i have no issue with this. The kids of today are the adult members of tomorrow. That being said, from a footballing perspective, it was discussed that we dont get enough from the coach in terms of tactical analysis, pre match discussion, player information and player development and particulary post match - hence the comment that the club could release more video interviews with the coach (specific to games) in a similar vein to what AFL clubs do. In terms of getting the whole crowd involved in something unique for Melbourne Heart, if this eventuates it could only be a good thing ...

  31. FWIW it was a YSIDE initiative to change SHT. And all Active Support Discussion with the Club is done via YSIDE's est. channels of communication. And personally I do see a place for the FRG in assisting and attracting Non Active fans which this club needs as much as Active Ones.

  33. Seems an awful lot of stuff about the "match day experience." Who's pushing that? Sounds like someone has their bee in their Santa Hat about it. Maybe I'm a conservative old buzzard, but the match day experience I want is for my team to actually win. I couldn't really care a stuff about the rest - it will follow once we start getting some decent results. I thought that the meeting was about increasing attendances and memberships. So that's what I wrote to the club about. Back in your box JW.

  34. As a new club, it's difficult to stand for something in the early stages of existence. That will come with time. It's difficult to see modern clubs in the same light, but sporting clubs often do have a very strong foundation in an identity or cause. Whether it be the working class, a group of people, a nation, sporting clubs have often played an important role in uniting people of the same beliefs. If anyone can be bothered watch this video, it's a great example. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aR3qgaLlN0

  35. Inspired by this chant, and to appeal to the kids around the Yarraside (kids are intrigued), I've designed this two-stick. Would be great if the Super Melbourne chant is introduced as Chant of the Week as the same time as this two-stick is shown.

  36. Seriously need to look at this aspect of our club. Facilities. Even before the coach. The facilities and I guess having a home with elite training and administrative facilities should have been a key component years ago. It's been the key aspect that has let me down that meeting with the club before anything this was talked about as necessity and would be done. We are still not near this. The news the Chinese businessman who offered $9 million was going to keep us based at that shithole is frightening. Until this is rectified continual improvement and striving for excellence is bullshit talk. The board and senior management have failed here. Bundoora is not the answer. Epping would need work. I think there may be other facilities we could convert or look to converting into our home. People will point to funds but remember, these jokers bought an A League license knowing what was needed. This item was a key criteria at the very beginning. An elite competition with elite teams and elite players need elite facilities. We need a home. Major thing for me.
